Evo laggy setups

aren’t you that akuma player i played on psn a looooooooooong time ago?

LOL yeah, sounds like me. I didn’t own a 360 until the PSN outage (I had considered getting a 360 anyway, so that just pushed me over the edge). PS3 is a great system, except for playing SF4 online haha

yeah, your psn was poe with a million 2’s lol you were actually the only akuma i enjoyed fighting!
ssfiv online was great when i first started playing it. i used to play it on wifi! i’m hardwired now, and it’s just bad.

Five of them, actually :stuck_out_tongue: but thank you. Definitely made a lot of good friends/training partners on PS3 back in the day. I’m sure my Akuma was pure genius next to all the jump back air fireball spammers that thought they were so clever lol…

I’m confused by your post though - you’re saying it’s slow now for you, in part because you use an ethernet cable instead of wifi?

Edit - I don’t want to hijack the thread with PSN glory days stories, and on that note I just read more of the previous pages and I feel even more strongly about it now. With $10,000 on the line, can’t we just play on CRTs?

It’s because of those splitters they were using for the headphones (which all not all stations had)

The system lag is game specific. For instance KOF 13 runs just about as well on both systems and I’ve never had a problem going between either of the consoles.

That being said for both Capcom games the PS3 version is massively inferior and for Marvel it is so inferior to the point where it can become an obstacle. I know it isn’t easy to just go to PS3, but I think PS3 is a problem for Capcom games.

The SF4 stations were terrible this year, but the KOF stations were almost perfect so I think that has more to do with the PS3 version of SF4 being so bad compared to 360. But I did notice the difference and it was large.

exactly! you were godsend compared to those akumas lol. not to mention you also did combos.
not because of the ethernet cable. it seems the game’s online just got laggy ~_~
i was getting tired of ssfiv anyways.

so the system that runs sf4 series and mvc3 series better is not a standard? what is it then, just a system that is better, not inferior to the ps3 version, and uhhh, okay, stfu. i mean, is this the type of post that people truly believe in these days? LOL, this nigga is a scrub and clearly misinformed. what do you need? all your stream icons to come tell you ps3 is inferior for you to be like, oh shit i was wrong. i know its hard for some of you to believe shit on the net, i get it, but some of us have actually had hand on experience, have heard opinions voiced by the top players dicks who you ride, and or are not just scrubs in general and can easily tell by first interaction.

anybody complaining now is ignoring evo history? is this sarcasm, am i getting trolled? LOL. the difference in ports is a known variable, but apparently the usb hub issues werent a known variable, and umvc3 ps3 issues can be random at times, not to mention the inherit 1 frame of lag on ps3 that sorry scrubs, can affect you if you dont have practice. the slowdown along with the input lag inherit in ps3 just makes for bad times in general, and nothing makes a Vs game player saltier then not getting out what he did.

“marvel has not been out for three years. ps3 version slows down a little in the places that the xbox version screen tears,”

hes talking about mvc2 also you dummy, which was better on the xbox360 also fyi. hold dat shit. so marlinpie, chris g, kbeast, pr rog, yipes are what, scrubs and dummies for complaining about ps3, because ive heard it out of their mouth in frustration and just casual talk outside of streams. its even funnier, because post evo on streams niggas was dissing ps3 because i wonder why, even though umvc3 isnt as bad, its still trash, and sf is still the same, but whatever, people are breaking under tourney pressure no matter what, and we’re all just wrong angry people on the internet calling you guys scrubs. ggs, you got me newsrk.

There’s no standard because there’s no control.

If there was an arcade version, and it slowed down exactly like the PS3 version, the PS3 version would be the perfect port.

If you were preparing for EVO on the 360 and you know your game has some differences that could affect your play on the PS3, it’s your fault for not playing the PS3 version to prepare.

Tell Capcom to fix their games. SEGA, ArcSys, SNK, Namco, Reverge Labs and NRS can make their ports 99% identical.

The trick is, it sounds like its worse than just the normal console war differences.

We get it… lame as it is, you have to play on the bad version for Evo, and there are reasonable reasons for it. If there was something else preventable making it worse (which I’d say there’s a fair deal of support for that at this point), that’s a whole different hill of beans.

Also, Reverge off that list, SkG is really bad on Xbox.

Incorrect. Everything people have brought up that could cause lag can be found in tech talk with hard data saying the difference is 0 or negligible (closer to 0 than 1 frame). The USB hub link has already been posted, Toodles tested.

SkG is only different in load times, not gameplay.

I just see a lot of bitching and whining in this thread. amirite?

I think multiple claims of people who plugged their stick into the USB headset hub, felt significant lag, then plugged their stick directly into the PS3 and noticed the lag disappear, far outweighs someone stating a generality about lag and USB devices.

Could be true or could be placebo effect.

This is getting dumb. People are actually suggesting the tournaments be run on CRTs now? The Asus VH236H is a sub 1 frame monitor. It’s been used by EVO and MLG because if this. Are people actually suggesting that EVO trade in the small, relatively cheap, easy to set up, and easy to store monitors and go back to hulking CRTs? CRTs that don’t even run at he HD resolutions these games are now designed for? And then multiply that by enough to run 1500 man tournments? Ultimately, all this would do is take less than 0.0167 second off of the setups. again this simply isn’t going to happen.

This thread is so full of hate and makes me gag.

How on earth would the anecdotal claims of a few people outweigh facts about how USB technology operates?

indeed. i sometimes hook up my playstation to my CRT to see if there’s any differences, and the picture is just soOoOo fugly! it doesn’t even look like the same game.

It could be, but it could also be something going on. Its hard to say. Stranger things have
happened. I personally think the USB hubs weren’t bad, but there are always problems that can arrise the aren’t normal.

The Xbox version plays closest to the arcade version of SF4. For Marvel I would pick the Xbox version because I have personally seen the PS3 fail so hard it cost someone a match.

If I had the choice of less lag or more lag I would always choose less lag. 2 frames can mean the difference between getting an anti-air successfully or getting hit by a jump in.

One thing no one is bringing up is the quality of the electricity, that makes a huge difference, and with the xtra hot weather if pools were happening during the time when the city and the venue had the highest draw on the power, that could cause the consoles to under preform
