yeah basically missing person’s list but i still think they might do ssf4 teams for 6th spot…
I suppose… between gg 3s and tvc i guess its better to shit on all communities than Save 1 and shit on 2 lol
in defense of tvc, this really is the new era of evo, and as such, i think tvc Should be welcomed in that regard. with the release of uas, i think this community will grow…despite its “wii-sized” handicap
fuck TvC…its on the fucking wii.
they should do SFEX3 for the 6th game
but who knows. Evo tries to pick the games that the players are currently playing, but the players try to play the games that evo picks lol. Hence the problem with this thread.
You want a game at evo start running tournaments and hope that others across the USA start doing the same and then maybe evo will adopt it.
evo and dana white will sign multi million dollar deal to do ufc fighting game tournament, and rampage and chuck liddel will show up to sign autographs. lols
this literally has a better chance of happening than gg 3s sc4 or tvc
BB has been dying at my tournaments, too. I’m hoping to bring Guilty back instead. I’d rather watch that any day.
I personally don’t feel 3rd Strike should be phased out, but that’s because I’m a fanboy. I could see why people are tired of it, but it always holds a big place in my heart. But again, that’s just us diehards not wanting to see our game die.
I think the format was good this year as far as 6 games goes. Soulcalibur did have a big number, but I don’t think it can do it again in 2010. I was going to have it at ECT this year, but 4 people signed up. I don’t know the community too well, so maybe it was bad marketing on my part. It just seems to me that it’s hit or miss with them. Replace SC4 with Tekken 6. No TvC, that game was hype for 2 weeks and then died.
i think SSF4 potentially takes SF4’s spot, depending on the release date, the adjustment curve from SF4, and probably a few other factors that I can’t think of right now. Either way, some version of SF4 gets in, that’s pretty obvious.
I would like to see TVC as the 6th game, but it depends on the reception. We’ll see in January if tournament entrant numbers pick up.
for me
ssf4. obviously this game is gonna be beyond huge, and the game just has hype clutch moments. its of course a must see.
special event ssf4 5v5 like 2009. because why not
tekken 6. self explanatory.
sthdr. why not.
marvel. its marvel. cmon son.
tvc on at least the big screen for finals. its a vs game so matches will be quick. it deserves support. capcom in my opinion went out of its way to revise this game, and release it in america and japan. plus they gave us new beast ass characters, and an overall better game. the whole people dont own wii’s, fuck this game, is stupid. i literally purchased a fucking xbox 360 just to play sf4, and for tekkens eventual release. so bo fucking hu if you cant go over to a friends house to play for gatherings, or just not spend money on bullshit every 2 weeks, save up, and catch a used wii on the low. stick argument has already been cleared up, and no offense, showed a massive amount of ignorance. tvc is a good game, its fun as shit, and the new installment is gonna be good. it would almost be rude in my eyes for evo to say fuck tvc, after capcom revised that just for us basically.
guilty gear is cool, but i think that should take a byoc side tournament back burner for 2k10, and at the very least just have the finals on the big screen if they can.
bblue. no comment. personally, i have no interest in whatever the fuck that is whatsoever.
i like a female only ssf4 tourney. i just think that would be very interesting, and a perfect way to get the ladies in, and bring in more. sometimes you gotta go out of your way a little to add to the community, and i think that would be cool shit.
really, i like a throwback exhibition set of matches over ssf4 teams. maybe some alpha, xvsf, mvc1, kof, ect… i hope things dont get to the point where its not about the games anymore. in the sense that, some things arent gonna get a slot because there is a lack of interest, and time is tight running evo, but i would like to see exhibition matches of top players playing games with a smaller community. like a darkstalker exhibition match, alpha, whatever. just a little something to let us know you still see us out there doing our thing. wouldnt mind like an import only joint like hokuto no ken on the big screen. how much of an awesome mind fuck would that be for the ignorant masses who just started playing fg’s this year.
third strike. in my opinion, third strike is a pretty hype game at high level play, and i cant say i saw as much high level play as i wanted at this years evo. i know a lot of players dropped it over sf4, but i dont think its the game as much as the players were off this year, not all, but i saw mad rust, and it wasnt exactly exciting. i love watching high level 3s. so i say, if it gets no main tourney, fine. i would go a better route, and just have 3s exhibition matches of some of the best players. maybe take 5 of the faces of 3s right now vs top 5 in a side tourney, and obviously exclude the chosen 5 from that tourney, and just have a grudge match for the exhibition. the 5 faces of 3s vs top 5 in the tourney, who might not be names known immediately to a lot of players, especially the new.
Clayfighter at Evo 2010 needs to happen.
BYOC is first come first serve… I just happen to get up early and claim the tvs first…So you wanna change that? Get your ass up early like me…also I DO work with people that wanna play other stuff…ask fugee, Moroha and the others…
So cut the crap please. Ignorance is bliss…
somebody rep this man!
I’ll rep him lol.
He’s right, though. Some people just like to make up excuses for not picking up this game. And it’s already clear that Capcom has gone out of their by first seeing how popular the game is with the US audience, gone through the trouble to get 96% of the original playable cast and compensate with characters the U.S. audience can associate with, AND is making re-balances to make the game more appealing the newcomers and veterans alike.
lol SJC can you see the future? it’s like you knew we were going to cancel BB at Castle Fight Night before the tournament even started!
Still, good riddance, I say. Unless BB2 end up being awesome, I’d rather go back to running Guilty Gear as well.
In the ideal world, ST would come back and replace HDR. Please.
Other than that, I can’t say I care
Forgive my ignorance, but what are the issues with MvC on 360/PS3?
And definitely don’t drop 3S…
Assuming 6 games- these are the definites in my eyes
BB: Continum Shift if out, GGAC or BB once more if it isn’t.
HDR
SSFIV
Tekken 6
Marvel
This leaves 1 open slot:
I think if BB: CS isn’t out, 3S should get the spot, or maybe Melty or one of the ultimate matches.
One idea if you want to help the scene out and throw a game in there out of nowhere: Put Vampire Hunter or Savior into the mix if possible. (I think Hunter’s the better game, but most like Savior) Ono wants to do a Darkstalkers game- so why not have a retro tourney to enhance hype for it? Given that there’s at least some legitimate rumor about a next-gen DS being announced in a few months- this might be a good idea if this is announced. Even if it would be free money for Daigo.
I think it BB:CS is out, go with SC4 to keep it a one console tourney.
Your other option would be KOF12, and SC4> KOF12.
The more tourneys I go to the more convinced I am that BB will be in Evo, even though CS won’t be out in time.
It doesn’t get the best turnout for locals or much hype at all, which is why I thought it was dying, but apparently it’s fine for majors. I think it got 85-90 people at SB4…
And again, I’m pretty sure that PS2 and DC will be out of the question from here on out. Don’t count on a 3s or GG revival, guys. =/
arstal: I basically see this the same way you do, though I now think TvC is the favorite for the last spot. They may still have all those Wiis from the year they ran Brawl, so money wouldn’t be an issue, and obviously Capcom is much more involved with Evo than any of the other developers. They just seem hell-bent on pushing this game (see demo at Season’s Beatings), and this would fit right in with that.
And again, I wouldn’t completely rule out SSF4 teams. I keep thinking back to the way the World Series of Poker switched out a lot of its stud/Omaha/draw poker tournaments for more hold’em, since hold’em is the big TV game…the parallels with SSF4 vs. other fighting games should be obvious. Hell, the last Battlefield Arcadia stream lost 1/3 of its viewers once it went from SF4 to Tekken 6!
SF2HF should be added to get tomo and jeff out of retirement
