The sacrifice of another Dreamcast!
As much as I would absolutely Loverman SHABA! to have TvC in Evo. I’d have to agree with both the haters -_-, and the unbiased. It won’t turn real numbers @ Evo specifically compared to other titles because there are way too many things against it having a good run this year.
I would rather see this game being ran as a side tourney, and with all of the TvC captains backing it up; Keits, RoyalFlush, Jimmy, and a select others to megahype that ish up who got much love for the game. On the cool, TvC: UAS deserves better than to be given a chance and then get shitty numbers because of the system it’s being played on.
So in honor of those who don’t like to spend money on systems for 1 solitary game but will gladly spend it on a stick that costs more than the used price of that system:xeye: to play other games with, and complains like they don’t have $$$ to travel to these tourneys that however still manages to money match for god knows how much on whatever game. This for you, comrade, yes?:
Super Street Fighter 4
Tekken 6
HDR
MvC2
SC4
Those are the new money makers, and most popular right now so it makes sense. Anything else is up to Evo staff. I’m pretty sure those five will make it.
My only regret was that I wish SNK would’ve put time into making Garou 2 instead of KOFXII with all that amazing sprite style. Garou 2 definitely woulda made it to Evo imo. Oh well.
Needs both a singles and team tourney for SSFIV in my opinion. Most of the players are coming for that one game anyhow.
A showing of BTM would be cool.
There is already a lifetime achievement award. Its called a ‘Cannon’ and it was given to Tom and Tony Cannon last year for the first time for their indispensable over-decade long contributions to our community.
I would suspect Wiz and Seth are prime candidates to get one this year if it happens again.
Yeah I know it exists which is why I said it would be a good idea to do it again I just didn’t know the name of the award. Being presented with a “Cannon” sounds funny and cool at the same time, clever idea for the name. It would be funny to on the side also get a real cannon or cannonball lol.
Another idea for special events would be also to have a viewing of I Got Next (completed version) or King of China Town Fair (I think that’s the name). When you add those 2 with Bang the Machine you have 3 good choices on what to view and they all involve the fighting game community. I’m not saying show all 3 but I don’t think you could go wrong showing any of the 3 movies.

Can we get a petition going on voting for Mvc2 to be on dreamcast instead of x360 or ps3. My opinion is dreamcast should be used as a backup if the game is not patched aka (dreamcast perfect) by the time its time for evo. =/
Start a poll in the EVO or MvC2 section, though even if the majority choose the DC port of MvC2, it’s obvious that the PS3 version will be used this year. The convenience of using the PS3 version is probably more important to EVO than using the better version port wise. “DC is dead”. Unless you can supply enough DCs, MvC2 copies, and PS2/DC converters of course.
And if the PS3 version is shown to be hated by the MvC2 community enough that it won’t be back next year (unless Capcom patches it again) then that’s what will happen. The DC version of ST made a return after being set aside for other versions (CCC2/AE/PS1) so there is a precedent. CCC2 was removed as the tournament standard for ST after it was tested to have input lag. If the PS3 MvC2 port is shown to have egregious differences between the DC port then perhaps it will no longer be the EVO standard.
That being said, the majority of the HDR community wanted 16:9 to be the standard for EVO, yet 4:3 was eventually chosen instead (even after 16:9 was the initial standard for EVO it was changed because of the opinions of a few) . So even then the majority has little say.
The real problem here is that Capcom didn’t make an arcade perfect port for the PS3/360 for MvC2. The ideal solution would be to have as many people as possible enter for MvC2 this year and prove to Capcom that the game is still a community favorite. Then you write to Capcom or Capcommunity or whatever and say “MvC2 had a lot of entrants, epic finals, loads of hype at EVO2010…is it too much to ask for a patch to make the new versions arcade perfect”?
The dreamcasts are gone. They were all sold or destroyed at Evo2k9. :lovin:
JESUS CHRIST why would someone do such a thing?! Those Dreamcasts never did anything wrong.
In hindsight, getting rid of those dc’s probably was a really, really bad idea.
At NECX someone asked if they could hook up a ps3 MVC2 for casuals and the looks, the LOOKS that guy got omg.
Then perhaps its a safe bet to say that MvC2 isnt coming back this year?
Cvs2!!!
MvC2 PS3 version will be a game judging by what has been said in this thread.
“DC is dead” means that if MvC2 is back it’s not on the DC. And last year the EVO website had “MvC2 format: TBA” listed for a long time before DC was chosen (only because the PS3 port wasn’t out yet). What games had more hype than anticipated? SC4 and MvC2?
The only questions are if the game, MvC2, will be played on LCD/CRT, 4:3 or with borders, and with what graphic filter (if it’s on an LCD that is). And even those answers seem obvious.
MvC2 PS3 EVO2010!
king of fighters is what they need.
I’d love to see Melty in some form. SC4 is also cool. Impressive turnout for that game, reps from France, Japan, Russia etc like IdleMind mentioned earlier.
MBAA needs to be the first Melty game that makes it to the US in some form. If AH could do it, why not this game?
SSF4
ST or HDR
T6
MVC2 or TVC
BB2
CVS2 (I mean if fucking SCIV was in it this year) >.>
please get rid of Brawl this year, thanks.
I doubt BlazBlue CS wouldn’t make an appearance at Evo. It’s a great game.
Brawl wasn’t really part of the offcial Evo lineup this past year…it was run by All is Brawl.
After hearing all the MBAA hype during NECX I wouldn’t mind seeing this at evo to see what happens.
