If you have proof of his ability to infinite even with the nerfing, then by all means, show it. I want things like this out there, so that the next time someone draws the parallel between Seth and Gill, you can say ‘It won’t work; here’s why’, and link to video proof.
Typical of someone who doesn’t seem to know how to read. I’m not saying allow him in '09 without testing. That would be absolutely ridiculous. Go back, reread my post, and make sure you understand what I am saying. As far as that last sentence is concerned, I AGREE WITH YOU. I’m saying DON’T put him in '09, but DO run other, smaller, testing situations, and see what happens.
They did the exact same thing with Akuma in HDR, where he had to be proven to be broken again. Personally, I don’t even care about 3S anymore, because I realize that I personally suck at it, and no matter what, I just can’t advanc ein that particular game, and dropped it.
But I take issue with valid-sounding ideas being shouted down like they’re advocating items to the Smashboarders, without offering any shred of evidence to support the claim. That’s why I issued the challenge to the person I saw as being first to simply dismiss it out of hand (no, seriously, substitute the Smashfags’ stock response to items in Brawl for what was said in this thread. Sounds eerily similar).
We can tone down Akuma in HDR by banning his super. In other words if anyone uses his super then they are disqualified. Reinstate Akuma with his super banned…
As for Gill make his handicap either 30% or 50%.
I agree with you that most people do that. Just look at Magic The Gathering where people say we should ban this and ban that…
BTW I’m officially inspired after reading the rules to make top 8 in SFIV. Only 2 colors until top 8?!! I’m gonna be mad the whole way to top 8. Need my RED VIPER!!!
I really do love the people who complain ‘‘you’re making ME switch?’’. If we change console, then the other side will have the same argument. What makes you more valuable than them?
who said anything about me being more valuable than others, not everyone has an extra 100-150$ bucks lying around or has modding experience. Aside trying to compete, heading up to LV, hotel costs and other shit its really expensive. I really wanna go and compete.
I KNOW im not the only one with this probelm, so its not like im being selfish.
I dont understand why its not possible to have multi-consoles like other tournies, im sure peepo wont have a problem bringing 360’s
Multi-system consoles for the same game would lead to confusion IMO. Players would have to face other players based on console…and it further seperates the bracket arrangements. Evo might as well just make Evo 360 and Evo PS3 championships.
Making it one console for current gen fighters it more streamline…and since the staff chose the PS3, oh well for 360 players.
Again, the ruleset was announced in MARCH, so you had MONTHS to figure out a gameplan…and it’s NOW that you are bitching? (Yes, I’m calling you selfish)
If I really wanted to compete in EVO, and Evo decided to make it a 360 tourney, I would either:
Buy a 360 stick for Evo
Make my own 360 stick
Borrow a 360 stick from a friend
PS3, IN GENERAL, is CRAP ocmpared to 360. play a bigger community on XBL than PSN, way better exclusives for 360, much better controller imo, BUUUUT, when you relate it to a fighting gaem competition, the inferior console (that’s so “superior” some game-developers have difficulty even making a game for it) actually WINS, believe it or not.
Wiz even said everything would be PS3 during the HDR beta since that was a deciding factor for a lot of us on what console to get for it (and inevitabely SF4). The beta was out in June of 2008. Bringing this up one month away from Evo is just a moot point and all it is is just last minute whining.
With the scene so flooded with sticks because of SF4, I don’t even know what the complaint is at this rate. I know very few top players (none) that play primarily on a pad for anything anymore. If you don’t have a stick or haven’t been practicing on one your chances of actually “competing” at EVO are less than good.
Note: I’m not saying if you play on a controller you’re bad. I’m just saying you could be better on a stick.
I would actually favor multi-console tourneys for the most part, but in SF4 there is a real speed difference between the two versions. Took me awhile to start hitting reversals & certain combos on PS3 since it’s slower.
Apparently that’s closer to the arcade speed too, so Evo kinda lucks out there.
there are console exclusive characters in sf4 and i know most japanese players only play in arcades. would this give them an fair advantage to play characters they never faced before?
