Note: I tried only posting the combos that I felt were optimized or didn’t tend to whiff a lot(Mostly pointing to combos based around non-FADC’d Lynx Tail). Over time I’ll start adding guaranteed hard knockdown U2 setups.

Most of Elena’s combo’s consist of multiple 1 frame or 2 frame links, including her BnB’s

Hit Confirms:

Meterless(BnB’s)

c.LP, c.LP, c.MP xx mk SS = 214 dmg / 322 stun
c.LK, c.LP, c.MP xx mk SS = 214 dmg / 322 stun

Note: Her BnB will always whiff on certain characters when they crouch. On most crouching characters the range in which you can do the BnB will be reduced as well. Characters it always whiffs on will be listed below. I will update the list as I or others test this on more characters. If you see a character on the list, use the combo variation listed below. In situations where you are are farther than point blank range when hit confirming any crouching character not on the list, also use the variation below.

Whiffs when crouching on: Cammy, Yang, Gen, Chun-Li, Elena, Rose, Sakura, Rolento, Dan

U2 Setups

There are two different types of U2 setups, full U2 setups and U2 Cancel setups where you cancel U2 a few frames after it activates by pressing :lp::mp::hp: at the same time. There are three main ways of setting up for full U2, off a Super, off a backthrow, and off EX SS. U2 cancel setups on the other hand can be setup from her regular SS or EX SW as well on most characters. Full U2 setups only work on a few characters(mainly grapplers) and most of those are only off a backthrow/Super. Most characters will need U2 cancel setups instead to avoid being punished. U2 cancel setups off backthrow or EX SS work on the entire cast.

Full U2 Setups off EX SS will only work on: Zangief

Full U2 Setups off backthrow/Super will only work on: Hugo, Zangief, Hakan(non oiled), Rufus, Dhalsim

All U2 setups(except cancels off backthrow/EX SS) will not work on: Yun, Makoto(with meter), Any character with a fast/far reaching projectile invincible ultra(i.e. Chun U1, Dudley U1, Adon U1, Cody U2 etc.)

To create a Full U2 or U2 cancel setup off EX SS, simply take any combo in the combo thread that cancels into any of her specials as an ender and replace it with EX SS(i.e. from the 2 bar hitconfirm section: c.LP, c.LP, c.MP xx EX MS, c.LP, c.MP xx lk RH, EX SW EX SS, U2)

[details=Spoiler]

A bunch of character-specific stuff I’ve been documenting:

In the following lists, higher listed characters provide more leniency. e.g. If a combo is listed as C+ then it is typically a 1 frame link on C group characters, but will be progressively more lenient on the B/A/S groups.

Corner Spin Scythe
S: Seth
A: Balrog Sagat T.Hawk Zangief
B: Abel Cody Dhalsim Dudley Guile Guy Rose
C: Dan Gouken Ken M.Bison Ryu Yang Yun
D: Adon Blanka Cammy C.Viper DeeJay ElFuerte Elena EvilRyu FeiLong Ibuki Juri Makoto Rufus Vega
E: Akuma Decapre Chun-Li E.Honda Gen Hakan Hugo Oni Poison Rolento Sakura

MK/HK Spin Scythe > Super (D+)
MK/HK Spin Scythe > EX Scratch Wheel (C+)
MK/HK Spin Scythe > HK Scratch Wheel (B+)
MK/HK Spin Scythe > MK Scratch Wheel (A+)
MK/HK Spin Scythe > LK Scratch Wheel (Seth)
MK/HK Spin Scythe > Ultra 1 (Seth)
LK Spin Scythe > Super (All)
LK Spin Scythe > EX Scratch Wheel (All)
LK Spin Scythe > HK Scratch Wheel (All)
LK Spin Scythe > MK Scratch Wheel (D+)
LK Spin Scythe > LK Scratch Wheel (C+)
LK Spin Scythe > Ultra 1 (B+)
LK Spin Scythe > EX Rhino Horn > EX Scratch Wheel (Seth)

Note: The second hit of HK Scratch Wheel whiffs vs Cammy, E.Honda, and Rose.
Against Rose/Cammy you can do LK SS>MK SW instead for more damage, but it’s harder to time.

