You will not get the serious local T6 comp (we have had the game over half a year already) if it turns out to be single elim. Because most of the T6 players here only play that game on the list of games available, and the venue fee is rediculous for entering one game, but more than reasonable if you plan on being there all 3 days. But of course it makes sense why you are doing it, and it’s more of a side tourney for people who play 2D games.
Whoa Whoa…I am NOT taking pre-registrations…I haven’t even announced a schedule yet!
Keits: Only idea I have for Wiis is GameCube sticks/controllers (which will piss off Wii Stick people) or better yet, have 4 Wiis, 2 on opposite sides of the arcade…I’m very unfamiliar with multiple Wiis except for Smash, but that mostly uses GCN controllers…
Syxx: We have one T6 machine. I don’t think anyone wants to stay all night to play the thing one one cabinet. IN fact, I’m the one SENDING the board over to the arcade, so unless you guys bring that cabinet along from Racine, it’s going to have to be easier on my part so we keep a tough schedule.
Humbag: It will be switch sticks on the cabinets for all of those games then, MVC2, 3s, ST. If not, we can possibly wire up a ground to the converters, but I’m not sure I want to risk it. I only have 5 extra sets (10 total with 5 JAMMA rigs) and I don’t want to temp fates.
Devil Digimon: I don’t even know what system Fate Unlimited Codes runs on. I had to think when you said “FUC”. If you or Dark Geese want to run it on the side, be my guest.
And about the “venue” fee being expensive for one game…that’s the way it is in majors. $20 is pretty fair. I think EVO is running $30 and Final Round is up to $30, so we’re actually CHEAPER on the venue fee.
We should have Smash, btw…but it will be EVO rules IF they are have having a Smash tournament. I don’t know anything about these items/non items rules, but my opinion is strictly that any game that requires you to “invent” numerous rules to play the game was NOT meant to be a 1 on 1 fighter. It should be a “melee” game, or played with all items/stages. If the game is random and things aren’t fair, why have tournaments in it in the first place? It’s just supposed to be a fun game, but that’s just my opinion.
My bad on pre-reg, everyone else did it, so…
follows everyone off cliff
But yeah, just to let you know, I’m interested in playing A3/SC4/CVS2, so hopefully you run them.
MK/DC, not so much.
Jason - Ive been discussing the Wii-mote issue in the TvC rules discussion threads and even though I hate wii-motes and problems they bring, a LOT of players are using Wii-mote attached controllers/sticks. I dont know why these people didnt just acquire a cheap ps2->gcn converter, but that is neither here nor there.
If we can get some way to firmly secure the wiimotes to their stations, using zipties or some of that metal wire stuff, we can hard-sync two wii-motes to each system and rule that no other wiimotes are allowed in the building. Then all we need is batteries for those wii-motes and its all good. Id ask people to write down their button configs, too, if they are using converters, as it can be tricky and time consuming to guess which GCN button is which PS2 button when mapping your controls before your match. (yeah tvc has the lame highlight a button and scroll through the functions type setup, instead of the smart ‘highlight the function and hit the desired button’). TvC is, honestly, a bit of a headache, but its damn fun and worth it in the end.
If Alpha 3 is there I will be too.
Jason:
Thank you if thats the case. I would love to be able to use my arcade stick!
I’ll sign up for HD Remix and Street Fighter IV.
My streak of attending MWCs comes to an end 2001-2008 Why isn’t this the third or last week of June like it always is Mr.Wilson?
MadBooFace: Two reasons: One, fits more in to the actual EVO schedule of events this year, and second, a tournament in Arizona called “Devastation” has already booked a date on the 3rd weekend of June which conflicts with our date we have had all these years, so we had to move the date.
Sign me up for:
ST
STHD
TVC
SF4
A3
3S
CVS2
Also I can bring whatever systems/games are needed (Wii + TvC, PS3 + STHD or SF4, PS2 + CVS2). Just let me know.
I don’t reeeally want to get into this debate because I’m very passionate about it, coming from both sides . But I believe that over 150,000 active members of a 2-game community that all agree on a playtested, tried and true, rule set, speaks for itself. Why do 2d players hate on us Smash players so much? We’re trying to do the best with what was givin’ to us, ya know? Plus, some of the turnouts for one game are about as big as any fully-rostered 2d game tourney… at least in the US.
All’s I’m saying is that opening up the EVO gates to Smashers with OUR ruleset not only increases attendance in hard numbers, it’s also great on the business side of things for better sponsorship and the like. Plus it will expose those who don’t already play 2D to get interested in them, and bring more competition to the scene.
I believe EVO should be the MLG for the fans of all fighters… Halo players are a bunch of assholes anyway that snob you out for playing something that looks “cartoony”.
Plus we don’t steal laptops from each other. :wonder:
At least if there is Smash more of the kids will have their parents with them.
Helllloooo milfs!
Fucking children…
Man, what is with you guys scheduling this on my birthday damn near every year?
No clue if I’ll be in the region when it rolls around, but if I am I’ll be down to get in on SF4, HDR, ST, and probably TVC and MK.

Also is it actually possible to use our own sticks for MVC 2?? That shyt is awesome (if true), which would make the trip even more exciting! Hey yo Sergio where the hell have you been?? Tony and I see each other all the time @ random tournies and every time we looking around for the 3rd killer in the team (YOU) but yet we found or saw nothing or or from you?? CVS 2, MVC 2, T6…yeah that’s right T6!!! I’m back into Tekken once again!
Mendoza: No one is hating on you guys. If we have a QUALIFIER for EVO we have to USE THEIR rulesets. That is all I am saying. If they don’t have the tournament, I’ll gladly have one with the community’s “rulesets”, but like I said, any game that requires this much looking into and “rules” to make it competitive for play should NOT be used as a competitive fighting game, it’s crazy to even think about it, and not EVERYONE is pleased with those rules that you guys have. I support Smash, I don’t play the game myself, and I’m not hating on it, but I think that from a standard fighting game player’s perspective, the incessant amounts of rules and picks in the game make it sound crazy.
Can you imagine if in 3s we had you can choose Chun-Li but not against Yun or Elena, and only Alex’s stage can be selected if Ken and Remy are fighting. That’s what Smash sounds like to me.
Grego: I posted way back in the thread we are not taking signups. Main reason I don’t do early signups is because people tend not to show when I do signups. In 1997 I had 320 people sign up for MWC and 93 people showed up…happens every year…
VDO: Yes, I am pretty sure I will be able to have you guys use your sticks, but I am not 100% certain yet…all depends on if the converters needs 360s disassembled in the cabinet first.
VDO - play tvc as PTX please. i believe in you.
I would consider attending this tournament for SC4, but it may not be there and TiT8 is the same weekend.
I would consider attending this tournament for T6 comp, but it won’t be Bloodline Rebellion (you used the wrong name in the OP) and there’s no way I’m traveling for a single elimination tournament… unless I happen to already be in Japan for some reason.
I also have to agree that Smash should be community rules, and the comparisons to SF3 are ridiculous. Smash rules are pretty basic: items off and a few stages banned. If Evo runs Smash again, and doesn’t use the community rules, I have to wonder if they’re catering to SRK or the real Smash players.
Evo may be big, but why bother holding a tournament when you’re not even using the standard community rules?
My PS2 stick doesn’t work with the converter, is why I have a Wii Hori
