Evo 2010 Game Announced Live on SRK Podcast @ 7PM PST!

lol what the random no HDR? game had the 2nd most entrants at evo last year. Take out 3 or 5 with HDR and thats a pretty good guess I’d say.

  1. Jackie Chan - Fists of Fire

These two posts are really what it is about!!! Someone +rep these two.

Knowing the games early is the best way to go, but to know how many people are going to show up for those tourney/overall interest would be easier if they held regionals. Games like TvC: Uas and BB that the scene is not all of to sure if they are going to be around for EVO could have Regional tourneys and if they can get to like 55-65 entrants at ALL Regionals then add them to the list of games. If not, try to setup a side tourney at EVO Vegas for those that won the qualifiers.

On the other hand, games like HDR or 3s or CvS2 that some are thinking are dying out can also be assessed by entrants at Regionals.

Having Regionals also could help to see where the “spectators scene” still has interest. Like I know I hate BB, so when they put BB on live stream I will go do something else. This will happen with a lot of people for many different games but the games that keep the viewers on there are sure fire yah know? CvS2 is one of those games that is still hype as hell when the matches are at a higher level and faster pasted, Norcal Regionals showed that.

Shoultza, your posts have been pure win as of late, (and you seem to be posting in all the threads I am) Are you on some of that Fyiah Man? I know I am, and when smart minds think a like it is most likely because they are altering their minds in the same way!!

AGREED!!! Will fix. I really have no interest in HDR but had I known it was the second most popular game at EVO it would be on my list. Thank you for the info sir.

1.Sf4/SSf4
2.MvC 2
3.Teken 6
4.SC4
5. Hd Remix
6. TvC: UAS

I agree with this list.
And as I’ve said before, but it is worth saying again as I feel it’s not one of the “guaranteed” EVO games… SC4 finals were great - please keep this game for next year at least.

I don’t see why only more recent games or various SFII editions are being mentioned. The Evo crew could easily ninja in something like A2.

I think the games that have the best chances are

(S)SF4
HDR
BB
T6BR

ssf4
tekken 6
tvc
hdr
sc4
cvs2 (cvs2 was fucking hype at norcal regionals. at least give us an exhibition!)

im still all for double exhibition nights if time allows. an old school, and obscure fighter exhibition, like hyper fighting, hnk, a2, ds. then another night of ssf4, cvs2, tvc, and tekken exhibitions. i know the evo staff is thinking of what they can do this year. its complex. there is a lot of old shit people still love, and new shit people are going to love. its hard to fit that in 3 days, and not keep people up until 4am.

but again, if we got early announcements, even if evo started 1 day early to just give the best evo ever, and fit in all kinds of beast shit, i still think people would do it. as long as they know beforehand, they can plan out. plus, it would even give time for more after evo fun with clubs and shit. i cant speak for anyone else since i didnt enter anything in evo2k9 except tvc, but i know exhibitions were until the early early, and now we have even more games. we might need to add a day, or slim it down.

but best said. do regionals, and have the best of the best duke it out sat and sun for certain games. mvc2, we just need the best of the best. scrubs wont make it, and neither will randoms. tvc, i actually like this in the line up out of respect for even doing a u.s release. hdr, we just need the best of the best. excuse the randomness, im buzzin.

To be honest there are some games like CvS2, 3S, ST, TvC, and even Blazblue, that I don’t think would generate enough competitors to warrant them being featured games. But why not have EVO regional competitions again or simply organize side tournaments and then hold the top 4 for those games on the big screen and feature them?

Yes it was the last year for 3S last year, and ST and CvS2 are not popular enough to have them be featured…but why not let them have at least the grand finals be featured even if they are side tournaments? Would anyone object if time was allotted for finals for older games like CvS2 or 3S or whatever to be on the big screen?

I think Blazblue died fast and hard, when is the last time anybody was hyped about that game at all?

BBCS does seem to have addressed some issues the game had, and it is a faster game over all. But that being said it seems no on on the west coast cares about it but its still pretty popular in the Atlantic south, and Midwest.

west coast has a ton of BB stuff, and I know washington is going to start getting CS stuff in the n ext couple weeks.

  • Karnov’s Revenge
  • Fight Fever
  • Double Dragon
  • Power Instinct
  • Primal Rage
  • Killer Instinct 2
  • Mortal Kombat II

Best Evo Ever.

What , no Real Bout 1? For Shame, For Shame…

The only locks in my eyes are

SF4
Tekken 6
Marvel
and HDR

BB is pretty likely, as they don’t want to go from 6 to 4, and people do still play that, at least around here.

I don’t think the last game will be a PS2 game , as Evo could save effort by having it be a one console event (PS3)

BB is in such a weird position right now. It gets enough players at majors to warrant including, but almost nobody is really serious about it anymore.

And now a lot of the main scenes for it (NY, CA, TX) have moved on to the update, which won’t be out on console in time for Evo. This all kinda reminds me of the year Evo should have had #reload but kept XX, except it’ll probably turn out even worse.

If they do in fact include BB, it’s going to reach DOA levels of anti-hype and have the sloppiest top 8 you’ll ever see…but what could they replace it with? SC4 is basically CvS2 status now - a small core of players who remain high-level, but not much else.

How does one judge popularity of a game? The only real way I could see is if Arksys would tell us how many people play BB online, and that would never happen. I see a couple of people playing Blazblue at my arcade every week when it didn’t catch on fire a couple of months ago, is that good enough proof to say “it’s not dead”?

I don’t think tournament turnout is wholly accurate either, because the ratio of people who play and people who go to tournaments (especially out-of-state, and barring SF4, the new fighting game crack) is probably massively in favor of people who just play without “competing”.

As far as tourney number goes, 3s was a sleeper game for a long time. But around 2003 it picked up like a rocket. Some things need time.

If it’s a good tournament you want you’ll keep it as is, if you want money to determine the quality of this tournament then there’ll be sf4, tekken, and hd. Any other additions would just fall short of expectations.

Further Speculation is noobish. Also, why the fuck do you guys keep mentioning tvc and sc4? NO ONE WORTH WATCHING/LEARNING FROM PLAYS THOSE SHIT GAMES. mashmashmashmashmashmashmashmashmashmashmashmashmashmashmashmashmashmash.

bring cvs2 back

kill 3s even more
