Evo 2010 Game Announced Live on SRK Podcast @ 7PM PST!

I noticed that someone got flamed earlier for suggesting that both renditions of SFIV, but thinking about it now, I honestly would not be surprised if SSFIV was (obviously) the main tournament and there was some sort of side tournament for the vanilla version. Sure, it sounds dumb, but at the same time there may be enough minor tweaks to the system and new matchups that it would scare off some of the casual gamers that are just still getting into SFIV (if there are any of them left).

Hope I don’t get flamed for this. Just a thought I had.

Tekken 6
Super Street Fighter 4
Super SF4 2v2 Teams
HDR
Blazblue: CS

and thats my list

SSF4
T6
Marvel
HDR
SC4
BB:CS

SSF4
Tekken 6
MvC2
Blazblue: CS
HDR
TvC

IMO.

To those who think that BlazBlue will get a new reincarnation, I don’t think that a new reincarnation of the game will arrive in time for EVO. I’m saying this in consideration of the fact that Arksys is pretty reliable of getting new versions of Guilty Gear out every year, but with the early EVO date, I just don’t think that the new version will be out in time to get any decent BB action. It is almost like SF4 at Final Round last year.

As for my predictions:

SSF4
Tekken 6
BlazBlue
TvC(american version)

The above are for sure.

MvC2
and quite possibly vanilla SF4 as a side event.

BlazBlue plz, Imma start training today.

add call of duty? Game is new, really likable and media grabber like SF4. Then as a special event like a EC vs WC in Mortal Kombat(Old ones of course), Killer Instinct, Puzzle Fighter or Mario Kart. Adding SF4 again would be nice too.

Please stick to fighting games. It’s what Evo was built on.

Well the only thing you might get flamed for I would think is double posting that dumb shit. I know it’s just a thought and you’re not even the one really suggesting it so it’s just a thought. Anyone who would suggest that knows it wouldn’t be worth the trouble and Evo pushed us to play SFIV in the biggest open tourney of Evo’s history with over a 1,000 people and gave us 4 months after the game’s release to do it. Evo even started one month earlier than normal which gave us even less time to practice a game most had almost no mechanic understanding of or even played. You just gotta put yourself in the hyperbolic time chamber and man up. We’re going to have to man up more than ever simply because every character will be different, the game mechanics will be a good bit different and with 10 new characters it’s going to be really easy to get randomed out by some shit you haven’t seen before. Especially considering there were no Japanese videos for us to watch prior to the game’s release (and won’t be any EVEN AFTER). With how big SFIV is there days you won’t even have time to do anything else other than stay by your bracket. SFIV is almost too big for Evo’s own good now.

You think that’s a funny thought? Just like last year I know there’ll be a small grouping of Xbox only players who will suggest that there should be an Xbox 360 Super SFIV tournament. Even suggest to have Xbox consoles for the PS3 Super tournament so that Xbox players have something to play on. Which without standardizing the tournament to one system things would never get done. It’s unfortunate but that’s just the way things are. Xbox pad users have to learn to use a PS3 pad or pick up a good stick and dual mod it.

No love for melty I see.
Would like to see:

sf4
t6
bb
mbaa
hdr
mvc2/st/option select capcom og game

Let’s hope BB2 is out(console release) before then, because the first one is pretty good. I doubt there will be anything big with TvC but I bet a smaller thing will be set up sometime for it.

Anything but Puzzle Fighter HDR would be baaaad idea.

I think it would be easier to stick with PS3s because microsoft has all that protection stuff with their controllers and sony is lax about that stuff.

Actually Deviljin, I’ve heard a number of top players request that Evo switch to 360. It’s more popular among Capcom players (although 3-D & Blazblue communities are the opposite), and it doesn’t have a lot of the big tourney problems PS3 does (e.g. wireless pausing, “You did not earn a trophy”, HD Remix button config bug).

Still don’t think it will happen, but it’s not a completely off-the-wall idea…

I like 360 much more than ps3 for t6 and sf4 but that’s personal opinion. whatever is there is what i play on.

Other than games, what about special events? What would you guys like to see?

Bang The Machine!

Tomo in person would be pretty cool. Gina Carrera would be fun too. Oh and talking to Cami in person. She’s all super bubbly n shit. Need to have a real life conversation n shit. I’m sure it’d be mad cute/funny. Ok so that’s only a special event for me but yeah.

^ This.

Personally i think this is a good way to balance the old and the new games. So that the previous generation’s great games can still get their game in if enough people show up, and we can have new games in the main lineup as well.

-Bang the Machine

-Toan vs Fanatiq Round 3 (if it doesn’t happen by then, the amount of money alone is :wow:)

-Alpha 3 Invitational (hey I can dream, introduce new players to an older game)

-MVC2 Low Tier Tournament Invitational

Yes I quoted myself I mentioned this awhile back and I don’t know if this post put an idea in someones head to do it this EVO (the Cannon bros got this award this past evo don’t know the actual name of the award though) but it would be cool to do this again.

I vote: Mr Wiz/Seth Killian

Bang the Machine + toan vs fanatiq in a 100k money match are what dreams are made of