The lower the strength of the ending Scratch Wheel, the harder it is to connect but the more frame advantage you get. MK SW and HK SW deal the same damage while LK SW deals less. If you have meter just use EX SW because not only is it the easiest, but that shit hurts.

The first 3 combos are the important ones. MK/HK Spin Scythes deal significantly more damage, so being able to situationally use them and still do a followup is very handy.

Corner EX Spin Scythe
A: Cammy Decapre Elena Seth
B: Everyone else
C: Abel C.Viper DeeJay Dhalsim ElFuerte Fei Long Guile Vega
D: Adon Chun-Li Sakura
E: Gen

EX Spin Scythe > Ultra 1 (All)
EX Spin Scythe > EX Rhino Horn > EX Scratch Wheel (All)
EX Spin Scythe > LK Scratch Wheel > EX Scratch Wheel (D+)
EX Spin Scythe > LK Scratch Wheel > HK Scratch Wheel (C+)
EX Spin Scythe > LK Scratch Wheel > MK Scratch Wheel (B+)
EX Spin Scythe > LK Scratch Wheel > LK Scratch Wheel (A)
EX Spin Scythe > EX Scratch Wheel > EX Scratch Wheel (B+ except Gouken, Guy, Sagat)

Note: The second hit of HK Scratch Wheel whiffs vs Cammy, E.Honda, Poison, and Rose.
Against Cammy/Poison/Rose you can use the MK version, but it’s harder to time.

The last combo deals more stun than using EX Rhino Horn, but relies on the shape of the opponent’s hurtbox.
Against Balrog/Cody/Hakan/Seth you need to delay the first EX Scratch Wheel by a few frames or the first hit will whiff.
Against Dudley it’s the opposite. Do the first EX Scratch Wheel early so it only hits 3 times.

Rhino Horn
A: Hakan* T.Hawk*
B: Elena
C: Poison
D: Abel Gen Rose Yang Yun
E: Decapre* E.Honda* Gouken* Rufus* Vega* Everyone else
F: Blanka C.Viper Guile* Guy Hugo* Makoto* Juri Oni Sagat* Zangief*

Any Rhino Horn > EX Scratch Wheel (All)
LK/EX Rhino Horn > Ultra 1 (C+)
LK/EX Rhino Horn > HK Scratch Wheel (A)
MK Rhino Horn > Ultra 1 (D+)
MK Rhino Horn > HK Scratch Wheel (A)
HK Rhino Horn > Ultra 1 (E+)
HK Rhino Horn > HK Scratch Wheel (B+)

  • = LK Rhino Horn > EX Scratch Wheel connects properly (3-4 hits) when midscreen even if not point blank.
e.g. EX Mallet Smash > cr.LP > cr.MP xx LK Rhino Horn > EX Scratch Wheel
Against characters without an asterisk you have to drop cr.MP from the combo for EX SW to connect properly.

Against T.Hawk/Hakan, EX Rhino Horn > EX Scratch Wheel fully connects midscreen.
Slightly delay the SW against Hakan.

Abel Hakan Hugo T.Hawk Zangief
(Of these, Abel is the only one who can duck it normally)

HK Lynx Tail (FADC) HP (vs standing)
Everyone except Blanka and Dan.
Must FADC first spin: E.Honda Elena Rufus T.Hawk Zangief
(Note: FADCing the second spin requires a point blank hit)
(Note: Must delay HP against E.Honda)
HK Lynx Tail (FADC) HP (vs crouching)
FADC any hit: Dudley Hakan Hugo T.Hawk Zangief
FADC first spin: Abel Dan Gouken Seth

MK~d+HP > Ultra 1

In summary: lol Seth, where’d your HP go? [/details]

c.LP, c.LP, c.LP, c.MP xx EX MS… I saw this on the video Desk was showing about her loop combo. It takes a little work but it didn’t take long to learn the timing.

Well organized thread. Will put some of this to use!

The loop is only useful in a few combos, most notably combos starting with EX MS or HP MS. Most of the time though, it ends up being a waste of meter due to scaling.

thanks for all the hard work. the numbers look good but honestly you have to catch someone sleeping in order to hit them with HP mallet, and since it’s so slow and telegraphed.

it’s also the only safe version, which kind of sucks. i’m beginning to really hesitate to use ex (-7 lp / -5 mp / -4 ex on block) and the others don’t combo on hit so they’re useless.

