Just chiming in agreeing with the sentiment that a female only tournament is sexist and demeaning. I get the idea, but this is simply not how you do it at all.

No marvel, no 3s, no cvs2. It’s end of an era for sure. I suddenly feel old.

The girl tournaments in socal have made a negligible difference in female tournament attendees, so I wouldn’t even say the argument of “getting girls into the scene” is very strong.

HDR brought nothing to the table other than lopsided balance and shitty changes. 2 changes (vega and ken) were called for, but nothing else was justified. The game looks ugly as fuck and it’s just boring to watch and play. Why is it that it’s only the new people playing HDR always like to call me out? Maybe you guys should get off xbox live and your online tourneys and play at real places.
p.s. only reason why I went to evo last year other to hang out with friends I haven’t seen in a long time was to play in the ill-fated canceled ST side tourney.
Also women ssf4 tourney is a joke, I’m sure I don’t have to say anything as previous posts in this thread already expressed my opinions.
I’m voting GG whenever the poll comes out. It may not win/deserve to win but it’s the game I love most. People DO still play it, we had a 30ish people even in chicago over new years weekend this year.

I’m telling you. Hold official side tournaments for 3S, ST, CvS2, MvC2, and even a wild card like HF. But don’t put the top 8 on the big screen, just put the top 4, or even just the grand finals. Or even run those games as single elimination (SBO format) to reduce the amount of time needed to run those tournaments. I’d rather see a few John Choi CvS2 matches and a few Sanford MvC2 matches or whatever get some big screen time than have something like an all female SSFIV sideshow.
Yeah maybe CvS2 or MvC2 can’t pull in SSFIV or T6BR numbers but give them at least one match on the big screen. Would it really hurt to have the grand finals from side tournaments be featured events alongside big draws like the SSFIV top 8 or whatnot? Just a thought.
Seriously what is the harm in allowing one or two CvS2 matches on the big screen?
Especially if they are as insane as the recent match of [media=youtube]s_eleFvonXM"[/media] from NorCal Regionals.

Melty Blood is a game that nobody wants to watch except for the people that obsess about it
HNK is clearly a superior choice because it is a game that everyone can appreciate
- it has anime
- it has combos
- it has big combos
- the characters face comes up when you do a super
- game is hype
- one of the chars is fat (therefore relate-able to by the fg community)
- mbaa has no fat chars only little girls and ghosts
- hnk has never been featured at EVO before so it probably should be

I’ll be honest, when we ran the all girls tournament at Arcade Infinity, we did it for kicks. And we all had a great time. We even brought some encouragement for some of the girls to enter more tournaments in the future. However, that was really a lot more casual. This is Evo where it’s all business. It’s what we are training for year in and year out to bring our A game. Every year, each and every tournament, side event, and exhibition that was done at evo always showcased the best of the best. And we enjoyed every moment of it. A girls only tournament on the biggest fighting game stage of all is a huge slap in the face to all the girls who have put in their time and work to get good at the game. The tournament scene has always been about giving everyone equal opportunity to scrape other players no matter what age, color, or race you are.
On an unrelated note, anyone in so cal or anywhere else want to do a 5v5 team tournament based on race? I actually pitched the idea a while back jokingly to some people, but realized it could make for some interesting teams here.
What about the transgendered community and the Femme Fatale tournament? Will mtf transgendered fighting game players be allowed to compete in the tournament? Does pre-op or post-op make a difference?

An All Girls Pool in the regular SSF4 tourny seems like it would solve everything.
