E.Ryus Cr.Mk Kara throw has more range than his St.HP Kara Throw.
& Cr.Mk Kara isn’t hard to do. Before go in to neutral Do your inputs exactly when you let go of Down So basically at the same time you let go of down.
@Links Yeah, I meant far HP
@laxlight Actually I have seen that, just completely forgot about it. Man if we could flick out that kara throw on the fly as easily as Vega and Ken players, Evil Ryu’s frame trap game would be so much scarier. Too bad it’s so difficult for most of us. I’d love to see PR Rog start using it if he has the execution to throw it out on the fly.
@Sonnelion I’ve spent so much time thinking of any method I could so that I could actually use this in real matches. It’s just beyond me, good luck to any of you guys though if you want to try to add it to your game.
It’s a great kara throw, but I’ve found I can only do it if I practice it all the time and I don’t really practice much anymore. Just like five minutes before I play online or when I’m playing offline and no one is sitting down to play. I used the same method as Sonneillon. Let go of the stick at the same time as you press the buttons. The worst thing is how bad it can hurt if you mess up, and it’s only a throw. Risk/reward for it sucks.
I like to do the c.mk kara throw after a blocked hk axe kick, it gives you enough time to do it properly, you are in the perfect frame advantage to kara throw (ie +1) and you can mix it up with normals.
Imagine if it was easier to do, Evil Ryu’s frame trap game would be so much scarier. For example you could go for jab jab(all blocked) kara throw or jab jab counter hit far MP, MK axe kick , HP SRK for 308 damage. That’s a frame trap I go for anyways, but it would probably work more if I could threaten people with the low forward kara throw.
dang its too difficult, i go no idea how sako and kindevu do it effortlessly.
I never saw Sako doing the c.mk kara throw.
Hi everyone,
Recently I restarted practising the sweep combo on Adon, Ibuki and Gen (MKAxeKick, cr.lk, st.lp, sweep/mkxxetc).
I can do them consistently on Ibuki and Gen but on Adon I don’t seem to get the correct timing. Can someone give me a tip for the correct timing?
@Donfloris
For adon its 2 St.LP’s then sweep. Or Cr.Lp > St.Lp > Sweep.
Thanks man, gonna try it out right now!
what are all the mk axe kick combos to sweep? thats one of the ones im missing in my char specific combo list for the guide
@mapleleafs791
Adon, Chun Li, C.Viper, E.Honda, Dudley, Gen, Guy, Ibuki, Makoto, T.Hawk, Zangief, Vega, Yang, Yun.
Also cammy but you do a Cr.Mp > Cr.Lk > St.Lp > Sweep.
Hey fellow Evil Ryus
I’m fairly new to Evil Ryu and started playing him when Sako bodied Xian.
I’m an Ibuki main and it excited me to see my favorite player dominate with Evil Ryu as well.
My question to all of you is:
Why is Evil Ryu getting SOOOO much attention in Ultra exactly? What exactly about him now makes him so good?
I feel like his damage is really strong offensively and his fireball game is very strong but his footsies are generally pretty weak. Why is he getting this attention? I feel like i lose nearly EVERY footsie battle w him. If i space cr mk-fireball/whatever perfectly I am NEVER close enough to do ST HP-MK axe loops.
If i get CLOSER to land that cr mk to lk axe/fireball I LOSE in footsies pretty badly.
I’m just confused w how to play him sometimes. I know some mixups and tricks with him once i get in like cross up tatsu, lk tatsu corner resets, sweep specific after lk tatsu, etc but i feel his mid range game is ass.
i think the attention will die down but he has massive footsie damage (attractive for high level player) and a dive kick in addition to ryus fireball while only being at 950 hp.
I dont think the there will be a casual train but well see how many high level players hold out with him and stick with him.
I can see rog as he already dominates the states skill wise so he can pick whoever he wants and he will body everyone per tourney in NA.
Daigo because diago
Sak becuase sako’s e ryu
Wao im curious
Gamerbe im curious
PR Rog im expecing him to dominate like before once he gets better with e ryu in american tourneys. hes sucking now but he will dominate NA.
Unfortunatley player skill only seems to depend on NA tourneys buy I don’t see pr|rog’s e ryu being super top tier overall around the world.
#sorrytopeoplethatobsessabouttourneyresults.
#drunkopinions…
E.Ryu footsies are gdlk, and more rewarding compared to Ryu.
Way better than Ibuki, no question about it.
I guess you need to learn to play the midrange game
Him getting attention is pretty simple to be honest. He’s a mid tier character right now in AE 2012 who got nothing but buffs while many characters considered better than him got nerfs or are no better than they are right now. So he’s considered top tier by many. The other reason is that several really high profile players are picking him up. When guys like PR Rog and Daigo start playing him, it gets people talking and brings a lot more attention to the character. Now people who may not have cared much about him will start looking into the character and maybe they’ll like what they see and choose to pick him up as a side character or as their new main.
As for his footsies, I think it’s average although the sweep buff will help a little. But like Gefen has said, it’s very rewarding. If you’re getting beat a lot then you’ll have to adjust and take what you can get. You just can’t get in the face of characters like Ryu or Fei and throw out cr. MK at will, their faster mid range normals will eat you alive. He can still get in there and land that slower cr. MK like anybody else can do with their slower normals, you just have to pick and choose your spots wisely. And if you’re not in range to get that axe kick combo, just take what you can get. Evil Ryu is still good for 300+ without it.
Something I’ve admitted to not doing is cr. MK, fireball, FADC combos. But I’ve been grinding this the past 3 days trying to beat it in me so I can become a more complete Evil Ryu player. I was given some advice about it and it’s made things clearer for me. But I still have a lot of trouble with it. Technically it’s nearly the same as cr. MK > LK axe kick(which is 3f longer). Difference is that it’s so much easier with the LK axe kick because you can see and hear that 2nd hit before FADC compared to the fireball which you have to do after it’s released.
I’ve only tried it twice in a match and so far I’m 1 and 1. When it comes to the training room, I mess it up quite a bit. My fingers are way too twitchy and I end up hitting focus even though it doesn’t hit because I’m either trying to do it psychicly thinking it’s going to hit for sure or I do the dash cancel late and my follow up doesn’t hit. If you guys have any tips on practicing this or anything I should be looking for like some kind of visual or audio cue then I’d appreciate it.
I hope to try and build some confidence and start doing this in matches and have a high success rate. Right now I have to focus so hard to recognize those confirms and it really bugs me when I burn meter on block even if I’m only practicing in the training room.
Take your time, it isn’t as easy technique as Sako makes it look.
The best ER player struggle with this confirm
Its funny because i feel like iv had this trend.
Ramma. Much better cody players than me from the cody forum. I have much better execution but i get blown up despite hitting harder links
Rice_eater: that confirm isnt that hard for me but im sure you would rectum-reck me in both a mirror or a match vs another player. My neutral is quite lacking
Another point where execution != skill
I need to step my fundamentals up
