I wouldn’t be so sure about that, I’m also ass at this game. Not newbie level or anything like that, but just your typical 2500-3000pp player who can hit most of their links, knows their characters mix ups, and uses plenty of gimmicks. But we always lack strong fundamentals and reactions. Not that this is everybody who has around this many points, but I think that’s most of us and I’m no different then them.
As for low forward, fireball, FADC. I guess their is no trick to it. Either you can do it or you can’t. Man I wish they made LK axe kick safer which I pushed so hard for last year. Hit confirming from that is so much easier. I’m actually getting kind of decent at hitting that 1f link into cl. MP after FADC. Just not too reliable to fish for that confirm since it’s -7 and will probably stay that way in USF4. Oh well, not going to quit this game or this character anytime soon so I gotta keep grinding until I reliably react to low forward > fireball.
Soo I have recently been trying to get into SSF4 due to the fact that ultra is coming out soon and my main is E.Ryu but for the past 2 months i have been playing i seriously feel like as if though im below the average player in that game.Like in ranked matches i lose to people with like 300-900 pp or less and they do some pretty dumb things. I guess my question is what frame traps should i go for,how to land his 1frame link off axe kick more consistently, and what to general aim for.
Say you get a cross up or a counter-hit with a lp/lk and your opponent is crouching, what is e. ryu’s best damage option? Since tatsu goes over and hadoken ender is shit I’m not sure what I should do.
You gotta learn to plink pretty much, or be NYChrisG.
Try usf4 at a locktest, just to say that only Elena and Poison can be tatsu swept. Even worse, Decapre cant be Mk axe kick, c.mp xx lk tatsu, like Rufus and Blanka
You were about to tell us that the Sako combo works against her, you just forgot to, right?
Or maybe not, but that won’t affect me personally. I always go for cr. LP after MK axe kick anyways. Still it kind of sucks to lose that bit of damage and stun for those who are comfortable going for it. Did you test his corner fake cross ups? Just wondering if they still work.
dude i know im sure you can do it if you spend 30 minutes a dat with it on random block doing cr mk xx hado, cl hp xx hado you could do it. try that for 1 week. 30 minutes practicing it and tell me you cant. lol im so much worse at this game than you and i think it is possible to learn to do mid game. i can do it in training mode but mid game is a bitch but i will get it and you and @rice_Eatar better get it as well.
lets all step out shit up. I look up to you guys dont make me lose my faith senpaii!!! lol
I’m probably not the on that can explain it the best but I’ll try. It’s because the cr. LP is hitting meaty. It’s just one of those weird hitbox/hurtbox things where somehow Evil Ryu’s cr. LP is hitting Rufu’s hurtbox meaty and because of that you have more frame advantage because you’re recovering earlier while Rufus is stuck in the same hit stun as if you hit him normally. In this case it’s 1 extra frame which gives you the ability to link into cr. HP(and sweep in USF4). He has some other combos in which something similar happens and he gets 2 extra frames to link his 7f normals.
None of those questions address you losing to unskilled players. I would guess you’re losing to those players because you’re trying to play them the same way you play good ones. You can’t. They might not be dumb people, but they’re dumb players. They’ll do the same things over and over, whether it works or not. You need to just let them do their thing and punish them for it.
Thanks defenitly will try to remember that Also in Ultra Evil Ryu gets a sweep after tatsu on Oni idk if this was possible in AE but im guessing its new since they took away 1 frame from his sweep
In AE and AE2012, you can sweep after tatsu, but only on the following characters:
Balrog
Cammy
Dhalsim
Rose
Dee Jay
However, now that the sweep is 1 frame faster, you can sweep more characters. This will provide Evil Ryu even better positioning compared to LP Shoryuken, but due to delayed wakeup, his mixups from sweep will not be guaranteed.
Hello all, before picking up Ultra the other day, my last SF4 was Super. Therefore, I just got 9 new characters, one of which is Evil Ryu! yay lol
Anyway, I know this is old news at this point, but I was wondering if someone might be able to briefly spell out (or point me twd somewhere where it’s already spelled out) which sort of niche Evil Ryu fills as opposed to Ryu and Akuma. Like, why should I be inclined to pick E. Ryu over the other 2 aside from visual bad assery(which he no doubt has)? But strategically?
I love me some Akuma, but E. Ryu seems fascinating. I can deal with giving up my air FBs, but am curious what sort of strategic or tactical advantages I’m getting in return. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to explain a lil. He certainly looks and moves pretty sweetly, but that alone probably isn’t worth dropping Akuma for. hehe
Think of ER as the extreme version of Ryu. More or less the same game plan but bigger risk reward.
Meaning that most of his tool are a little more riskier/ harder to use (i.e, slower sweep and cr.mk) but more rewarding (better oki, much stronger converts out of poking with cr.mk)
I’ve got a question for E.Ryu mains.
I’ve seen Sako do combo starter, Forward Axe Kick, cr.Short, s.Jab, cr.RH and in other scenarios he did s.Jab, cr.Forward xx Hadouken. How is this possible when s.Jab is +5 on hit while c.RH is 7f (6 in Ultra) and c.Forward is 7f? Is it character specific?
Funny that you asked because this has been mentioned a couple of post earlier :).
Yes, it is char specific.
You can swap the sweep for the cr.mk for different enders. This combo just works there is no explanation that justifies it. Its the same with the Rufus combo. If you look at the framedata it shouldn’t be possible, but in reality it does
Ah, I was hoping someone would know why the combo works despite the frame data not matching up. Okay, thanks for the list of characters that this works on.
Also, someone previously posted saying Tatsu, cr.RH only worked on the following characters in v2012:
Balrog
Cammy
Dhalsim
Rose
Dee Jay
Since the sweep is 1f faster now does it work on more characters and if so who? I don’t own Ultra myself otherwise I would just test it.
