I am trying to hear a logical explanation as to why Kingofkod thinks that Empire Arcadia is like a “first person shooter clan.” I do not expect one. What you said is right, the only thing that separates Empire Arcadia gamers from ‘normal’ gamers is the ‘EMP’ prefix on their gamer handles.

I read the article twice. It’s actually spawned a good amount of discussion in a chat room I frequent for the last couple of hours. I’ve been integrated into the fighting game scene both as a player and a director for 9 years now. I’ve worked with Isaiah in the past. While some of your points at their base have merit, I found the tone used was one that precluded objective open discussion. If anything it’s placed you (OP) in a defensive posture when it was wholly unnecessary. I’m happy to debate points later on today when I get home (stuck at work right now) if you’re up for it.
Sure no problem! I could only go by the research I have done for the past week and the analysis that I have applied to it. I agree some of the information presented is speculation, and may be untrue. I am willing to omit the false data and add any new data if you have some for me. I am sorry if the tone of the article somehow prevents objective discussion, it is hard to keep my emotions out of a topic I feel strongly about. The article is supposed to be unbiased, but you and I both know how easy it is to be emotionally invested in one’s work. I do not want to be in a defensive position, I am on the same level as everyone else, I am a member of the community. I hope that you can understand that it was not my intention for the article to have a tone attached to it. I will be more than happy to debate points with you later on! Maybe it would spawn up some edits in the article itself. If you wouldn’t mind helping, that would be awesome.
On a side note, is the chat room you are talking about public? I am curious to see what is being said. I do not use chat rooms other than AIM private rooms with my friends.

Actually, it is not an article. But, it would be nice to have it nominated, although I am pretty sure it would not make it to the front page.
You could make that point without using an awful, sensationalist metaphor that you can’t logically defend. But the whole thing is pretty poorly written in the first place, so I guess I shouldn’t expect much.

He does in my opinion. In the article he doesn’t mention any negativity he has personally experienced. He’s just going off of what he’s heard as far as I can tell. It would be nice if there was a link to a thread, youtube video, or maybe the details of his personal experiences with empire to back up his claims. As it stands it looks as though he’s just some random guy posting about empire. I’m not defending the empire by any means. They could indeed be a terrible organization but i don’t see anything to make me take shinjo seriously.
I was on IRC when Sabin posted up an except of a conversation was having with Triforce when he announced he wanted to leave Empire Arcadia on the TeamSp00ky stream.
Triforce basically said hire a personal lawyer if you want to leave.
When asked if he had any licenses for himself or Empire Arcadia to “manage” talent, he dodged all the questions with “none of your business” retorts.

That isn’t a pyramid scheme at all, though. I’m not saying that EMP is any better because that is the case, just that this has nothing to do with a pyramid scheme whatsoever.
To be honest I am pretty sure that everyone knows that there is no money in gaming yet. That is the whole point, that is what he is trying to do.

There is actually money in gaming, it is reserved for the upper one percent though. Only extremely talented marketable gamers can make a living out of playing video games. As the scene continues to grow, the number of gamers this market can support will increase. Until then, a very select few will have the privilege of calling gaming their profession. The rest of the ‘normal’ gamers in turn must call it a hobby.

The scene growing does not instantly mean more people quitting their jobs to spam hadokens. The ‘scene’ is MASSIVE in Japan and NOBODY was playing for a living.
