That’s awesome because I hate that matchup. I’ll take any gimmick to make it even slightly easier. 
This may be the case for all projectiles. I’ve had success going over Guile’s Sonic Boom with H Rhino Horn, and a few other characters’ fireballs. Each one may be different, but I find it’s more toward the middle-to-end of the animation that the Rhino Horn will fly over the fireball.
How are people dealing with the Abel match-up? My buddy owns my soul with him.

One of the weirdest things I’ve ever experienced playing this game.
If the character does not have a Dive kick or a command throw Elena beats them or goes even.
Elenas Clock Game makes a lot of her matchups in her favor.
I think Elena fights grapplers really well. It’s just a matter of staying patient. Although I think Hugo maybe the most difficult of the grapplers.
Elena can AA divekicks pretty well. The divekicks that give me the most trouble personally are the ones that blow up crouch techs and have no height restrictions Cammy or decapre for instance.
I think decapre’s divekick is a non issue, but her IA EX spiral is insane.
That’s what I consider as her divekick.
She can’t really AA level 3(deep) cross ups really well. Level 2 and 1 are easy yeah.
I think Elena gets wrecked by grapplers. Geif is the most managable. Hawk destroys her free, as does Hugo.
The big issue is that she can’t make a mistake, ever.
Hawk is another extreme since if I do Jab Spire pressure she cant punish me so shes stuck blocking, and her reversal options in that matchup are non existant.
As a Hawk player, I just play footsies, get a knockdown, and go nuts. I much beter with Hawk than I am Elena so I would be more than happy to run sets with you guys for that matchup. I think grapplers are true counters to her.
I play on ps3 I’m not sure if you do or if you’re on Xbox. For grapplers in terms of difficulty I think Hawk is the easiest one for Elena.
For me I think Hugo gives her the most trouble then gief than hawk. I’m not sure about Hakan.
I dunno about that. I guess Hawks are not doing Spire pressure? If you force yourself to be passive, I think Elena does have a fiarly ok time? You just cant get knocked down OR let him in.
so are we all in agreement that elena CAN beat ryu? or is it just even…
I’ll agree to that but getting anyone else around here to say anything about Elena winning a MU isn’t possible.
I think its even or slightly in her favor.
She only has maybe 2-4 unfavorable matchups, the rest I think she runs even or wins.
Wow I felt this way but people said I was crazy. Now everyone calls her bottom 5 and I don’t even believe anyone has taken the time to explore her. I think the biggest disservice are some of the guys on this board. But she’s a really good character I’m glad I stuck with her and hopefully as I improve I can do more with her.
Ryu/Elena feels even. Ryu’s walking cr.MP pressure is really good Elena if he gets in. He also hits like a truck on her. It tends to come down to who can get the first knockdown.
Elena is really good the only bad MU she has is Abel,rose,dhalsim,boxer and sometimes t hawk when he gets lucky but she beats shotos 7-3 easy you stay in cr hp range they can’t really do anything throw fb absorb, jump cr hp throw fire move in a little jump hk going at an angle hits their dashin frames and if your close enough get the knock down. Meaty cr lk stops Oni, Thawk, and Dudley they can’t do anything about it but I wouldn’t recommend do it when T hawk has U1
Rose is honestly over powered scrubs that are not playing her correctly gets a lucky cr mp into spiral and that’s half your life. I need advice on the MU and Abel I hate getting beat by scrubs
Mind fucked. I thought all Elena players were emo.
She loses badly to dive kick characters in my opinion.
