Eternal Fighter Zero

I pulled out the demo and played around for a bit. I might finally be able to get the game… god knows how much it’ll cost jeez, but yeah anyway, Ayu’s fhcf+attack is a great super that does like 1.5k by itself, and I found an easy way to link it which is stand b/b crap a b b c qcf+a d,d+ab f, hcf+a, which I’m happy but it’s kind of expensive. Is there a way to link two of those f,hcf+x in a combo(god that’d give me 4k! with ayu!!)?

The demo got me hooked, but it’s a far cry from the full version + BME (ie. 3.10)

Master Chibi:
Kaori is simple enough for me to play on keyboard =P

I seriously need a way to play this with stick or at least a good pad. I really want to learn Mai and Minagi but it’s not happening on keyboard. I’ve learned some setups from replays but I can’t reproduce 90% of them =(

I know it is. which is why I’m getting it dude.

Funny though a lot of doujin guys are so used to playing games on keyboard, that they actually do better with Keyboard. I’d prefer Keyboard over pad.

Man everyone plays as my characters. I gotta keep learning new jokers so we don’t end up with boring matchups.

PROTIP: a lot of times it is possible to do 421 motions as 621 motions. Examples are Shiori’s air ice spikes and chi Mai’s fireball command.

Well, I can manage pretty well using Minagi and Mai with the keyboard. I just found two ways to improve Mai’s second loop iteration in the corner:

(> means cancel; , means link; [] means loop)

Regular loop:
[close B > low j. C > air dash > j. A > j. C > land] > followup

Corner combo followup 1:
loop > close B > B > 6A > IAD > j. A > j. C > finisher

I saw this one before in TTT2 vids and other JReps, but was not able to do it before. Timing is TIGHT. The thing is that if the opponent is not high enough, your IAD A won’t hit after the 6A. Close B > B should juggle the opponent high enough so j. A > j. C hits barely before the opponent falls. However, I think this is worth it since you get like 500 more damage and a free chi Mai setup (see finishers).

Corner combo followup 2 (also works as a loop)
[close B > 6A > j. C (high) > air dash > j. A > j. C > land] > finisher

I found this one while playing messing around with the first followup. Timing is a little tight in the sense that that you should air dash in such a way that Mai is always in front of the opponent, never going below (else j. A whiffs). You can do this as a followup of the regular loop (for more damage). This loop makes more damage than the regular one if you have a regular IC, but less if you have RIC, since you cannot do two whole iterations of the loop, compared to the regular loop.

finisher 1: A > B > C > chi Mai setup (since the C plants the opponent)
finisher 2: air combo

I still haven’t checked if you can do followup 1 (as loop) > followup 2. Probably not since followup 1 needs more juggle time, and followup 2’s timing is very tight with the regular loop already.

Edit: just checked. You can do it. followup 1 > followup 2 > finisher does more damage than regular loop > regular loop > finisher. You can also do followup 2 > followup 2 > finisher for a flashier looking combo, but looks like it makes a little less damage. The difference between the combos is in the 200-ish range anyways.

IMO I don’t like Kaori. She is not my style. She is good in the ground and doing corner combos, but I just don’t like the fact that she pretty much got no air game.

FFD: you can try Palet Mail. They handle all three EFZ versions and is cheaper than Himeya and chances that even Akibado:

Good man, you really are. It’s done.

Question about Doppel Nanase : Aside from gauge generating, what does her OD do?

Random system observations:

Whiffing normals builds meter, that’s fairly duh. I’m not sure if each character builds meter at a different rate, but that’d be kinda dumb.

From my really quick test-
Whiffing 5-6 As will make the meter go up visibly. It alternates, like it’ll take 5, then 6.
Whiffing 2 Bs will make the meter go up visibly. I haven’t noted many inconsistencies in my admitably sloppy test, except sometimes it only takes one (ie. B (raises meter), B (raises meter)), though that could have been 'cuz I was testing As and stuff as well.
Whiffing one C will make the meter go up visibly.

Whiffing specials makes the meter rise more, I guess. Like I said, sloppy test =P

If I wasn’t lazy I would have gone through and tested what it takes to fill a bar or something. But yeah I’m lazy. Maybe later.

I don’t get the ‘dash cancelling’ deal with Kaori though. Or perhaps I’m not sure when I’m actually doing it or how to do it.

I’ll try that combo Gwy.

Kaori works a lot like Dudley in 3S. You do the attack at the end of the dash, before the recovery animation (raising up) starts.

