See that’s a much better answer, and I totally understand what you are saying.
Honestly I would also prefer a multi-platform release to get the best and largest amount of players. But I still have confidence with the large amount of Wii owners, or the Wii/PS3 or Wii/360 owners out there, like myself. I think that the base has a chance because the control scheme works with such a big variety of controllers that it doesn’t require much investment.
I think the chances of this game becoming popular are dependent on how many people purchase it and how many tournaments host it after its release, which I think is entirely up in the air. So to say negative things beforehand I think is premature and destabilizing. Just badmouthing because you can is bad.
What you quoted is pretty much what Chibi has been saying the entire time but since it was mixed with sarcasm and insults you didn’t read it as such.
Good job.
I played the game extensively for about half a year and I loved it. I contributed to several threads on SRK (including my own Saki thread) but I can tell you I don’t love the game enough to go for a tournament for it.
Does that make me not a fan of the game? No. I just know the scene isn’t strong enough and it won’t grow that much even with the port for me to dust off my tvc skills and learn some new ones.
“a release here in the states won’t do shit. Game’s not going to anywhere, and you’re being delusional. it’ll be hype for three weeks and fade away like every other flavor of the month. just stating per usual what’s going to happen.”
I think you’re giving him a little too much credit. There’s nothing in that at all except pure negativity and excuses.
Yeah, like blueNINE said, BB is not as popular as Guilty Gear in our area but it still goes on. As a Blazblue player, I really hope that it doesn’t die out here. I really hope we can keep it for EVO (whether it be Calamity Trigger or Continuum Shift). Also, keep Guilty Gear.
I don’t want BB to go away… I’d be happy with it atleast being a side tournament. I hope to see SSF4, Tekken 6BR, SFHDRemix, Blazblue, Accent Core, MVC2 at the least as the main games.
Even though the thread is over, I just wanted to say… I think people are underestimating the power of netplay when it comes to TvC and what it could do for it’s scene. Yeah, online might not help you become the number one fighter, but it sure as hell helps building a playerbase.
Imo, it’s going to be a major difference from importing an obscure game with no online that no one else within miles owns and plays because it’s an import obscure game with no online. Under those circumstances, of course the playerbase was doomed.
And Wii online isn’t as bad as is rumored (rumors supported mostly by friend codes and Brawl). Didn’t people report Castlevania Judgment to have decent, maybe even really good, netplay? And Mario Kart Wii was pretty sweet if I recall correctly.
Even though I don’t own a Wii and will not myself be a part of TvC except for occasional play when visiting my brother, I would still love to watch it be played in Evo.
Next year’s evo will have street fighter the movie as its main event, then side tournament of killer instinct and karnov’s revenge, and a sponsored side tourney of pong.
/end sarcasm
In all seriousness, if evo can bring samurai showdown 2 into the scene would be awesome, that game is as classic as SF2 and probably with more style and presentation.
A2 was back in B3 through B4 at least. A3 was B4, B5 and Evo 2002. I don’t believe any alpha games have been in it since 2002 though. since it was essentially replaced by CvS2.
