Tenren is pretty underrated. People need to remember he’s using a LOW-TIER character. (Whereas all the strongest players I’m reading here main chun/yun/Ken and high tiers)
He did beat pyro in a denjin tourney offline and 5star in casuals. 5star eventually read his playstyle and easily beat him after.
Not trying to take any sides, but Everyone likes to compare each other and call you ‘riders’. It’s pretty silly.
all that doesn’t matter in this thread. What matters is what we are trying to organize.
someone proposes an offline meetup and look what it breaks down into? That is the problem with 3S community. as much dislike as I have for the SF4 series i play it because those guys who are good int the game or trying to get good will actually meet up and play. I want that spirit of competiton and hype back in 3S
Scheduling a GGPO/offline gathering would be dope. If Tenren, Cruise, etc. went to Denjin before then I don’t see why the wouldn’t again. The problem would be with the Midwest/EC players.
Without GGPO, 3S would’ve died a quick death. At least people can actually play the game, and when 3SOE comes out, it might get a revival, and be at EVO. 3S is empty at my arcade, and now that AE is there, no one has the incentive to play 3S until 3SOE comes out. And even then, they will play at home on their Xbox/PS3. You have the wrong idea if you think I don’t want 3S to become popular again, or at least steady. There’s probably tons of new players on GGPO playing 3S because of 3SOE, and that’s a good thing.
Also, you guys are overreacting about the online/offline thing. Obviously lag comes in the issue, but you get used to it like you would the PS2 version. I doubt Tenren would suck if he goes to the arcade because people like to think it’s a “whole new game.” Stop trying to frighten new players with this propaganda.
And I didn’t even think about what MvC3 will do vs 3SOE.
joecondor and kitten would never even participate in any 3s event in real life. so asking them to come, is sadly just a waste of time.
lol thats not all you said. you are the person who started all the trolling in this thread. then kittens took over your job easily and out trolled you.
I have no problem admitting theres good players on ggpo. yuuki, neiman, jordan, nica are the guys that stand out to me.
he beat pyro 1 game. good shit to tenren, but hes no where near the level of pyro or 5star. tiers do not matter in america because no one is a true master at their character and not many people know wacky matchups.
yeah but arcade 3s is the game in its purest form. this is what the game was invented for.
im sure if every ggpo player was given the option of playing arcade vs playing online theyd all pick arcade.
i dont really understand.
we could have h2h, one side crt monitor, one side lcd monitor so they can have a lil lag.
or we can get really long h2h cables and put one side in the closet. then they can have the privacy and play in their boxers if they want. just like home. lol just joking.
tenren doesnt suck. but hes not a big boy in this game like you think he is.
And you’re going to tell me you’re a “big boy” in this game? This whole thread is about competition with GGPO vs IRL. I don’t care what you think about Tenren because you’re no one to me (like I am no one to you) except another forum poster who has a different opinion on a player. Have you even played him? I’d like to see you use Ibuki, and beat good players like 5Star/Pyro. And it’s hilarious how people seem to think GGPO is so different than offline 3S. Does that make Tenren an even better player because he’s on GGPO?
It’s hilarious how you think GGPO and arcade don’t differ, you clearly haven’t spent enough time playing online. There are tons of things that make the online experience a nightmare.
1.) FPS (this is client side, so if you have a great computer you won’t experience the shittyness of the player on the other side.)
2.) Input Delay (Smoothing) - This is mandatory if you are playing anybody over 60 ping, if it’s not raised it wont smooth over and the game will be jittery and frames will be lost. The downside of this is, the more you raise it the more you go under water, every move feels heavier.
3.)Lag spikes (I don’t even feel like I should explain how this could be a HUGE problem when your in geneijin or trying to confirm something, ect ect.)
4.)General Ping lag (there’s default delay from the lag you have based on your connection with the player.)
With that said, playing online under some of these circumstances can make simple dash-ins and even jump-ins become free. Lag/Frame loss/input delay, and trying to strong fierce a dash-in is 5x harder online then it is online. Reversal supering blocked cr.mk and st.rh vs Ken is pretty easy offline, its easily a challenge online. Whatever I say you’re going to find a way to tell me I’m wrong and I’m a scrub.
Oh and playing online makes fighting Ibuki harder, shes a reactive character, you have to be able to see what shes doing at all times, seeing how tenren loves to jump and dash through you on wake up, this becomes easily more difficult, also red parrying her air 1-2’s is cake offline where online it’s just not going to be consistent, missing that can cause you to be 1-2’ launched into an ambiguous dash under/bait, you have to adapt to just blocking and block pressure is gdlk with ibuki as she can cmd dash and dash thru you with all this lag, its mad hard to see. I’m not saying tenren would suck offline, he’s an amazing Ibuki player, but he definitely has an advantage online. Forgot to mention all her overheads are super quick, reacting to her toward mk or Hien online is a joke.
Why are you playing people from different coasts, and with ping over 60? Next thing you’re going to tell me is that it lags when playing someone from US to Europe.
I only follow Justin Wong/Tenren, and Japan. Why weren’t you at EVO placing top 15? Top 10? Simple question. You’re probably going to tell me EVO is a waste of time just like SBO.
He is you moron. Definitely one of the best players in the U.S., definitely better than Justin Wong, and definitely better than all these east coast noobs that worship Justin as a 3s player. He was ranked in the game spot dan battles in Japan. Show some respect nooooob
ive never done well at evo. i dont blame my skill for that. i blame console, or my drinking problem. vegas is quite the distraction if youve ever been.
but i dont like to brag about tourney results. i dont consider tourney results to be the end all argument when it comes to skill personally.
So, you’re going to blame the console while Japanese players come to the US, and play on the consoles just fine? OOOOOOOkay. If you had something to brag about, you probably would because you did it often in this thread with “I can beat you with any character,” “I’ve played this game more than you,” “you’ve never played at the arcade,” etc…
i just dont like to brag because i dont believe tourney results mean everything, make sense?
also i also believe i have a lot to learn in 3s. i think im strong for an american player but not as strong in japan. i know where i stand.
but i just kinda wanna shut you up so…
i always get top 8 or better in every american tourney i enter no matter what.
i have gotten 2nd place TWICE at the mikado 1man team tourneys.
I have tied for 2nd at game bingo singles (no slouches there)
pherai mentioned it already but my team got 2nd place at the pre sbo tourney this past year.
I have played in 10th dan like mio and aku mentioned. My ken also was up to 7 at one point. anyone thats been to game versus danisen knows how difficult it is just to get out 1-4.
I wasnt as strong as a player before moving to japan to be honest.
I now try to teach people what ive learned and maybe spread some of the knowledge i know about 3s.
anyone that knows me irl knows im not egotistical and im genuinely nice. so i dont know what you want from me man lol.
