Anyway, I propose we hold the qualification tournament at zach’s 2/3 weeks before evo. Zach has shindigs every other weekend so there should be one one of those weekends. Sound good, Cole? You cool with this Zach?
The next most important thing to discuss is how to run the tournament and how to handle character conflicts. Judging by how quickly this thread exploded, I think it’s really important to have a very specific set of rules about how to handle character conflicts so Cole doesn’t get put in a position where he has to make decisions that might hurt someone’s feelings (unless he’s into that sort of thing.)

I had a whole giant post typed out venting on all the bickering that is pulling everyone away from the bigger picture of us being the freakin’ dark horse region in this nationwide tournament. We could be the crew that surprises the heck out of everyone at Evo with everyone so focused on the Justin Wongs and the Gooteckses of the country. But then I deleted it all and just left this:

Frank and Julian said it best, even when it was 5v5 HDR, I pretty much knew who the team would be but i told Apoc AND Julian that they still had to qualify on the day. These are mother fuckers who have one COUNTLESS amounts of 1st place tourneys have destroyed top japan players and have been playing the game longer then u even knew Street Fighter existed. So, my point is…they did not complain and instantly understood that…its the NORM.
So im glad you respect my decision, the problem is you make it pretty clear that you are just riding your ego and still feel u are SO good u deserve to get a lock spot. Well news flash, u are not.
Ill give another example…Gootecks. He was getting raped in begging of SF4 using ryu. Talked to him for a bit, made him switch to Rog and got 2nd frist time using him. After that he was hungry and wanted more competition…so what does he do? He fuckin flies to out of state tournies and starts competing and now he has the most Feared Balrog in the states cause he paid his dues and EARNED that respect. HE traveled…he SEARCHED for competition. He didnt btch and cry and nag everyone to come to him or fuckin brag about how good his rog is and demand money matches if he shall ever grace them with his presence.
So man, you are becoming a great player…but you still got a lot to learn my friend. So I wish you luck in the qualifier, if u cant handle it. Then we shall see how far u get at EVO.

Shit i know i learned alot when i stayed a weekend over at Cole’s. Fucking deadman rotation of Cole, APOC, Mandel, and Nate… AND I TOOK THE BUS TO GET THERE.
Nah for reals though. The thought crossed my mind about having it at zachs. I need to talk to him and see if he would be cool with something like that.
Also, about the characters and rules for the tourney…I will post a new thread about it and let everyone know. This will definitely happen about a month before Evo.
So lets focus on practicing and improving. We got people to rock at EVO. Not really tring to have mini battles amongst ourselves in the NW. There is a bigger picture that im sure everyone can see.

I’m as new as it comes, but Dan sounds just like 80% of the kids in CS:S… NO offense, but if you win a handful of Back-water hick-town (No offense to anyone that lives in those) tournaments it doesn’t mean you’re the best. It merely means you played the best at that tournament.
Hypothetical: You clone yourself (we don’t need you to really do this), then you play yourself 1v1 10 matches on SF4. The clone beats you 6-4. Does it mean he’s a better player? No, it means he had a better order of moves he executed at the right times. Considering it is anyone’s game.
I got my ass handed to me at GameWorks by a guy’s Rufus and me Blanka. For the first 4 matches, he beat me. I came back later and beat his Rufus (Allowing other’s a chance to play him). Does that mean he’s the better player? Not necessarily (He was a better player by my personal observation) , it means he knew how to counter and the timings to play against a wee lil nooblet like me. I learned and gained valuable experience from playing his Rufus over and over and over. It made me a better player now. Given he can probably still beat me 7 out of 10 times, but I’m improving.
Save your coin, show up. I know I’m definitely looking forward to playing guy’s like this Cole, Mandel, Peachy, etc., etc… DO I expect to beat them my first try? No. I plan to gain good experience from playing the good players.
On-topic: I’m pretty damn new to the SRK/Fighting scene, so if anyone wants to let me know how about this team will be growing and the location and times to play. I’d like to try my Blanka (Or someone else mebbe).
