Everyone that posts in this thread is retarded

I’m not necessarily saying we should all attend vanilla SF2 tournaments, but I am saying that all versions of the game should receive some sort of moral support from the fan-base. It is already an old game as it is, any help possible is necessary. The fact that someone like CigarBob–who I heard is supposed to be a good ST player–is coming in this thread to bash HDR is just stupid. Certain people like ExposedD always ask me why I play SF4 regardless of the fact that I think its mediocre. And my answer is always the same: its Street Fighter!

Even abusive people can grind a fighting game.

A custom stick as a reward would be sick. Can you imagine that chaotic Grand Final?

Yea i know man sucks that people who talk all this shit online don’t use that energy to show up to tournament and try and make new friends instead of just flaming all day online i understand people have jobs, life, priorities so do I, I work, School, sports, and still am the main organizer for HD remix in our region where i travel 3+ hours to run these events…

I Will not let this game die, i have told the DGV brothers that i had big plans for HD this year and i will come through with my word this is just helping me out even more because now i can organize something where all you guys who just went to evo for hd dont have to waste your money anymore and just come to the event that hopefully i will run this year in SoCal!!

To Be Continued…

So does this make akuma ok to use again?

You nailed it.

Even though i stop playing HDR a long time ago sad to see it go but, just like i told sirlin at EVO if he had put more into the game like throw tech and, ex moves or something like it, as well as the most important thaing Damage reduse, it would of last another 15 years

I would love to see this in 2015.

Why didn’t sirlin take your advice?

You guys are amazing.

One word…

CAMMY

HAHAHAHAHA

;).

Joking aside, if you want this “side tourney” to have any effect at all, make sure you have a way for viewers not in vegas to view, i.e. stream it some how or some way, otherwise, you’re not really proving anything to anyone but people who are already supporting SF2.

I think everyone is giving the SF2 community too much credit for it not making EVO’s line-up.

EVO has been progressively moving toward establishing themselves as a gaming event for game companies and their latest releases. (which is fine if that’s your thing)

Look at the line-up:

Super Street Fighter IV (Apr 27, 2010 )
And that’s if it isn’t Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition (Dec 16, 2010 )

Tekken 6 (Oct 27, 2009)

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift (Jul 27, 2010)

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds (Feb 15, 2011)

Mortal Kombat (2011) (Apr 19, 2011)

All newer games. Two of these games aren’t even out yet. (HDR itself was a new game while it was in the EVO line-up)

EVO even devotes a chunk of floor space to game company demo stations for their new games but has 0 space for dedicated casual play.

On a side note, my tastes are for games that have had time to develop in terms of playerbase sophistication. I have little interest in X-Games. I prefer the Olympics.

I thought most the SSFIV games in last EVO were very good in terms of exhibition-level novelty but crap in terms of their touranment-level quality or longevity because the players just didn’t know the game version well enough.

I told you all HDR was dieing with tournament cancellation proof and now that it is officially dead in 2011 competitively based on so many tournaments cancelling the game the only option is ST.

Everyone migrate on over to the ST forum and work together on bringing SF2 back. The best player in the USA damdai I believe even said HDR was babyzone. You guys act all high and mighty saying HDR > SSF4 but since it is babyzone and I believe is verified by the best sf2 player in the USA then SSF4 > HDR.

Too bad ST is old and has outdated graphics.

You know what? ST won’t save SF2. SF2 as we know it is gone and I for one am glad.

I beat everyone there is to beat in SF2 that came across me. I demolished everyone and did I get credit? No, I got told Balrog was overpowered. No Balrog has a very weak wake up game and is very much balanced.

To all of you who posted about me in the bad games thread in the past for destroying you countless times where you thought that was your way of getting revenge on me which then made me hate the SF2 community so much, I just wanted to say I am glad to see your game gone from Evo. The OGs and good players I have no problems with but most of the rest of you guys ruined SF2 with constant bickering and arguing like I knew you would even after I left the site for a long time.

I am so happy to see SF2 over competitively in the US. All those times most of you talked trash about me, guess who has the last laugh? Me, your game is gone I destroyed people at their own game and you are left with HDR online where only babyzone is proven and tournaments are over.

Enjoy your side tournament in the hallway with 5 people bickering about game speeds.

Let’s not spread bad information.

Damdai is a very solid player.

Damdai is not the best player in the USA in either ST or HDR.

I’m a little surprised that HDR got the boot, but then again, not so surprised. SF2 has always been in the back burner as far as tournaments go after 1995. It never headlined any tournament after that (the Alphas, Marvel, CvS, Tekken, Soul Calibur, GGXX, SF3 all got more headway than SF2 did, in their primes). One thing SF2 had that the other games didn’t was longevity, and also being so fast to finish that there was room to add it in. As far as ST went, even the best players didn’t really play it as hard (at least in the 2000s) compared to the other games, until about a month away from B#/EVO (or even a week), and with HDR, you have players that don’t really play that version (moreso going from what they know in ST) being able to either place high or win the whole tournament.

There are too many games coming out, and while it can be questioned whether they will turn out any decent, it can’t be questioned (mostly for MvC3, not sure about MK9) that there will be a huge player base that will rival SSF4, and there obviously can’t be 6 games like there was last year. SF2 had a great time in the spotlight, and while I don’t think it is the end (wouldn’t be surprised if some form of it was there next year, honestly I would rather it be ST), it definitely signifies a changing of the guard.

For HDR, the health of that game is very low, and it doesn’t look like it will get any better (I know DGV is old school, but if 2 “new” EVO top placers can’t resurrect a game, I don’t think anything can), especially with the pitiful turnouts for the game. ST will definitely live on, except only in Japan and very small pockets everywhere else.

For me, personally, as long as its not World Warrior, New Challengers, or Rainbow Edition, I’ll play any iteration of SF2, but that simply isn’t enough, and I don’t think any amount of campaigning or trying to get people in the game, especially when it is nearly too far gone, will help any.

By the way, to the people hating on Lethargy, if I’m sure who I think he is, that’s Pete Talley, and he’s been around for a long time, and is definitely a top ST player.

this is probably why sf2 players weren’t invited to the party. it isn’t the bashing of one another so much since they could care less about who thinks what of ST or hdr. it’s that both sides of sf2 players just can’t stop taking digs at sf4. if sf2 was represented, how many of us could keep our mouths shut during ssf4 matches? i know i couldn’t. by excluding sf2 completely, they cut down the negativity towards their bnb by a significant amount.

You’re saying that people should play games that they don’t enjoy? Yeah ok

Now that HDR is dead it doesn’t matter anymore. ST or bust. It doesn’t matter if you don’t like it you have to play or else you hate SF2.

That should be the new motto of this forum, “ST or bust”. Don’t get me wrong I love SF2 but we all know HDR is babyzone and with it being gone from Evo now makes the game pretty much worthless. The only decent SF2 left is ST. Even though the graphics are outdated it is still worth playing unlike HDR.

ST or bust, anyone who disagrees does not support SF2.

Anybody that did not support HDR while it was at EVO did not support SF2.

See how easy that is ?

I suggest everyone take a hardline and divisive attitude.

No compromises. Purity tests all around!

That is the past think of the future. The future is ST and HDR is the past. Any disagreement about this proves they do not support SF2.

Looks like ST beat out and is outliving HDR after all.

Those that love ST wont stop playing it now just because evo dropped hdr LOL. ST has survived over a decade of no freaking advertisement other than this type of tournament and it still has thousands of people worldwide playing it at GGPO, arclive, kaillera, supercade etc.

It’s funny how people think a game dies just because it’s not popular at srk and their events anymore. There is a crapload of people out there that dont even visit srk, but they play at local tourneys and arcades or at one of the current online clients.

The www.fighter101.net website is a great example of how alive ST is, they get front page ST videos here and the response is always good. Same goes for the broadcasts at Dont Blow This on USTREAM: . that help keep the game very much alive.

Then you have the http://streetfighterdojo.com/ they never turned their back on ST and updated with a SF4 guide, but the main attraction to that site is still ST.

ST is like a drug, it’s never going to go away.
