So long as the hobos don’t turn on us, otherwise who needs security? Ammiright?[/details]

Imagine if Kruger has a change of heart and fights for Earth…
Kruger’s accent doe
Just got from seeing it, still sinking in
…not sure I liked it =/
But for what it was worth, I really enjoyed the imagery and seeing things get murked in various ways by both Kruger and Max.
[details=Spoiler]
Look at that delicious grin on his face. <3 Kruger
We all know what’s about to happen to that poor sap getting shot at…[/details]
Eminem was originally going to star as Max, which would’ve made a huge difference in his character. Nonetheless it’s fine.
So yeh, I didn’t like this movie, it failed in story telling. Del Toro managed to explain why we built giant mechs to beat up aliens within the first 2 minutes of his movie, this film fails to explain the most basic questions about Earth and Elysium’s existence, how did an entire planet turn into a ghetto, why do they need so many androids and weapons, how many billionaires live on Elysium (a billion? The place is so big they have a President), how much did it all cost, why didn’t they send the med pods to Earth they obviously had a lot lying around just gathering dust (all of this could have been avoided by doing just that), if they can alter dna down to the atom why can’t they clean up Earth’s atmosphere??? How did things get so bad, none of it made any sense to me in the end. The story started out as one kids dream of living on Elysium, but by the end it just seemed like Earth wasn’t all that bad they’re just poor, working like slaves, living in slums for no apparent reason, what people really need in order to get on with their lives are med pods.
Still looks to me like Blomkamp wants to make Halo. So many of the scenes felt like they belonged in a videogame. I actually grew quite annoyed with some of the camera tricks, they were thrown in so randomly, 3rd person view, camera tied to his head, slow mo (Kruger’s jump), so much shaky cam! All used with no real purpose.
Just like District 9, the weapons are freaking cool.
lol that accent, Jodie’s too WTF
Jodie couldn’t decide which accent she wanted to use, so she used em all at once
lol another thing the guy that they shot down, Kruger could have put his head on ice, the lab guys at the end of the movie pretty much said they didn’t need Max alive to retrieve the data.
Yea…there were plot holes in the movie. I guess I was expecting too much from the movie; was expecting ‘District 9’ level. Don’t get me wrong, Kruger’s weapons was definitely inspired from District 9 and as bad-ass as he was, the rest of the movie was kinda ‘meh’.
Hopefully ‘District 10’ will deliver!
Why didn’t they just put Damon in a med pod while extracting the data? And how is Halo not suing… I mean, seriously… any shape in the world and you pick that one… the terra was even on the inside… seems like i’ve seen that before… Oh Yeah… its Halo. I’m not saying you cant use a ring… it even makes sense with gravity and all (if you were outside of earths pull that is - which they weren’t - which brings up a total A.D.D. rabbit trail here: did the other side of earth even know Elysium existed? What with poverty and all, there’s no way they would travel around the globe to see it in the sky), shoot, even deep space nine had a hoop for a ship… but Elysium was an obvious copy.
Even Whitewolf pushed a lawsuit onto Underworld after that blatant plagiarism … they should have called that one “Vampire: The Masquerade”.
… they also never got around to explaining Fosters bionic calf muscles and adamantium knuckles… maybe those will tie in during a directors cut or something… maybe it has something to do with those random accents.
they shoved the PCB into his brain. no telling how the med pod would treat that. med pod could destroy the info on the device thinking it’s a tumor or something.
Jodie Foster should be able to stand trial though.
are you for real, dude? it’s a re-imagining of a Syd Mead drawing created *decades * before Bungie was even formed!
and Syd Mead collaborated with Neill Blomkamp on the design!
fucking* Halo…* Jesus Christ…
and hell, 2001 was made in 1968!
cows. 5/5 movie. nuff said-hang on…
you suck.
ok. now nuff said.
Keep finding myself on the same wave length as Kermode
^ I have to agree with the above. I think it’s a very fair review.
I’m confident Blomkamp will really deliver next time.
So, I guess in the future there’s no blutooth/wireless?
Saw the movie yesterday and it was surprisingly bland and boring and probably had one of the corniest villains I’ve seen in a while.
I wish they had subtitles for the South Africans because I could only understand every other word.
The ending was kind of dumb. So everyone on an overpopulated, environmentally ravaged planet now has access to med tech that can extend their lives so they can produce even MORE offspring? Dumb.
