I think that the support for MK could be considered a moment. The crowd was really getting all sorts of hype for a game that doesn’t have that cult-like following like others. While MK isn’t a perfect game by anymeans, it’s definitely a giant leap ahead of past games and has proven that Mortal Kombat can have a place in Evo. Will it still be alive next year? Who knows, but at least it’s shown that Boon and his friends have the ability to make something great.
Also, I’m looking forward to The Excellent Adventures of Aris and KayoPolice. :3
Actually there are some. I think clockwork has 2 evo moments back to back. all in the same match. The first one is him killing someones magneto and then the next is him winning the match all with a strider that was like 1% hp. A tap would have killed his strider but he played through and won. I forget what actual numbers those are but I know they’re evo moments.
This Evo definitely surprised me with all these upsets. Latif going through Tokido, Daigo, then Poongko?! And then losing to Fuudo? I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
Lambda beating Hazama in the Top 8, that was pretty crazy and Spark just not letting his opponents get a solid hit, it’s like he was reading minds with his defense.
Oh man. I love you. I completely agree and wish more people realized that. Japan and USA have had a looong rivalry. It’s all mostly friendly, I’d argue. Also in general, at events where people are there to watch something they love, people will get hella hype (sometimes rooting for the home team). Nothing wrong with that. I myself got super excited while watching the stream with my friends. Watch Japanese streams and listen to them also get hype. Reminds me of that Nuki commentating video - “Let’s go JUSTI-AAHHH” (if anyone is even familiar with that one)
