This comment didn’t make too much sense on it’s own to me, but using it as a basis for experimentation I started doing:

Turns out I wasn’t even making it to back from downback initially. Now my inputs are a bit cleaner and its easier.
Y’all too whiny. I’m lurking this forum for info, as I’ve surprisingly found Elena fun and relatively effective. But wow, every other post is complaining that she sucks.
C’mon, guys. She’s got good tools.
My only 3 complaints are she’s hella meter hungry, some combos fail and her aa game doesn’t really frighten people.
Her pros far outweigh that stuff.
My thoughts on Elena after a couple of days. I think she has potential she’s not flashy like decapre but she has some good things going for her. Walk speed big normals and high damage. See seems like vega’s and Dhalsim love child. The better spaced her stuff is the more effective and harder to punish it becomes. She has her faults but I’m not sure if they’re as crippling as people make them out to be. The struggle is real though.
She doesn’t have a good walk speed though…At least for a character based on footsies
She feels like she has a pretty good walk speed. What would be an appropriate comparison for her walk speed?
She’s in the lower half of the cast for walk speed. So same speed as Ryu, Honda, or Fei. Thing is, fei makes up for his slower walk speed with the huge range on his rekkas, Elena doesn’t have anything that takes up that much space and is safe.
Her fwd walk is the same as Fei Long, Honda, and Ibuki. Her backwards speed is 0.03825, and the closest match there is Yang or Guy I think.
Ya, her backwards walkspeed is pretty unique, no one else has that exact same speed so it’s in between a bunch of people
Like i told every other person who decides to stop lurking Elena not good at all all her moves are negative on block except for 2 and Plinking is hard from a light move cause thats not possible without a select button and her slide is -10 on block so you need to time it just right. Her moves have a hella long start up too anyone who knows the MU will blow up all your unsafe moves. Her cons clearly out weigh her benefits everyone needs to realize that Elena is a bad character period!. She has no Bullshit factor what so ever except her hitbox. That being said I have had great success with her but you all need to realize if you are winning with Elena that is you who is winning not the charc at all you are the one who created the frame traps landed the over heads and made the links to the combos. So congrats if you are having success than you’re a good player but that doesnt mean the charc itself is good look at the frame data on paper the charc is bad but with practice and a lot of work and MU experience we ourselves become better also contribute and dont complain about the active community it just gives you no credibility when lurkers actually make a post
So what you want to do is this, cross them up if they just crouch jab all the time they never know how to block effectively if they’re using scrub tactics. If they are good players who like to use scrub tactics then its easy to make them flinch one good EX DP to their face will make them think twice than jump. As Elena you have to take risk and like i said before you shouldnt be that close to them you control mid-range not close range for the overheads. If the still like to crouch jab hell just do light LT to build meter let them waste their time lol.
Her forward walk speed isnt anything special, her back walk speed is so good and awesome and her back dash is just phenomenal in general def. top 5. I think she’s pretty good where she is right now in walk speed and it only emphasis that Elena needs to walk back more for pressure and spacing rather than go in all the time.
Ah I see so it’s not the greatest it’s not the worst either. Idk it’s been rather hit or miss for the punishes. I’ve been punished for stuff and be at a range where it whiffed. The move was Cody’s cr. Lk and that has pretty good range especially for a lk. Also the range on f. MP is insane and at -2. I think that’s pretty safe.

I think Elena is probably one of those horrible online characters. I feel she would fare way better offline where you can considerably land the 1 frame confirms more easily. I’ve been winning and losing all day online last night but most of my losses were due to either grapplers spamming spd or reversal during my hit confirms.
I don’t have people to play offline with so I’m not really sure if this would be the case.
That’s the first time I’ve thoroughly agreed with you ZHD.
I’d do the same if I knew her frame data.
I land her 1 frame combo all the time online. She’s also not supposed to be putting people in blockstun and frame trapping forever. She wins from controlling neutral.

Did anyone try the Kara grab i posted earlier i think its no good but it might be somewhat useful???
As a person who uses visual queues for combo timing, I find it impossible to combo anything less than 2 frames consistently in any game online, where my execution is nigh perfect offline.
Cr. lk, cr. lp, cr. mp with Elena even feels easy and natural offline.
With that said I will never use this character online in ranked.