Also, I got some replays yesterday. As I said in IRC, I will post comments later. But for now, here is the address:

Some good Misuzu, Misaki and Mai action. Some Mio and Ikumi (gotta keep practicing with her) too. Missed several things because of keyboard position (too low). I am always P1. One of my friends (SRK: DaphnesNohansen) played Akane and the other (SRK: Cesar AKA Cez_TS) the rest. Last game by another guy who doesn’t even play the game :stuck_out_tongue:

Cez_TS has improved a lot. The interesting thing is that he is not much of a replay watcher, what he does he finds it himself.

B rave, r u yunari’s friend that moved to US recently?
>> yes,it’s me. Now is my brother’s turn to use computer. I can’t come here about 1-3days.(TDT

about VMan’s replay: your replay is verywell!I have seen the good player in my country just only 3-4 players. oww, I really want to fight with you (TTDTT.

(any body can drive me to California? << ??!

Today I played some more with DaphnesNohansen and Mr. Hadouken (SRK name Ryu_311Funk). You can grab them here:

I will post comments on the replays as they come in the Eternal Romancia thread.

Hey, I just started playing the game… any one got any general tips for the cello girl?

Can’t really say much about Mizuka. She got a very good j.C, and you will definitively need to learn how to use the notes. You can canel normals with note-throwing, so you can do somethng like normal chain > forward note > throw stick to detonate note > continue pressure. It is also possible to make tone traps in the corner.

Hi there! I’m new to the SRK forums (just discovered it a few days ago from the GameFAQS MBR move-list). I’m a fan of the doujin fighting games, and have been that way for a while though. Played a bit of Party Breaker and QoH '99, some MBR, and a lot of EFZ. Though I’ve been improving at MBR a bit lately, EFZ is stil my favourite so far. I got into these games from some friends, and have been playing since about EFZ:BSE 2.12. Doesn’t mean I’m any good, though ^^;

My brother and I both play each out fairly often, usually about once or twice a week. We’re not big fighting game fans, so some of the terms you guys have used I’ve had to figure out from context, but that’s fine ^^; It really shows, though, since we don’t try and destroy each other with big juggling combos and what-not.

Here’s a link to a set of replays we did just before I started reading this thread so I wouldn’t be influenced by all the combos you guys have given ^_~

http://www.sfu.ca/~tjneufel/EFZ-Replay/AvJR-020405-REPLAY.rar

My brother’s on the right, I’m on the left, and we both use PS->USB convereters for our PS2 controllers. I’m still surprised I pulled off Misuzu’s OS (Oversoul, I use terms from Yunari’s FAQ) during the first replay. We usually play with 2x dmg and 3/5 for rounds, so it came as a surprise when that finished off the match with my 2nd win there ^^;

Our playthroughs almost always involve ten fights, since I ‘use’ 10 characters, and he uses 5. I pick a random character of mine, then we go through the loop until we’re done. He goes 2x with each character in this order: Mishio -> Makoto -> Ayu -> Shiori -> Kano

With my random character, I go through a loop of: Misuzu -> Mai -> Sayuri -> Mayu -> Mizuka -> Misao (Yunari’s term for Unknown) -> Misaki -> Mio -> Rumi -> Ikumi

I’d appreciate any comments you have ^^

your replay doesn’t work =(

which version u guy use?
the lastest is 3.10
and i think replay can only take 3 rounds and normal damage, but im not sure

My version of EFZ is 3.10, so that’s not the problem, I think. I wonder what is though… I’ve downloaded it from where it was, and played the replay files from that .rar, so that’s not the problem, either…

As for the replays’ lenght/damage… All the replays ended up being ‘best 2 out of 3’, as we abruptly found out. Since you can’t seem to play them, 1-1 is Misuzu (me) vs. Mishio. At the end of the 3rd round, Misuzu OS’ed Mishio (I still can’t believe I connected, but he tends to forget about it if I don’t use it for a while) and we got 2 extra phrases after the CG, which confused me, until it faded back to the replay screen, at which point we discovered that we WERE limited to two rounds.

As for the damage, this shows that it’ll still retain the damage setting you’re using. Since you might not be able to view this either, it shows Mai connecting with 236236C for 9899 damage.

Also, just for confirmation, try this one out as well: data2-3.rep
Not sure if that’ll work for you or not, but if it does, it’ll confirm a suspicion I have for the problem.

Are they not working at all, or are you still able to see what the match-up should be on the ‘select replay’ screen?

Some more matches between me and Mr. Hadouken (Ryu_311Funk):

Comments are in the EFZ thread of Eternal Romancia: http://kalciane.tnim.org/mb/

Oh, and there’s replays of EFZ from the recent NoVA gathering, too.