Ya, it’s unfortunate, but if you ever catch someone with one, it’s pretty much game over haha. I’m trying to find setups that somewhat mask the startup and make it not seem as obvious. To at least make it viable to throw out in higher level play once in a while. Due to the disadvantage on block only EX and HP MS are really useful, EX much more so, but you can eat a punish if bloacked and your opponents reactions are quick enough.

Good start, thanks.

I feel that her her j.MK, c.MP xx stuff should be mentioned.

Also am I wrong in recalling from training mode that you can do HP MS, c.MP xx mk SS - using no meter you can combo into super and/or U1?

also, are there any links off her j.LK,f MK target combo?

c.LP, c.LP, c.MP xx mk SS = 214 dmg / 322 stun

I’m doing that combo almost consistently in training room now. But it’s only doing 164 (with 2nd round of kicks from SS too)

that’s because the character takes less damage the less health they have in training mode. wait until the training dummy is at full hp, then try the combo.

I didn’t include any jump in attacks as that’s not really practical. In most cases the opponent will block the jump in. As a fireball punish it works though, yes, but in that case j.HP would be a better option

No, regular SS doesn’t float the opponent high enough for U1 to connect

j.MK is her best jumping cross up attack, and that’s not nothing. It’s an easy way to combo off a simple cross up. Why not mention it?

j.HK is hot garbage in this game and it saddens me.

Well I know for sure the super at least connects off the normal SS in the corner, and before people get all hoity toity (not saying anyone here has yet, just past SRK experience) about their use of meter and Elena needing it for EX moves, Elena’s super does high damage (way better than most of her meter heavy combos) and is easy to combo out of any cancellable move and hit’s airborne opponents for full damage. Don’t scoff at it.

Added

And ya, her super will definitely be useful. Really good for finishing the opponent off.

RH(light)-> brave dance (ultra)
RH(medium)-> brave dance (ultra)
RH(hard)-> brave dance (ultra)
RH(EX)-> brave dance (ultra) (pretty sure this works, can’t remember

SS(EX)->Ultra (corner only)
LT(EX) -> Ultra (almost positive this works)

cr.MK, MS(EX), cr.LP, RH(light), Ultra
FP, RH(medium), Ultra

SS(EX)->SW(hard, or two light) (corner only)

note, these combos were done on hakan

So it seems like the key to opening up her damage output is via RH Lynx Tail xx Focus Attack. The RH Lynx Tail xx Focus Attack allows for a full level 2 crumple or an FADC into s.Fierce (whiffs on crouching opponents).

On crouching opponents stuff like this works
c.Jab, c.Jab xx RH.LT xx level 2 FA, forward dash, rh.RH, Ultra
fierce.MS, c.Strong/c.Forward xx RH.LT xx level 2 FA, forward dash, rh.RH, Ultra
etc.

Obviously you can substitute the [xx level 2 FA, forward dash…] for [xx FADC, s.Fierce xx mk.RH, Ultra] for more damage, but it only works on standing.

But yeah: combos with 400 - 500 damage potential are possible with this.

I made a similar post about HK Lynx Tail FADC in the general thread yesterday. There are well-founded concerns about its range, though. c.LP c.LP c.MP XX HK Lynx Tail is not viable in all matchups because on certain characters only the very first hit of the HK Lynx Tail will connect. However, off of HP/EX Mallet Smasher, (c.LP) c.MP XX HK Lynx Tail should work on everyone, with the added benefit of the Mallet Smasher forcing stand.

I don’t think you should go into U1 off these, though, because just going into EX Lynx Tail into U1 is heavy enough damage and much more meter efficient. However, as a three bar combo without U1 available, it’s absolutely something to keep in mind.

Is cr.lp cr.mp a new link? All the Elena players I saw in the arcades just did cr.lp s.lk SW. Just saw today all these stuff by Justin at Super Dojo.
Also, (can’t check atm) does MS force standing?

c.MP was sped up so maybe it is a new link, and Mallet Smasher does force standing, yes.
