Elk Grove, CA - The City Coffeehouse Thread

Yeah I’ve heard but I don’t have any real experience with them and I don’t want my first time to be in a tournament for money. The controller feels natural to me so I would use it in the tournament

STICKS FOR LYFE SON!

Try using one during some casuals. You’ll never look back.

I’ve tried it in the arcades, and it’s a handicap for me.

So how have the tournaments been working out for you guys?
I just found the thread & am new-ish to the Sacramento area.
Weekends work for me BTW.
Any chance of getting some BlazBlue going as well?
Just got the game & am having some fun with it.

Look me up on XBL for some rounds fellas, just message me that you’re from SRK so I know who you are.

It is not possible to dual mod a fight pad. Not unless you want to use an original xbox 1 gamepad.

Your only handicapped for allowing yourself to not practice on stick. Your holding back your true potential playing on pad. I used to play pad myself, and yes it was a bitch converting to stick but it has made life easier (especially arcade tournies). You just have to accept the fact that your probably gonna get your ass beat the first couple of times you play casuals/tournies with it, because your not used to it. I have not run back to pad since using a stick, it’s that good/fun

Alright, alright… I’ll give it another try! Hahaha

THIS. But no one believes me

I do

this???

Ubyte64, believe me when I tell you I still have issues with other fighting games with the stick - especially where you need to be FAST, eg MVC2, or need finesse, eg ST. I can get away with sloppy inputs with SFIV because the game’s input system is pretty forgiving. But I feel I have much more potential with the stick with ALL fighting games - I still suck using the stick at the others, but the better I get, the more I feel that I would’ve been limiting myself with the pad. Trust me trust me trust me - as a former dedicated pad user, I feel fairly qualified to make this statement - THE STICK WILL BE BETTER FOR YOU. Trust me. Give it time and you should see results!

Sad we won’t have Davis people at this tourney, but that means IT’LL BE EASIER TO GET THAT FIGHT MONEY :open_mouth: (Davis’ Ryus are quite difficult)

Practice up guys, tourney’s tomorrow and those going to Evo are going to need all the practice they can get! NORCAL OR NO CAL!

this is truth… speaking from experience i was a dedicated pad player on a huge plethora of other games that required strict timing or tricky inputs and i allways just pushed through with the pad… but with sf4 i decided to listen to this forum and give stick a try. and yeah i can’t even understand how i played this game on a controller before, like you have sooo much more control with a stick it’s not even funny.

Anyone want to go to tombrokavs session tomorrow? I needa ride. I have gas moniesssss…

If any of you are interested just give me a call at 530 903 9132. Morgan.

I have a ps3, one happ stick. Two hd setups, 42 and 37 inch. When there are enough people we can run two systems, provided someone brings another system.

Ok, so I just want to get this correct…there is a tournament every saturday at the “City Coffee Shop” in Sacremento?? If there is, I’m stoked for tomorrow.

Yup, 2 ‘o clock tomorrow! Hey guys, I think I might bring my 360 and stuff for the casuals… You guys feelin’ that? Yay or nay?

Anyone going to tom brokavs session let me know plz. I NEED to play sf4 and NEED to get out of the house lol :looney:. If I had my car I wouldn’t be posting this but times change so ANYONE going, hit me up. The num is 559-269-2732. Lets do this!

P.S I have gas monies!

Do we have a head count of who’s coming to the tourney tomorrow?

I’ll be there this time. Hopefully I can hitch a ride back into Sacramento proper somewhere, or else I might have to bail early to catch a bus.

Ubyte, just come a bit early and you can casual with random people before the tournament. We had casuals going on til 3, and that was when we started.

WhiteShadow - Kyle, right? - I think it’s hard to get a reliable headcount for this sort of thing, since it’s a regular thing. I’m expecting a smaller turnout though, because the Davis tourney is going on at the same time.
