It was a wise desicion to bring back one of the Old games in a Pool Vote, i would vote for CvsS2 or Alpha 2.
You guys fucked up on this dude. I understand the goal; the goal is to get girls and women involved in fighting games by showing them that girls can and do play too. But thatās not the message youāre sending.
The message youāre sending is, āHey retards, the fact that you donāt have a Y chromosome makes you so goddamn retarded that you need your own special olympics tournament for anyone to even see your retard faces on Evo weekend.ā Personally, Iāll have less respect for any woman who actually enters it, because sheās effectively saying āSure, Iām retarded, which is why I have to play with other retards just to be able to compete,ā or āYeah, Iāll call myself retarded if it means I can win some money.ā I can just picture the announcer for this competition. āDid you see her hit that combo while being a woman?? There are no differences between men and women for the purposes of video game competitions. Women can think just fine, their fine motor skills are just fine, their reactions are just fine. This isnāt basketball; in our games, women can dunk. Now itās rare that women want to and do get good at fighting games, but the problem is just an issue of lack of interest, not of lack of ability. And I donāt think parading them around in a freak show is gonna drum up any extra interest.
I donāt care about whether this takes a spot away from another game, really, although thatās cool that it doesnāt. My issue with this tournament is just that itās offensive. And also that Iām upset that I donāt get my own tournament for my own group of people who can actually compete just fine with everyone else but who are underrepresented at Evo. Iām sure I belong to a couple such groups. I mean, people who are female get that. Why donāt I?
you know, mvc2 has done more for the evo tournaments (and B series before that) than any other game has to date. itās truly one of the main reasons interest in fighting games in the US survived and the reason arcades survived. yes itās an old game and yes it didnāt exactly have the hugest turnout last year, but there are still hardcore players/fans that play it and enjoy playing and watching it more than any other game. out of respect alone, i think the game deserves at least one more year. give the game one more year. especially since the game was just rereleased and online no less. if the turnout is not so good, then i understand letting it go, but not the same year it comes out online. for a game that has done so much for the scene, and really, kept the scene along with the arcades alive when it looked like it was all gonna go away, it really deserves to be in the lineup. so i say again: give marvel one more year. vote marvel.

Marvelās also been a dead game for half of itās lifespan. Iām sure it would just be as effective as seeing āside eventsā from marvel than an actual tourney. There has been no one new making it to the top, all we want to see is Wong, Sanford and others beat the living crap out of each other. That can easily just be an exhibition, no reason to make it a tourney anymore (plus no DCs, and shitty nextgen port.)
My vote is on Melty Blood, if anything itās probably the biggest fighting game in the country outside of SSF4/T6, and pulls a number of players for majors (NEC had 60 for its singles tourney, people outside of EC even traveled to the event.)
Look at it this way, if we get 3s, it will be boring again. It hasnāt been hype since what, 2k5? CvS2 is dead, no one plays it, majors never get big enough to actually run the tourney most of the time. Smash is ungrateful and whiny, Iām sure people already know this, and KoF 12 sucks. The only game I could possibly think of is original ST, just because HDR sucks. Almost forgot about GG. No one plays it anymore and last year was unhype as shit.

If you want MvC2, vote for it. I imagine this is the MvC2 communityās chance to say that TvC is not a replacement (or is it? I mean, I dunnoā¦I donāt play either). 3S and CvS2 are kind of sharing the same boat. IV has stolen a bit of every gameās thunder, leaving these two sitting in that ānot enough roomā¦maybe not enough interestā limbo. 3S has been in this spot before and the community around that game made a push to get it put back into the line up (it wasnāt done via complaining on the forumsā¦hint to the hint).
Alpha 2 would be fun, but who the hell plays that anymore? I mean, I think even most of the OG GGPO beta testers moved on to other games (and thatās the most Alpha 2 comp Iāve seen since 1996).

Instead of a females tourney all the girls should be in one pool of the actual tourney, so it would be like they are having their own little event.
