Yeah, I think Cr. MP should work well, as would well-spaced St. HK. He has good buttons and good high-lows, so it’s important to put the pressure on him, I think, so that he doesn’t get his stuff started.
With Dudley, I play pretty conservatively against him. Cr. MP and St. MP are awesome. I got a whiff-punish Cr. MP into HP MGB TC into Elena for good damage, felt pretty nice. If only Hwoarang didn’t have a DP…
So my most common knockdowns are Lynx tail and Slide, what kind of oki is the best off these two? Wish I some of your matches to watch but Is saw Justin get good mileage from b.hk, which surprised me because I imagine it is either just a 80dmg meaty, or it has good value with its crouching invincibility but don’t meaties stuff all crouching besides some reversals?
Isn’t st.HK also a decently good crouch invincible attack that can link to cr.MP, for 10 damage more than b.HK? Though b.HK is a bit faster, so maybe that’s the value in it.
Sorry to bump this, but of course I just realized why B + HK is a good meaty:
1 - Elena’s only other good confirmable meaties are crouching attacks (IMO). This means they could get beaten out by raw launcher.
2 - It has a decent number of active frames, which means it can be positive on block if timed right.
3 - It’s easy to hit confirm.
4 - It beats wake up throw or low.
Now, St. HK does this too, but I’m not sure about the active frames. It seems like either would work. Maybe it’s just a psychological thing - I’m sure it gets annoying hearing Elena say “Haaah!” over and over from all the B + HKs.
So, to generate discussion, while there’s not guarantee that there’ll be one, but I was wondering what the Elena crowd things the kenyan princess needs in order to become a more viable character. Below are my thoughts.
Generally, Elena’s in a good spot, though a few recommendations
-Either Improved Damage on Spin Scythe (25/20 to 30/25 at minimum) or Make it a true block string that can’t be raw launched out of.
-Give a use for HK Rhino Horn - right now, it has no use. Even it’s as simple as much as making it hit crouchers where LK and MK can’t, or maybe make it comboable after EX Lynx Tail/Spin Scythe
-Make cr.MK special cancellable - One of her longest pokes and it really doesn’t do much beyond just being a nuisance into boost combos and in that regard, st.mk is better.
Reduce the recovery on St. HP. It’s like -8 ON HIT. Why? It’s a move that misses on crouchers.
I think the logic here is that you can cancel to st.HK as part of her target combo. That said, you’re almost never going to land this move on a standing opponent. If anything, I’d like it to just hit crouchers.
Make J. MP > HP more consistent on airborne targets. Possibly alter the float height on J. MP.
I can agree with this. Though, it can go either way as far as whether it helps more or less.
Make it easier to hit Cross Art as an anti-air. Right now, even when far away, it goes under some jump-ins.

Something fun: Crumple stun on Counter Hit St. HP, or possibly Fall-over stun on counter hit B + HK (could be overpowered, but probably fine).
I’d prefer the B+HK buff more, if only cause I just feel there’s no major advantage for that over st.HK
Something else I thought of that sort of annoys me: EX Scratch Wheel is useless in combos because it requires a lot of juggle potential. Why not have it fully hit if it’s the third move in a juggle? e.g. Cr. MP xx MK Rhino Horn, Cr. MP xx MK Rhino Horn, EX Scratch Wheel.
