take the players that play on GGPO like every so often and put them up against a team of players that frequent denjin and play offline more than online

I really like the idea of that team point based system tourney. The one that is used in the videos frankie posted most recently.
Just do it game versus style. Make a whole weekend out of it.

Sat - team tourney with something fun (ggpo vs irl)
Sunday - 5vs5 or 3v3
Also I vote denjin. Not sure I’m gonna be able to attend anyways but I’d much rather support denjin than trying to organize this shit on console in byoc.

ggpo uses a emulated version of arcade, so really they should be used to arcade timing rather than ps2 timing.
I have no problem playing 3s on arcade from playing on ggpo. its literally the exact same minus lag. How about the character tier/point tourney thing?
Team = Maximum of 11 points, (really anything you want it to be.)
7 pts = Chun, Yun
6 pts = Ken, Makoto
5 pts = Yang, Gouki, Urien. and so on.

The tier thing… I can see some problems happening.
Not enough low tier players in America being the biggest problem.
Not enough players in general being difficult too. If we have realistically like 30 entrants, it will be hard.
How many American players can properly use a low tier.

Imo this will encourage people to learn low tier. It’s not even that Yun/Chun are THAT broken, it’s that we in america aren’t good enough with lower tier characters to compete with them.
There’s not many competent chun and yun players in America, so soft banning wouldn’t do much.
Like the thing I’m trying to say is to make a complete team within the tier regulations, there’s gonna be two outcomes:
Quite a few people are gonna get left out.
There’s gonna be a bunch of people using characters they don’t even know how to play.
It could get ugly IMO.
