Despite what people are saying. no real buffs while being mid tier and get a significant nerf is pretty huge. They really didn’t address any of his issues just gave him stupid shit. That’s why I gave up on him. It’s like look at Dee Jay then look at what thawk vega and Dudley got. It’s w.e. though some people can do well with a bad character. It’s only character loyalty driving people to play him IMO.

I figured the only safe way to land it was to land a red focus combo then back dash and activate as its the only way you can get a safe hard knockdown with some distance
Elena is a solid character imo, def mid tier somewhere.
Back throw is okay to set up in very particular situations. Red focus is expensive and does work, but the ONLY thing you can RFC out of is Spin Scythe. Not even s.fierce combos into RFC. Well, I have to check 1 hit Scratch Wheel, but I don’t think that would work. I think the BEST way to set it up is to LV2 focus cancel H.Lynx Tail, which gets canceled into from c.strong or s.fierce. I firmly believe that keeping H.Lynx Tail on deck is important to successfully running U2 because that’s the least expensive guaranteed way (for now) to grab a full heal.
It’s not impossible for a bad character which no one knows how to play against yet can get top 8 with a player that generally does well in tournaments anyway.
No, apparently not! Because Elena is the worst character in videogame history and there she is top eighting all over the place. Will wonders never cease?
We should take note that alot of people in top 8 was the usual suspects running their usual shit. Which has been built on years of playing at the highest level. Compared to just a month with the character… Akimo did well with her as did chrisG. Maybe it’s a fluke new characters and such but I’m not so sure. They’re not the only high level players to pick up one of the new characters yet they’ve shown more so far. But of course as with anything Elena there’s always some type of negative associated with her.
Nah she has quite a few tools into RF but none of her specials set up U2 so you can either back throw or red focus into it but that’s about it. Otherwise you’re running the chance to being punished
After watching jwong vs infiltration I don’t think anyone can say that Elena is truly bottom 5. I think most of the detractors were knee jerk reactions. I’m not sure how anyone can hold onto that opinion after CEO.
Correction I forget that red focus can be quick stood. So yeah the only decent one would be back throw

Did Infiltration have experience against Elena? Just wondering. If he did, all fine and dandy. If he didn’t, give it a few months.
Yeah it was a shame how they lost but they repped her pretty well. I think if Chris G had U2 he would have beaten infiltration. If not those close matches would have been in his favor.
I’m not sure if he had experience prior to today but he did play chris g in top 8. So he did get a little experience before playing jwong. It’s not like he didn’t know stuff and couldn’t punish. There was some sloppy play but I think that that had to do with the settings. Tight sets though.
I didn’t get to see the matches… damn work. I’ll have to check them out but from the people who watched it, do you think that Elena is only getting placed high because of the newness of the game?
I don’t think so the matches are in the video thread if you want to check them out. But about Elena if it a just newness then there’s 4 other new characters that were introduced. It’s not as though Elena has been talked up like other characters.
Maybe she was lucky I only really saw top 8 and what was posted on YouTube so who knows. I didn’t really see her vs Yun so maybe she avoided him. Did Wong play Elena before his match with infiltration? But with that said for a new character she had a pretty strong showing. Even in MU’s that are claimed heavily against her.
I agree, but I don’t think he’s a fan of healing for some reason. I also like how Akimo used her against Guile, it’s exactly what I wanted to see.
I’ll check it. I only ask because of the four returning she’s the only one who doesn’t play close to how she once did. Obviously not taking anything away from the players who utilized her or their opponents since they made it to the top.
Is there any safe way to cancel into any of her specials or should I just fish with normals mostly? Like are any of the specials safe if you clip the enemy with the tip or can you be punished anyway?
