Evo North: The Midwest Championships THREAD

i like how people who live in Illinois can’t read.

blatantly says on the first page of this thread CvS2 is console.

Nuff’ said.

This is my first EVO attempt ever…I’m kinda nervous lol
How many came last year?

Holy fuck dude, sftu. I was just about to come back on here and change my post but you have to come in with that bullshit?

Read my PM.

edit: I did not see the small area where it said console. I just saw the first line where it said it was undecided. The post should be updated sorry.

and you felt the need to PM me because you misread and I called you out on it?

all I said was you can’t read. I didn’t destroy your soul. I was just trying to point out the obvious so people don’t get confused.

if you really got mad at my post, I wonder how long you’ve been using the internet

i might be making an apperance for evo north…but most likely ill be goin to world

Dude, fuck you. Calling me out that I misundestood something is one thing, but saying I can not read is completely absurd.

Seems like all you do is go from thread to thread “bringing the hate” and flaming. Get a life.

I wanna try and make it to this. Depends on how horrible I do at Evo East.

Hey, this is my first EVO also :o. Haha, my first fighting game tournament at that…I think I’m more excited than nervous though!

I can’t answer your question though, sorry.

damn well i keep hearing two different answers…i hear console and arcade so i dont know what the freaks going on but yeah im from IL

evo north is a hybrid arcade/console tourney. its arcade where applicable. games like st,3s,mvc2 will be arcade. ggxx, vf5, DR, cvs2 will be console. its all due to availability of multiple boards

okokok soooooo…is it ok to bring my ps2 controller? cause im gonna be playing cvs2

yes. cvs2 will definitely be console cuz acquiring enough boards for that game to run even remotely on schedule is next to impossible. definitely bring whatever ps2 pad/stick you like

cool man thanks alot bro.

hahahahahaha

DXP-HAS NO LIFE. loser loser. bet hes still a virgin too and jerks off to ST. no PM needed

So do I understand this correctly:

It’s a $20 EVO entrance fee + the entrance fee for each tournament on Saturday and Sunday? In other words it’s $30 to enter one tournament (plus $10 for each additional tournament)? I assume if you qualify in the top eight you don’t have to pay again at EVO?

-wes

you still probably have to pay at EVO finals i believe

This kinda sucks for me, I have the 15th Anniversary edition of sf3 and st, so i use the normal ps2 controller. Its been the only thing i have been practicing on, and I’m very comfortable with it. so when it says that sf3 and st are on the arcade, am I screwed out of using my controller? Is there any hope for controller users, or are we screw out of circumstance?

(Btw, i am complete rubbish on the arcade stick…)

King of Bums: Yep, those are going to be arcade. You have to go to any other EVO for those games on console.

the problem with that for me, (and maybe a few others), is that we don’t use sticks!! I have been a d-pad junkie since hf came out on the snes. And i haven’t bough an arcade stick thing for my ps2 cause its about 100$ and I’m better with the controller anyway. This arcade only thing is just going to screw a bunch of people who practice at home with their own controllers. I was going to go for st sf3 and cvs2, but now its pointless for me to try at st and sf3 cause i know I’m going to lose. If i had a controller i would have a chance because thats what I (and most of us) are used to. I think the people hosting this turny should reconsider, and make it more comfortable for everyone that is going.
Having it arcade only benefits those that are familiar with the arcade settings. If you haven’t noticed, arcades have been disappearing because consoles are more convenient, cheaper, and do the same thing. This arcade only makes this already elitist game, even more elitist. Now I’m screwed out of my best game (sf3) because they are forcing me to use something i am complete shit with.
And my final point, forcing players to use the arcade stick only creates problems, instead of making a fair playing field. Player’s custom controller are their so that the player is as comfortable as they can be. The arcade tries to be for everyone, but fails to do so for some of us. The stick can be more stiff or loose than what people are used to, the button configuration could be different causing the wrong reactions, how the buttons are laid out could effect players used to their controllers, and so on. I though, when i read the rules of the tournament that you had to bring your own controller (as long as it wasn’t programmable.) Now this change is only going to hurt those who read and understood the rules.
If they make cvs2 arcade only, I’m not going to be able to compete, and I’ll have to wait another year to compete.
In short, this change only hurts competition, and makes it more difficult for players to get their start. I hope you understand what I’m trying to say, and maybe the powers that be can see this. But until then, I’m going to be practicing the only game left to me that I might have a chance in (cvs2).

I’m too poor to travel >.<. I’m a bum, remember?
