ok,
somebody please explain to my noobish ass whats up with Elena’s super?
???
like, I hit this crouching Ryu with the super while he was hitting buttons, caught him with the first few hits…her first rising…and he recovered and got back on block before she lands her second and third flurry of hits.
I got hit by the split kick. That’s why I said the command and not the name since I was unsure of the name, but maybe you should pull your head out of your ass and test things out at all ranges and scenarios before you say something like IT NEVER HITS crouch block. Jesus. How the fuck do you even crouch block an overhead?
Maybe you should of said it doesn’t whiff vs her moves and you still end up getting a crouch block after she does one of her crouching moves? It took me like 5 minutes to practice doing F+HK after seeing a whiffed cr.mp (which causes Elena to block). Maybe you should be less of a stuck up bitch and ask for cases where this it causes Elena to block and then amend your statement.
And don’t call me a dumb ass you prideful piece of shit.
Bad hitboxes and bad reeling animation hurtboxes causes this to happen.
Because there isn’t much to respect about her game. No chains no, no true blockstrings outside of meaties and a bunch of 1 frame links mixed with awkward 2 frame links. She’s just not that scary because of it. Add all of that with online and you have people mashing. Also her hitboxes are deceptively meh so characters with great 3 frame cr.lp can mash out if you mistime any of your strings.
More or less although she doesn’t have the walk speed they have.
@kitl19 I think your initial response was pretty snobby. Thus Sprint responding the way he did. But that’s just how I saw it. Ibuki’s f hk is 13 frames startup and -3 on block. I haven’t played the Ibuki MU too much. But it’d be like saying Elena s.hk or b hk dominate the mirror. Ibuki’s f hk probably goes over lows better than the Elena’s. I’m just trying to out it into context.
Apologies. I was assuming you were still confused over the moves like before.
f+HK can connect 1-2 frames after the recovery of a move because it catches the animation transition between the previous move and the crouch-block. The same also applies with meaty f+HK. It’s the whole reason characters like Cammy and Hakan have non-crouchable meaty throw setups.
f+HK may connect against such transitions, but it will NEVER connect against Elena’s actual crouch-block animation. This will be the case every time Elena is simply holding down-back during a blockstring or in the neutral game.
Something that gives the opponent a completely free high-damage punish just for being patient is a fucking terrible option. You may as well be doing point blank lariats with Zangief.
Fair enough sprint I was just annoyed when I saw the crouch block animation. I’m guessing it’s the same principle behind fuzzy guards as well. But I’m not saying it’s a great option, in fact I agree for the time being (until the inevitable hitbox fix) it’s butt cheeks, however I just thought for specificity’s sake it’d be good to mention it.
Best Elena is Akimo. He’s currently 6th on the Japanese arcade rankings.
Haven’t seen any footage of him for over a month though. I vaguely remember him beating Bonchan then barely losing to Sako in a team tournament.
I think you missed the point of what I’m trying to make here.
she’s crouching low like him. he’s from Africa. so is she…crouch low capoeira style. monkey style is something the uploader came up with. therefore harder to hit. swings miss and hits whiff.
also, notice the sumo wrestler does bear hug like Honda.
the movie came out years before Street Fighter 2.
88 I think.
SF2 in 91.
don’t doubt the movie had a major influence on SF2 developers…SF3 devs too. Capcom fighting staff in general.
…Capoiera isn’t even an African style. And if that were the influence Elena would’ve been in SF2. What are you on…?
And monkey kung fu is a real thing it originated in China and he’s using monkey kung fu, and not capoiera. Just because he’s black and she’s black… I don’t even want to address this. Put down the quarter pound bro.
lol, wut? wtf are you talkin 'bout?
do you see the actor in the movie standing still? or rolling around and constantly in motion?
wtf is racist about seeing the similarity between the character Elena and the character in the movie?
next thing you might say is I’m racist for seeing similarities between Honda and the wrestler in the movie.
No shit Capoeira is Brazilian.
I know that. but Brazilian kung fu is based on African martial arts among other influences.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I don’t even know why, da fuck, you even assume the martial art the guy in the movie is doing is even monkey style kung fu.
first off, the only guy that mentions “monkey” is the uploader of the clip.
in no way shape or form is there any reference to “monkey” or “monkey style” by anyone in the actual movie.
there’s no name or verbal reference to ANY style being done by that particular actor.
if, at the end of the movie he is referenced by the credit lister as the “monkey style” fighter,…then I dunno. but even the credit lister isn’t an authority on either the movie or have any relationship with the actor to even know what the actor was trying to do in the film.
and I know monkey style. all 5 different forms of monkey style kung fu.
and I’m not saying what the actor is performing is not monkey style, I’m saying it could have lots been influenced by monkey style and capoeira and lots of other things coulda been influences for the actor.
I am saying in the eyes of Capcom staff coulda seen the movie, which, tbh, they probably did since everyone interested in martial arts did see the movie, both here in America and the far east, and drew inspiration from it.
does the actor crouch low in the movie?
y/n?
does Elena crouch low?
y/n?
do attacks whiff over the actor in movie?
y/n?
do attacks whiff on crouching Elena?
y/n?
And no. if Bloodsport influenced character designs & fighting style creations for SF2…it doesn’t necessarily mean they couldn’t leave an influence by the movie for a later game. ie, SF3 to be exact.
no I think you sir are on drugs to even think I’m some sort of ignoramus. and of all things about martial arts no less.
smh.
you even spelled Capoeira wrong.
its e before i. not i before e motherfucker.
