Evo 2010 Game Announced Live on SRK Podcast @ 7PM PST!

ya i basically agree with you, but capcom seems way more committed to pushing tvc than i thought they would be. sponsor politics + smash kids might pick it up…

also i mentioned sc4 because there’s like nothing else out on next-gen consoles, and i’m pretty sure PS2 and DC are dead to evo.

wiz said they aren’t removing any slots, but there are only like 3-4 legit good options for them this year. hence why we keep bringing up all this random shit

I think you meant to say:

  1. Jacke Chan - Fists of Fire
  2. Jacke Chan - Fists of Fire
  3. Jacke Chan - Fists of Fire
  4. Jacke Chan - Fists of Fire
  5. Jacke Chan - Fists of Fire
  6. Jacke Chan - Fists of Fire

In all seriousness, I think the following games would have the best showing and are probably a given.

SFIV (or SSFIV if it’s out by then)
T6
HDR
Marvel?

  • MvC2 is an iffy for me. I guess the game is still popular and can still be hype, but it’s still the same old hat every year.

  • 3S is done. Someone explain to me why anyone wants to see this game anymore. Having 2v2 teams this year was a refreshing change, but the game is still rather dry in the US. Still tired of seeing Chun/Yun/Ken in finals winning it.

  • GG. Still a great game, but the community is pretty quiet now. Even though I think it’s better than any game Evo could have on the roster, the game has run its course. Here’s hoping for a new GG game to be out and ready for Evo in 2011!

  • SC4. No. Nothing else needs to be said.

  • TvC. No one played this game before, so why would the US version be any different? I don’t see a reason to put this into Evo at all.

  • CvS2 is a great game, probably the best of the old Capcom games (MvC2, 3S, and CvS2), but the game is still dead. NCR was the first time I’ve even heard of CvS2 as a main event at a major since Evo 2k8.

  • BB… oh BB. The community is still there, and I think it’d draw a strong crowd at Evo, but ONLY if it was the newest version of the game. The community is sick of Calamity Trigger (the old version) due to the top three characters pretty much dominating the game (hey sounds like some old Capcom game…), and they are all pretty excited about having a new version to play (Continuum Shift) because it address some balance issues. While the game is still evolving now, it’s already much better than CT. Evo should want this game in its roster for 2010, but the problem right now is if the the console release of BBCS would be out in time. If BBCS’s console release is out three months before Evo, I’d say it’d be a good choice. Unfortunately we’re running into the same dilemmas as GG, so we’ll have to wait and see for this one.

Not sure if I missed games.

The crowd is still there, the players are still strong even if they don’t practice, I think this will be a given unless they never patch it and the scene protests.

You know I’m with you here, but being stuck on PS2 really is the last nail in the coffin. If it had gotten the Marvel treatment, I think there would be more of a fight to keep it in one more year.

If I’m on Evo staff, this looks better to me than GG or 3s. It still has a high-level core scene (spread across multiple continents, granted, but almost all of them repped at this year’s Evo), it would likely have a better final 8 than those games or BBCT, and it would allow Evo to run all their games on one console. The overall turnout would be guaranteed to suck, though, and TvC would look pretty tempting.

Like I said, Smash kids. The Japanese release actually drew some of them in, and importers are at least as much of a minority there as they are here. Throw in the rebalancing, Dead Rising etc. tie-ins, and I could see Evo gambling on this for its “upside”. Capcom sponsorship doesn’t hurt its chances, either.

Heh, glad to see a Dustloop guy who “gets” CvS2, though in Norcal I don’t know how you wouldn’t eventually. But yeah, it’s in the same state as SC4 except it’s also stuck on old consoles.

I don’t see any way that BB doesn’t get into Evo, as even CT still does well enough at majors. And, as we just discussed, all the other reasonable options are even worse. This is where moving away from older consoles sucks for us as players, but what can ya do…

Actress Again may legitimately be the fighting game of the year, but PS2 + import-only = lol. It looks like it’s going to have a big crowd for NEC, though, and the Evo side tourney will probably be more interesting than half the main games. =P

1.Street Fighter 4
2.Tekken 6
3.HDR
4.Marvel Vs Capcom 2
5.Blaz Blu
6.TvC: UAS

im calling this as the lineup

aksys needs to speed up the port of continuum shift though…this way we dont end up in the gg scenario josh is referring to

and mbaa will have the best quality side tourney

I just hope to see SSF4, Tekken 6, HDR, MVC2, TvC, and if they come out with the port in time BBCS.

Jackie Chan in Fists of Fire is the only answer.

But in all seriousness, for the 10th anniversary of EVO I’d love to see something really OG like Hyper Fighting tossed into the mix. Now if only there was a decent port of it that could be used…

Yes. I love this idea, only problem is what OP said before. SSF4 might have a crazy amount of people and might have to bump down games, meaning Evo will be mainly SSF4. I’d love to see this idea come in though.

I second this.

-EX

I wonder if both sf4 and ssf4 would be in the lineup.

wow what a 09er post… both games…

To get TvC to play on an American Wii you had to pull some crazy shenanigans. That made it take a big hit.

Fuckin’ region protection.

I really don’t see why you wouldn’t keep BlazBleu for another year at least. Arcsys seems pretty fucking intent on making this game work out. Might as well keep the scene alive and see of BBCS makes the grade before just throwing the whole thing out the window.

I’m pretty sure that as soon as BBCS comes out on consoles in America, then this whole scenario will be smoothed out and the scene will have some kind of stability. I mean, really, a game like BB can’t be dead out of the water before the 1st update is even released.

Unless you know of the wicked arts.

I know of the novice level of wicked arts and have been playing ever since.

nah, took ten minutes, unless your a complete retard. doesnt matter anyways. the u.s version is coming out, so any arguments of tvc brokenness or having to hack your wii are just not relevant anymore.

I really hope tvc makes a jump into Evo 10, but a SSFIV team tourney would also be dope.

From what I understand the only reason TVC wasn’t at Evo this year was because it wasn’t widely available. So I’m sure that’s likely to show up. As for SSFIV, unless it fails completely, I’m more than certain that it’ll be there in 2010. As for the other four slots:

BB
MVC2
T6
HDR

I’d also predict that we’ll see another 3S exhibition.

I hope it’s back at the rio in Vegas again

We’ll know in 4 hours and 20 minutes.

Yeah, even though it is far from the strip, the free shuttle kind of takes care of that.

Rio’s rooms were nice, food was excellent.

Pay to use slow internet.
