That’s why this ruleset is a compromise. They took out the biggest complaint items (save Smash Ball, which is highly up for debate unlike a lot of the items removed from this ruleset). It’s also a compromise with regards to counterpicking.
Play what’s fun for you, if you don’t like it then don’t play. It’s not a difficult concept to understand. People aren’t going to play something they don’t enjoy, and that’s fine, but keep it to yourself because no cares about your opinion.
I agree. But I’m not arguing the specifics for this year; I’m arguing the all-or-nothing fallacy. And yeah, we probably should be using more of the items/stages.
They took out the biggest complained about items? From what I have seen there is a bigger amoutn of people that actually go to in person tourneys and would be your core audience for a smash brothers tournament that complain about them being on at all, but were completely ignored. Most complained about thing in this tourney IS the fact that items are on. I can deal with the shitty level choices, just because I play metaknight and D3 won’t be able to chain grab me, but really?
As someone pointed out, my point is that the decision to ban some items because SRK forum members that play smash, a lot smaller population then SWF/AiB players, is hypocritical since any argument pointed out from SWF was just blown off. I think there was a definite bias and community hate going on in this decision. I think the rules choice was to simply troll smash brothers and ban it from Evo once and for all so they can say “look it was in small attendance, the game isn’t competitive, etc… blah blah blah”.
The impression I got from The Wizard is that he was asking for opinions, on the original rules topic, he got them, it was locked when he got pushed into a corner. Also the impression I get is if we aren’t elite SRK members for years and don’t participate in your goofy wifi tournaments our opinions are not taken into account. I mean the community should help decide what’s best for tournament rulesets and the community. Usually feedback is taken with a little consideration, but this attitude of you just telling us to shuttup is obviously quite hypocritical since you listen to everything the SRK community says about turning off certain items and levels, but not the SWF or AiB community.
I play whats fun for me with my friends. That’s called friendlies. I play whats competitive, balanced, represents the skill of the players accurately in tournaments. That’s called a match. Tournament play is fun, but it sounds kinda goofy the way you put that as well.
Not many, due to items.
(Stickin’ it to the man)
I don’t think brawl really fits into Evo.
Evo generally has 2d fighters, and a lot of the people that plas sf games and such really hate smash.
Just try mentioning smash outside of this forum.
What about guilty gear, evo’s most popular game last year, why was that taken out. I mean the people at the top have these serious agendas they seem to be pushing and I have no idea why. It’s a tournament, the point is to get people there to play, make the event big, everyone’s playing styles clashing, and everyone having fun. Seems like they have pissed a lot of people off over and over. It’s tiring to me that tournament organizers are so unprofessional and don’t run things like a true business, for the customers.
A true business (Evo organizers) pulled Guilty Gear this year because their customers (players) completely fucked up when it came to the finals last year. Surprise surprise, you don’t know what’s actually going on.
Wait, what did the players do?
lol @ marvel being #1 at evo.
try 3s, son.
Lol…what? Maybe you got the wrong impression. I don’t listen to everything the srk community has to say. I’ve only played with items about twice in my whole life and it just doesn’t appeal to me. I’ve been to a countless amount of tournaments across the east coast throughout my 3 years of playing melee and brawl. Maybe that’s why items don’t appeal to me, because i’m not used to that ruleset. All i was trying to say was that at this time, people’s opinions don’t matter, because the rule set is already made.
ggxx was the 3rd most popular game last year, speaking when you dont know the truth makes you look like a fool.
