After the despicable behavior by the Soulcalibur IV community at EVO 2009, I am of the firm belief that no major tournament should ever host an event for that game again. I was disgusted at what I saw and what I heard, and I am not alone in that sentiment. I don’t care if it’s the best game of all time. The community is not something that EVO should want. The community is the worst fighting game community of all time.
What did the SC4 players do? I wasn’t at Evo and didn’t read any of the threads about the event after it happened so I’m in the dark.

I would say 3s but… I just think 3s should stay where it is. Its not dead but its not popular. I like it that way.

The Soulcalibur audience booed loud enough for me to have to plug my ears whenever a Hilde player showed up. The announcer got in on it too, going so far as to insult the players. When the Hilde player lost, everyone cheered, and the announcer said “now it’s time for real players to compete, no cheap scrubs here!” I wanted to bum rush the stage. I was furious.
dude the crowd reaction because of Hilde is the best thing to happen to Soul’s Evo chances in years.
Yeah guys, obviously the primary influence on EVO should be what happened at NEC and random Midwest tourneys.
Since Mashy Blood got more entrants than HD Remix and Blazblue at some Philly hotel, that obviously means that they’re both dead and EVO should run MB singles and teams in their place.

It was the other communities booing the Hilde player’s bullshit.
The SC4 community was already used to the character, and thus didn’t boo.
In actuality, the only thing the SC community did was cheer and chant player names.

how is the audience of a game’s finals at Evo considered the “Soul Calibur community”? they were mostly people that don’t even play the game.
Most of the people, like me, where cheering when a hilde lost cause we got sick of seeing that same ring out combo 304394 times.
I agree. I remember there was two serious hilde players in the top 8 for that I think? I mean sure it was the same ringout combo but yeah.
I do also know that the one dude that counterpicked as hilde got stuck in a walled level, that was pretty LoL.
I mean hell, I think SC4 had a lot of audience interaction whether it was the massive boos to hilde or the cheers for KDZ and taking out 3 hildes in a row

Yeah I think people were booing more so to get the game off the stage than anything else. :lol: I don’t know how many of who were out there at the time though. I was just playing SFIV casuals in the room all day and only came down for SFIV. I would have came down for 3rd Strike if I had any sort of feeling J.Wong’s team wasn’t going to take it. Though they were so I didn’t.

I’m really unhappy with the SCIV community after Evo2009, because there were about 12-16 players playing casuals in the back of the event hall on one of the HD monitors from the Tekken 6 setups during MvC2 and SFIV finals. That’s just straight up disrespect. Granted, with the turnout and multi-national draw that game has, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it back.
it personally comes down to it… numbers… i feel if games are doing well at majors then your getting shots to make evo roster. perfect example of this is marvel… which is relatively dead in localized tourneys… but does quite well in majors… and somehow when people thought it should throw in the towel… here comes Marvel again makin it. and dude don’t desrespect any major… SB4 was a big major. so was NEC… next is FR… then MWC… except for maybe like HD remix or classic… numbers are what’s gonna count… unless there is some personal dislike to any of the games formentioned ( kind of like your lame ass shooting down games that obvious are trying to get a shot at main slot)
maybe if KOF players and SNK fans would step up a rep they shit… like produce numbers… maybe someday… someday you can get a slot…:wgrin:
