Doomy, you joystick case is very nice indeed. Could you throw an approximate price you’d be selling it?
Also you mentionned on the first page you thought about colouring the sides flashy-orange, but maybe standard black would look even cooler 
When I get onto it I can order sample boxes of powder coating in the RAL range and have access to an entire fabrication factory in the evenings and weekends due to my girlfriend running it. Where I work is where I get acrylics and mdf CNC’d and I’m a metal fabricator hence the possibilities available 
Price isn’t something I can say just yet, I need to work out costs but I’m not here to take the piss. What is likely to be considered a good price for a custom coloured and full solution to peoples stick requirements? Answers on post card…

Well the people at QCFgaming have some nice wood cases starting at 25$. Unfortunately the shipping to europe doubles the price which doesn’t make the deal that appealling, so I guess anything in the range of 30-40? would make a sweet deal.
I’m running a custom stick tutorial on a French forum but canno’t link to any cheap case provider: we have some nice craftsmen here in Europe but that implies huge costs and we have no cheap alternative.
This is your main strenght, you can reduce manual work at its minimum: if you sell the case cheap enough you wouldn’t even have to mount the case, just manufacture the parts as a DYI case and let customers screw it together. Be the Ikea of joystick!
If you can sell it under 25? you’d probably sell double because overall it would cost less to make a custom stick than to buy a TE.
To be brutally honest I could not get them anywhere near that price. I’m not really into the idea of knocking out hundreds of these as a) I don’t have the time b) I’d like to provide custom cases with high quality, long lasting components. The stick in this thread takes 8+ hours to knock together, comes thermoformed, laminated and in future cases powder coated. Also acrylic, and artwork if needed. Mounting the stick requires a fabricated part, ie welded up. Then consumables etcetcetc.
While I totally dig your idea, I’m hoping to get some kind of enjoyment out of this, I have time to make a few, production type levels is something which could be done but it would certainly be outsourced elsewhere as the CNC here is used for actual jobs, not just homers lol. To be honest, anyone enterprising with a little outlay could quite easily do this and probably make a nice stack of cash but you can’t really rely on such a niche customer base on the kind of levels of production need to run a profit.
Or am I just being deluded? Lol.
Gintor - Cant get srk to play nicely with soapbox and I’m sure i got correct settings in the fields. Seems good apart from that, am I missing something?

Three things to take into account
1: Doomy is one man not a multi million pund empire with massive bulk purchassing power ( like ikea )
2: The materials alone ( Alimuminum/powder coating )would cost more than 25 Euros
3: look everywhere else on this forum and a good quality case ranges from $80 - $125. Even at $125 they are still not priced that high.
Doomy is making a fewpure custom ( none mass produced ) cases lets see how long they take him and how much the raw materials cost. He can then make a descision. Although he is a bloody nice bloke and not out to ripp us off lets not forget he works 14/16 hour days, so should not be expected to break even or run at a loss…

To be fair, a pure unpainted mdf case won’t cost that much at all to knock out. Tops, bottom and sides + CNC work for buttons is achievable but setup costs would be biggest hurdle. It’s as far away from custom as you can get really.
I would say charge GBP150 with stick+buttons included.
Me and a friend might offer a new wireless transmitter to a micro usb dongle for ps3/PC. 10-20 years on 2*AA battery, custom programmable (ledshow, turbo etc). No lag. Maybe a partnership is possible…

Any kind of pcb for the PS3/PC/360 to go in a custom stick for sale in the EU would be very interesting…As mentioned though the price would need to be competetive, after all there are things similar to what your offering already available. I know the battery life is better but people go for wireless for the ease, the fact that wireless is not leagle in tournements would also hinder the price.
I live in Norway. As of now we only have the wireless to PS3/PC, but we can make it more complex. However if there is a market for a low cost wireless board in Europe, we might just sell it as it is.

Hi, I’m just wondering about how that SE plexi is going?
Bone of contention at the moment, trust me you guys will be the first to know when I can go ahead with these, hopefully before even I know. Like superquick. Maybe a week off or so, gotta find the time, with the other plexi’s eating into that time + my work im getting increasingly frustrated because I know these will be popular.
