If I see to the needs of people other than myself as well, then this is probably one of the better line-ups I could hope for.
I don’t really care for much other than KOF13 getting another shot since the only game on the list that I actually play is UMVC3. Congrats to all the KOF peepz getting another year. The oldest school game getting another run. Even if there’s like 5 old men who say its not as old school as the other KOF games. Almost makes me wanna pick it up.
Strekken getting in is cool. Still not perfect IMO but I see it ending up like a tag version of Alpha 1 which sounds fun.
Unless Skullgirls, 3S or CVS2 is the 8th game I could care less. Oh and shouts to another big line up for Evo. Haven’t had 8 games at Evo since like 03 or 4.

I don’t think there’s a chance that Melee or Brawl is gonna make it. I went over to smashboards when I saw the announcement, and they are being incredibly pessimistic about this whole thing. Conspiracy theories and all that, with not trusting that all the money is gonna go to the charity, or that they’ll make excuses to make it so smash can’t make it, or that apparently companies are allowed to put as much money into it as they want. They also think it’s shady that you can’t see how much is being donated towards each game. They are also paranoid about not being able to use their own standard rulesets (like they have at Apex all the time).
So yeah, I think it’s gonna be safe to say that you shouldn’t expect smash to make it this year.
EDIT: Also they don’t like the implication that Smash wasn’t legitimately voted for in the FB poll.
isn’t Evo dumping CRTs this year too? if I were a smash fan I wouldn’t care either.
Fuck those people then. There are way better games that could make the 8th spot than Smash.

I am convinced Capcom made a threat and forced Evo staff to have Strekken return. They probably threatened sponsorship deals or getting early access or info on future fighters. Maybe withhold access to new Darkstalkers?
Because it makes no sense to bring back a game that has been at next to no tournaments in the last 6 months and with an upcoming patch that does remarkably little.
The viewership on stream(s) will be cut in half when Strekken is on. Mark my words.

I honestly think MLP will make it, and 
They probably didn’t want to be the ones to **** on Capcom’s effort and declare SFxT dead before the patch is out. At the worst case the game will be a flop but it’s not that big of a deal, yes SCV or even DOA5 probably deserves to be in the lineup before SFxT but it’s not like any of these games will be missed much if they isn’t in the lineup. So they might as well benefit if SFxT 2013 does indeed turn out to be a success, and if it turns out to be a failure they’ll finish the game quickly and quietly on Friday.
I’ll eat that crow happily. If you heard the show last night you also heard the frustration in Wizard’s voice when he said the community better show up or anime games really are done. That’s why I hat no faith at all. There’s a history on how bad anime does at EVO.
