Man I can relate to you guys, I would of been in the GF’s against Perfect legend and Fchamp but that damn lag! I hope next year MK SFxT n UMVC3 will be on the PS Vita because that is my console of choice for FG’s then I can just win EVO forever.
it is what it is. its unfortunate for now, but dont feel alone in the complaints. everyone from regular joe, to faces of the community know ps3 is ass in general. every single old new fighting game, or new fighting game is better on xbox360, and its not even just the inherit problems with ps3 input lag itself, but like others have said about random game lag, overheating due to old ps3’s being random issues, ect… the best you can do is practice ps3 exclusive as much as you can before evo, or just not enter and enjoy the show.
i mean everyones trying to be in everyones pockets so to speak, and uber nice to each other, but like shoultz said, evo would constantly seek to always play on the best port,and just tournies in general, but a problem arose when they got all those ps3’s because of the sponsorship and tekken dr, but then all these other fg’s dropped that were just shitty on ps3. if your a competitive gamer and you have no complaints from xbox360 to ps3, your a scrub, because its so blatantly apparent.its not okay to complain about sf and marvel on ps3, but if it was st, its okay.like no one is playing on anything but the euro version of the roms for old vs games, and the specific versions matching the appropriate patches, but all of a sudden, nah, stop complaining. hows it changed from older games to newer ones in general other then the fact that people keep feeding you bullshit and telling you to stfu even if you have a valid point. im confused. lol
i mean im all for the support of evo and tournies in general, but speak out with your wallets. dont fucking waste money if the setup is not to your liking, or just shitty in general. tourney organizers would catch on quick, and start making moves to ensure that people show up by being much more mindful of their setups. until then, keep wasting your money on shitty setups and complaining. i empathize that shit isnt free, so some tournies just do what they gotta do, but i think as a whole if we can just get people to stop frontin and come clean that yeah, this shits ass, then it would be all good. i mean, its just odd that ive talked to and or heard out of the mouth’s of top 8 marvel and sf players about how ps3 fucking sucks, or at the very least, they know 360 is better and are aware of the issues and changes you have to adjust too to even be able to play, but like no one is having an open discussion about it.
why? because there is this dumb mentality of, yo, just buy a ps3 or pratice somehow on it before a tourney and stfu, but like even for the og ps3 tournies, they could even reach out to the community to be like, help us change. im sure out of the 500 or more that show up to majors, 60 of them would be willing to bring their xbox360s to play on for the weekend, granted there was good security and some type of insurance.
pre 09 we worked with what we had for sure, but we were vocal on shit that still wasnt a great arcade perfect port like sf alpha anthology, but now its all, stfu and buy a ps3 or stfu, but really people should be discussing it more, and testing it more, but like i said, if numbers in majors dropped from 600 down to 150 out of nowhere, but people still tuned into streams or came to spectate, that would be more then enough to be like wait wtf happened and why.
to all the new players, dont get trapped in this bullshit by these so called og’s and or just extremely vocal people. we make this shit happen, its not the other way around. if we stop showing up, shit will change quick, and what are you supporting just to support for. in hopes that one day the tourney will switch over to what you finally like, and is truly the most acceptable setup for the game. what if they dont, thousands wasted on travel, food, misc, and tourney fees just for you to what, not play on the most optimal setup.
the reality of ps3 is its not just about practicing on ps3, its that finicky at times. the reality of xbox360 is not so complex, its almost always how its suppose to be, when its suppose to be that way, and thats for games even outside of fg’s. i support the community, but dont enter shit that ultimately is not good for you. THIS IS YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. if you know you truly will not be able to be competitive on an ps3 setup, then dont enter. dont fall into the hype of, oh you didnt make top 8 or 16 in a major, you cant be that good, so you go on some false journey into shitty situations that just end up wasting your time and money. we resolve those problems easy. money matches on proper setups. you top 8, but im bottom 32, we’ll see, bet it.

we are basically like shoultz said, playing mvc2 on ps2 and being like, stfu just practice on ps2 even if teh dremcast version is the closest to arcade, or playing st on ps1 or ps2 and being like, stfu, just practice it. playing old school Vs series on ps1 or some crazy shit. like no, when did we start sucking the cocks of people we dont know, for brownie points we DONT NEED, to spend money on shit we love, only for it to be on the worst available port, with most likely little to no initiative made to change that. final round and evo’s numbers are pretty high, so that might be a harder task for them, but when it comes to locals, and a few other majors, they should be seeking community help at least, if there is no sponsorship help.
i think on some peoples part, its legit pure laziness, and we might not want to accept, or someone who is a friend of a friend will come in here and yell that its not that easy, but lets get real, mofos be lazy sometimes, and easy problems arent solved when they could be.

SFXT is bad on xbox ? i played it on my friends xbox and it ran indentical to the ps3 version.
I believe it was Eurogamer that wrote a short, not very descriptive article saying that the 360 had slowdowns in certain areas, but since they were more casual gamers (and did not even go into hard numbers) all they really said was that there wasn’t enough of a difference to be noticeable or something.
You guys are retarded. Playing MvC2 on PS2 was bad because there was an arcade and a great DC port to compare it to. There are only two versions of MvC3: The one that gets played at Evo and the other one.

playing on ps3 mvc3 is bad because there is a great port in the x360 version. =\
there is a MASSIVE difference between ps3 marvel and x360 marvel. Ps3 has this weird ass frame rate issue that has been documented and this frame rate issue is caused by hitting normals something that needs to be done every round. God forbid that if you pop XF or activate a mode super like astral vision, the game is having a fit graphically and that shit affects play. Since the game can’t process the frames properly, it slows down WAYYY more than it does on x360 so this affects everything. Speed of combos, speed of the counter layers, how you perform techniques like multiple plink dashes and who knows what other ramifications are involved with all that extra additional slow down.
if you have contradicting claims as to why you think ps3 is fine, I’m all ears but your opinions are not facts.
SFxT team tournament had some big problems with laggy setups. We couldn’t nail down the exact cause, but having as little dual modded controllers plugged into the usb splitter as possible, and using training stage seemed to make it at least manageable.
But before that was found out, people unfortunately played tournament matches where hitting any sort of difficult link (especially in the corner) was nearly impossible. This isn’t hearsay, this is my own personal experience as well as others. And I’m sure if any of the judges that were scrambling to try to make the game playable want to chime in, they would attest to it as well.
Not that it matters, as I highly doubt the game will be played next year. But a heads up to anyone that is running an SFxT team tournament in the future. (Don’t. Play singles ya derp.)

I normally play on 360, but I got the ps3 version of UMvC3 since I knew I’d need to adjust to the lag. I practiced my combos for the whole week before EVO. I felt pretty confident in knowing the timing. When I got to vegas and started playing on their systems, the games seemed to be missing a number of my inputs in my basic combos. Hell when I played Noel Brown in a casual match I only won because he dropped a basic combo due to the lag. It really seems like something was up with their systems/monitors. But who knows, it really could be just my nerves getting the better of me.
If you’re on Marvel only play Training stage, simple as that. I thought everyone knew this by now?
