So how does everyone feel about it?
You know, since it’s from the people that brought you District 9 and stuff…
I mentioned my thoughts on Elysium already(in the Pacific Rim thread) so I might as well quote myself.

Looks cool. Like a motion picture Halo or something. Might check it out. Which is funny because I haven’t had an urge to go see a movie in a long term.
I loved District 9 (up there with Fifth Element and the Matrix for me) so I’ll have to check it if it’s being headed by the same dudes.
Yea man. But I felt that the previews weren’t substantial enough, even in the theatre.
There better be some serious ass kicking in this movie.
I hated District 9 so ill probably just watch this when it hits netflix
@NickRocks
I actually saw District 9 from a copy at the library. And I completely loved it.
At the time of its release I just wasn’t a moviegoer at all, and I wasn’t interested by the trailers all that much. I totally regret that past self of mine, haha. Now I go to the theatre as often as I can.
I saw Elysium(IMAX) at noon today. Okay I’m not gonna lie, I was gifted an AMC pass to see it, although I would’ve paid for a ticket anyway. =)
Despite my mixed feelings, Elysium is an intense movie with spectacularly violent action. Also, at some points in the movie I was just gushing at the environments and details. What I should say is that Elysium just isn’t quite on the same level as District 9, which most of us are probably expecting. Still, it’s definitely worth watching.
…Oh, and I should mention that Kruger is an absolute monster. The confrontation between him and Max(Matt Damon) is what sells this movie. Seriously go watch it.
Alright, so I hope we’ll have some discussion later on! Unfortunately I won’t be on SRK for a whole week starting tomorrow.
cool…
Where is my Battle Angel movie. Fuck this wannabe shit. I’d give up both hands to that dude Armblessed just for a movie that goes to the Motor Ball arc. shit.
We will never see a Cannon Spike in live-action movies.
Matt Damon.
Cameron still wants to do it but the Avatar sequels have taken precedent for some reason.
The FIRST Avatar taking precedence was a lame call, imo.
Though it was probably fiscally sound.
But what serious fanboy with the means DOES that?

Funny you should mention that. The director was originally slated as the director of the Halo movie, but plans eventually fell through. He learned a lot and kept a lot of the tech and work they had done for preproduction and it kinda became Elysium.
Avatar was a 500 million dollar camera test.
The ending is just wtf. It’s a predictable ending but I think ending leaves everything much worse than before. So many Robinhood movies since 2008 and storming in on the rich and giving it everyone else just screws up things even more.
saw it today. Ms. Foster pullin’ out DA COWS. 5/5! :woot:
Wow Elysium had really lousy security.
Haha Elysium had no security whatsoever. But really, who’s going to attempt to breach their own little island in space?
So for people who saw it…what was your favorite part of the movie? I can’t really say but I wish we had seen more clashes and, usage from the ChemRail.
It’s anti-government, so I am liking it already.
I’m guessing you like Atlus shrugged then? Its as anti-gov’met as it comes.
'cause gov’met bad…
Mmmaaaan, I had such high hopes on this movie but it just didn’t deliver. Excellent idea, horrible execution.
You know what would make sense regarding lack of security, if the intro tells us Elysium used to be a place where everyone lives but over time, the gap between rich/poor stretched so far that now only the most elite lives there. I mean there was not even turrets or anything to guard the damn place! Fuck!
