Evil Ryu General Discussion: Same Ryu, but now he's pissed!

Any of the people who have access to AE, when you have the time can you test if

  • cr. mk XX FB hits just outside Normal Ryu’s sweep range, outside Chun Li’s sweep range
  • EX Stomp hits just outside Ryu’s sweep range
  • at the correct fb range where you can antair a jump in after throwing a fb, if you were to throw a slow fb and they block it, can you follow up immediately with his fierce red fireball, such that if they try to jump it will hit them

From what I’ve seen, it doesn’t go into animation on AA hit. Maybe if you hit them low enough though.

medium DS to cr.mp link is quite easy, its just like Akuma’s far HK to cr.mp. So you can basically link with crouching lights or cr.mp

Really? Feels like a two-frame link to me, maybe even one.

To me it feels like that, maybe its the input timing, like how Akuma’s cr.mp to cr.mp link and Ryu’s cr.mp to cr.mp link has different frames but same timing.

I was hitting it most of the time, so I think it’s probably (at least) 2 frame. Feels similar to vega’s st. close fp to cr. mp imo.

akuma’s s.hk into c.mp IS a 2 frames link…and it’s REALLY easy if you plink it.

Everything that has been listed so far

cr. MK: 7 frames start up
cr. HK: 7 frames start up
all SRK’s: 3 frames start up
cr. LP: 3 frames start up
cr. MP: 4 frames start up
close st. MP: 3 frames start up
cr. LK 4 frames start up
hop kick: -2 on block

Are there any sources that can verify this? I really want to know the frame data on the axe kicks.

I don’t think we’ll get the goods for everything until the game comes out on console. But from player impressions, LK axe kick is unsafe, estimations I’ve heard are -4. But it’s starts up the fastest of the 3. MK and HK axe kick start up slower but are supposedly safe on block(-2 maybe). I have no idea about the EX version though.

The hop-kick? I believe the dev blog said that there was no comboability from it on hit. I might have read it wrong, though.

I saw a video where the E Ryu landed fmk on counterhit and was able to combo off of it, iirc he just did dp after the f mk.

On the page before Bloodcrave translated some notes from Arcadia and here is a interesting note

It does sound like they mean it combos. And they specifically mention cr. LP and st. MP, both start up in 3 frames. Maybe hop kick is +3 on hit, so you can combo with any 3 frame attack, including DP. But then again, the info from Arcadia isn’t really straight forward and Evil Ryu footage is slow to come. So we may not be able to figure this stuff out until AE hits console.

Good ish, Rice Eater. I couldn’t remember if it was comboable on hit or not… I may have been thinking of his frame disadvantage if it gets blocked.
