are you guys sure the playstations at evo didn’t say like DS3, P83, PS8, P53, etc.?
Bonne Wonderland too. That’s the other stage people pick to avoid slowdown.
- PS3s were bought for EVO before Sony became a sponsor
- inb4 Ponder or Wizard tell you guys to buy 360s and copies of UMvC3 for 360 + DLC
They could just charge $10 more per entry (and $5 more per spectator) next year and say ‘hardware upgrades!’
Although I guess it’ll be pretty moot, we’re within a year or two of 8th gen (it is 8th, right?) consoles anyways.
It’s pretty bad when xTK setups slow down to psn status with 4 sticks plugged into the usb hub. But if you compare the speed differences with tagging between the 360 and ps3 versions, the ps3 version slows down with every tag in/out, whereas with 360, the speed is consistent.
I hope that if the new version of xTK is considered for next year, an alternative can be considered. I understand that there’s the usual 1-2 frames of lag between the 2 systems, but if it goes down to 3-5 frames(roughly I guess) in between tags, this is going to affect everyone.
i dont think tourney organizers will be copping the new xbox 720 and ps whatever for a bit until necessity deems it, and if anything, they will cop the cheaper version, which is the xbox720 but if it has issues playing other older games, that might pose a problem, or not if sponsors come in full strength. capcom definitely doesnt give a fuck about the fans, and barely its employees it seems lately, so maybe sf5 will drop for xbox720 and set tourney organizers for majors back a bit, especially if its better then ae2k12, and worth playing over ae2k12.
yeah, unfortunately that has been spotted before for years now, but its hard to pin down, and or ignored, but besides the former, ps3 randomness has been hard to pin down and replicate at times, making it even shittier. i mean even just a couple months ago yipes was on the mic talking about he switched teams because drones randomly slows down the game, and he felt his other team i assume execution wise was easier to handle ps3 randomness. aaaah, i shouldnt be posting. lol. its such a problem issue imo though, more so then anything else.
lol wut
On the subject of 60 GB launch model vs. 320 GB slim… there was no difference in performance. I ordered a new slim to replace my launch PS3, unpackaged it, and booted up the game. I wound up giving the new slim to my cousin. Both had framerate drops in the same areas under the same conditions between *Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 *and inFamous 2. You’re better off with an old model for the backwards compatibility.
Shakes Head
The PS3 has input delay of “about” 1-2 frames. It’s not just a “runs slower” argument it actually delays when you press a button. You can see it on the screen when you press buttons as plain as day on a CRT.
The Xbox 360 seems to run about 1 frame faster than the arcade version and PS3 version, but the inputs come out when you press them. Inherent delay on PS3 = inferior version. EVO uses PS3 because Sony is a sponsor and unless you have 100+ XBOX 360s to change over, they are going to keep running things on PS3.
Now with that said you guys KNOW that ASUS and PS3 will be used. Practice on it. 1080p Sony PS3 on a 236H Asus. I had no problems because I played the game for about a week before to get accustomed to the timing. It’s the players faults for not getting used to this timing. Can’t blame “lag” for any of this for AE. Not sure about the other games but from what I know those are frame drops, etc. AE is specifically the 1-2 frame lag but you all know what will be used in the tournament when you practice.
Most majors use 360 now. Most people play on 360. This is a fact.
Tekken 6 was developed on PS3 hardware. That should ALWAYS be played on PS3 regardless.
The people that “missed” combos on stream probably have valid arguments because playing on streams adds an ADDITIONAL frame or so of lag for MOST stream setups because it has to be put in 720p whereas even if SFAE was developed in 720p the Native Resolution of the monitor is 1080p and the latency is WORSE on 720p monitors for SFAE on PS3.
It’s all about the native resolution of your TV. 480P native on CRT = no lag just like super miniscule doesn’t really count lag on ASUS.
Also, there was no lag from the headset USB hubs. The lag issues people have are specifically not being used to PS3 since they play on 360 mostly and don’t use ASUS monitors AND the issue for stream as well.
Again, I am super sensitive to lag, but you guys know the setups so it’s more like whining in here. I got to finals of my pool and lost but I am certain my close loss to Momochi wasn’t a lag issue, lol
Also a big thumbs up, not EVERYONE gets 1 frame combos in the heat of the moment. That’s armchair athletes thinking that is a given. I missed a freaking EX Headbutt in the middle of trying to anti-air Momochi. Must be the lag, right?
Combofiend lost one match to Chris G in Marvel due to known framerate issues. Even Yipes mentioned it because it was easily visible. This only happens on PS3, training stage or not. It sucks, but until the players start demanding a switch, they’ll have to deal with it.
Well it was my first evo and I had fun regardless. Whether or not I practiced on a ps3 before hand, its easier to swallow a loss because I got beat by the player and not by the setup. Even winning when you know that the opponent dropped a combo due to the system is pretty hollow. Besides, if you watched off stream pools or even money matches on ps3, there was noticeable lag and dropped combos from top players. I think the fact that most of the majors use 360’s should say something. I don’t feel the need to buy an extra system, game, and monitor to simulate an inferior setup. Whether its whining or not is really irrelevant when the fact is the game runs better on the 360 and it does affect the gameplay.
Then don’t complain about lag playing at Evo if you’re not gonna bother to play on the Setup YOU KNOW is going to be used. That’s cool if you don’t care cus Evo doesn’t care about your preference either.
Your tears. They are delicious. Evo is on PS3. Thats a fact. Play on the tourney standard, or go home crying on the internet like a 5 year old girl. Oh wait, you just did that.
There is so much misinformation and half truth in here it’s downright sad. These kind of discussions should really be on tech talk because there’s people there who are actually able to test this stuff out. I’d prefer that to pages of people misquoting “facts” they once heard.
Holly fuck i think you need to get laid. This nigga took time out of his life to write a fucking essay about PS3 lagging.
What did any of that have to do with DreamTR?
didnt read that correctly my viewer is not showing the right shit in the quote box. disregard. Sorry.
d3v would have infracted 3/4 of this thread if this were in tech talk, which I’m sure the EVO setup was already ran and tested by a dozen times from someone in tech talk.
HDMI.
It’s mixed. I was actually looking for a fat PS3 at one point, but all 7-14 and another chunk that I checked were using slims. Then I had something to do some went back to 14. I think it’s mostly slims at this point.
As regards Xbox, I heard some rumor that old machines used to burst into flames and kill babies when they overheated. That may have influenced the course of history(?).
Amen. Training stage is unfortunately the only place to play on some of these newer derpily flashy stages in games. We need tournament approved stages. =P
You forgot one part of the option select:
“I (or some popular player) didn’t even show up, so obviously there is a question of who is truly the best”
It’s the reason that they used a real arcade ST setup for the Tournament of Legends. Different versions of the same game have different properties. It was announced which version was going to be played and if people didn’t bother to practice on the chosen version I can’t really feel sorry for them.
