Oh Sweet…That’s awsome
I would love to go, I’m going to have to take six buses to get there though!
Do you have to pay to play? I’m sure I’ll lose right away but I’d still like to play
Getting back from there is the hard part…hmmmm…
Arcade cabinet for 3S? I would understand if this was MWC but this is now Evo North and finals for 3S will be on console. How is this gonna work out? I guess this was something that was accepted after asking Evo staff.
I asked this here since this is the only evo qual thread up.
Is this correct?
“Qualifying EVO World Tournaments: (Top 8 move to Finals in EVO Worlds in Las Vegas, NV in August 2007)”
I ask because the numbers don’t add up for evo vegas.
4 Qual spots/top 8
4 x 8 = top 32
But what about the first bracket day at evo vegas?
Are evo staff planning a top 64 for the semis?
I posted this in the evo2k thread in the evo forums and someone else posted in the FGD evo thread and it hasn’t been answered and the info isnt on the evo site.
Devil Jin: It’s just how MWC is. IF you are good and want to qualify, but are better on arcade, you can do so here, that is the purpose of MWC. It’s at the very least an homage to arcade. Home field advantage for arcade warriors if you will. But yes, if you qualify, you just have to be aware, finals are on console at EVO Worlds.

I am pretty sure 32 people at EVO Vegas will qualify for the big 64 man bracket, 16 winners, and 16 in losers’ bracket.
Mr Wilson: Is there any possiblity that dates can change? I need to adjust my schedule at work and I’m also using Southwest Rapid Rewards (so I don’t think I can cancel if get my reward plane tickets now).
Dalipicard: They are locked in 100%. Fri Jun22 to Sunday Jun 24
I’m not happy with the idea of having the qualifiers for a console-only tournament be held on arcade sticks (3S) that I’m in no way used to whatsoever (yeah, I’m one of those console only 'tards with a square gate), but I’m in the minority (and an unknown player), so I’ll deal with it.
I’ll be quite pissed, however, if these sticks suck ass to the point that the playstyle of everyone has to change because they aren’t sure if the move they’re able to do 99.9% of the time is even gonna come out. Getting or being denied a top 32 spot at a TOURNAMENT LIKE EVO because of shoddy equipment would be crap.
I do respect and support the idea of the tourney series ITSELF staying arcade only. Used to work at an arcade (before it got shut down) and, even when able to play a game at home on a pad/stick I’m comfortable with, I get giddy as all hell at the thought of playing at an arcade, even on crappy sticks. I’m just worried about THIS tourney, as it’s a qualifier for Evo and, even if myself and the few coming with me have little chance of making top 8, I’d like that little chance to remain there and not be robbed 'cause I can’t IAD in 3S with the arcade sticks.
So yeah, I hope that the PS2 converter idea is possible. Regardless, I’ll be lookin’ forward to playing against and getting owned by some of the best in the Midwest.
i dont see why its a big deal to be honest. its not like its mandatory to qualify at a qualifier. first and foremost, this tourney is MWC, an arcade tourney. the fact that you just happen toqualify at an evo semi’s bracket is just a nice added bonus
Hogosha: We’re not going to be able to get PS2 pads stuff in the arcade versions, that’s a lot of work for a tournament we are TRYING to keep mostly arcade. As Sabre said, the ability to qualify is a BONUS. There is always EVO South if you want console only. MWC has been arcade only for a long time.
My suggestion if you want to practice is to play the arcade version. The timing and setups are very different (same with parrying) so I don’t want people to be confusing “timing” of arcade equating to broken sticks. Besides, this is not a “console” tournament, it’s an arcade tournament allowing you to qualify for a console final; )
He loses to tekken players girlfriends, so if you have one, teach her t5 and you will win. i dont give a fuck what anyone says rofl, there is no coming back form humiliation like he took. he is fucking done. Tekken career is over.
cvs2 console, arcade, 360s whatever. its after graduation and if i can go then ill be on that
You know what thats good shit! Im definetly making this now. I going from playing Melee casually into hardcore. Gonna show the Melee community what adaptation and diversity’s all about. Locking me a spot for Melee at Evo North, quote me on that!!!:lovin:
Anyone need Team Member for GGXX/…
He still plays DR in NY and isn’t bad at all. In fact the last tourney here he placed 4th behind JInmaster/Spero/BrianH (the 3 top tekken players here right now.) please stop h8ing :looney: Check my links in the stickied youtube thread on fgd, i uploaded match vids of him and many other tekken lpayers there.
I’m checking out buses for the area since from what I know, planes only go down to Chicago from Ottawa, but I can’t find anything. Can anyone point me to a bus company that’d go down there? Greyhound doesn’t seem to.
Also looking for a GGXX/ teammate, I don’t care how good you are, I just want to fucking compete in this game.
greyhound will get as close as the skokie stop, which is then like 2 miles from the event. There should be some taxis that run there and will take you to nickles. Though depending on how things go, I might pick up a few people again this year.
I’ll be there. I’ve been perusing joysticks online. Any suggestions? I’m a blank slate and have no preference because it will be my first joystick. Ideally, I’d like one most similar to the arcade. I’ll be prepared this time and will try not to be combo fodder for all you vets.
Rock
i will be there with domedown ;]
Jeron. Do you want to have another VS tourney at Evo North? If not, I will be
accepting money matchs for the game.
