Not at all, for some reason the timing is a lot easier for me on the p1 side. Since i learned you can to it without pressing down for the mist step it became very easy on p1 side. I’m still very, very, very bad on doing it from p2 and cancelling normals.
I’m still a long way from doing it in matches…i need like 2 sec to concentrate on the motion before i can pull it off lol
whats the bnb ewgf combo? I saw it somewhere but I cant find the video now. Im currently doing 3 s.HP xx ewgf, but after that my s.HP misses, im not sure if its my timming that is off or if its the ewgf’s juggle properties that makes the 4th s.HP to miss.
Some random ewgf stuff (all ewgfs are using f, n, df+2 version):
Here is a video of the standalone full dash ewgf that Naps was doing: f, n, d, df~f~n~df+p (first 2 are regular punishes, last 3 are ewgf punishes)

Here is a dash into buffered instant ewgf. f,f,n,df+2. this can perhaps be used in block strings to keep pressure mounted (ewgf invul.) Just pretend that last jump-in was a being blocked…

Just an average wall-to-wall ewgf rep. about 3 hours put into kaz with an old stock SE stick… this is using the f, n, df+p technique. I think it’s strong… very easy to buffer. I think with months of practice, ewgf combos will be as consistent as the tekken variants.
Whoa really nice man. I still can’t get the grasp of it from the p2 side =(.
That dash ewgf seems really really good and a bit easy actually, since the buff window seems so huge. I’ll start practicing that asap.
While I was practicing in arcade mode, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw purple instead of blue. I seem to have a much better success rate getting EWGF from stand :hp: than I do raw. Is there some there some trick to get the EWGF raw?
Man fuck this shit everyone says it’s easier to do from cancelled normals and from p2 side and to me it’s the exact opposite! I’d easily trade skills considering s.hp xx ewgf combos do more damage than ewgf x2 combos. =(
i agree i’ve always been way more consistent on 1p side. for timing, try this. s.HP, as soon as the hit lands press f. then n, df+2 asap. turn on inputs so you see where u go wrong. i can make a timing vid when i get home.
also here’s a super quick kaz sketch i made a while back if anyone is into fanart
Are you using plinks as well? When you’re doing it from normals since you can’t cancel a standalone s.hp into launcher you can plink (or mash) when you’re doing the down input without fear of a cr.hp or qcf+p since you haven’t completed that motion yet. This gives you 2 chances for ewgf essentially making it a 2 frame window instead of a just frame. This actually also works with raw ewgf if you’re quick enough.
I can do the f, n, df shortcut on the p2 side, but I prefer the entire motion on both sides. I don’t know if you’re using a stick, but as it’s been mentioned in some videos it helps to conceptualize a box that goes from f to n to d to df. When doing it from a standing normal I hold forward until the normal hits and then complete the entire motion. So from say a s.mp since it’s so quick to get to the active frames I do it just as I would a raw ewgf whereas I have to wait a hair for s.hp. My down input is very deliberate and I kind of drag across the bottom of the gate to the df. Somewhere slightly between both inputs is where I plink it. When going from a crouching normal I hold down instead of df and make a bee-line to forward (helps to imagine the diagonal within this imaginary box) then complete the entire motion per usual.
I know this a lot of this probably sounds obvious to a lot of people, but this is my thought process while doing it. So I hope it helps shed light on some things you may not have considered. These visualizations help me as a person who’s still working out the kinks in my pad to stick execution after about a year of making the switch. This ewgf bonanza made me realize I’ve been doing boxes instead of triangles for srk’s this whole time…aka been doing too much work. Anywho, approaching it this way has given me pretty consistent results with and without plinking. You’ll find the timing, just keep at it.
Thanks. I do plink and i’ve improved on cancelling from p1. p2 ewgf is still an elusive myth to me…i hope i get that moment where it all clicks. I’ll try with the d input on the p2 side because when i first started practicing i could do it like 2 times out of a million with that, but with the new shortened motion i don’t think i ever got one on p2 side lol.
If you want to learn the true EWGF, buy Tekken 6 go into training mode with Heihachi and train EWGF with him, he has a tighter timing to get EWGF with than Kazuya.
Really, looking for shortcuts and plinking and all that bullshit is unnecessary.
Well i go for anything that helps with consistency. I mean i’ll still use the dp shortcut rather than do the perfect classic st input, or plink 1 frame links in sf4. If the game allows it, i’m abusing it, though hopefully some of it carries to tekken someday.
After practicing plinking EWGF, i must say it helps immensely… I’m so consistent on both sides now, and actually landing EWGF combos online feels amazing :3
I’m working on EWGFs out of wavedash now, still a little tricky but it’s not too bad. To think just a couple weeks ago I couldn’t get a single EWGF @__@
From 2/10 -> 8/10 EWGF for me when I started plinking. Missing just frame make you waste ex tho(using hp~mp). But with blinking you get two of the same punches so only thing you can mess up is that you’re getting WGF instead.
