Hahhhaa, Fuerte gets another decent new footsie normal finally : target combo. :woot:
Good stuff, Dawg - also just saw Fuerte punishing a blocked sean kick from Abel with ultra 2. Very nice indeed.
Looking at the vids, it seems with ultra 2, Fuerte will also have to start fishing for whiffed normals - like Ryu’s cr.HK. There were some instances where ultra 2 would’ve punished that whiff.
heh, with target combo, more priorities on normals, and ultra 2, Fuerte seems to be overall better. I like. :bgrin:
+50 health is not confirmed and it was a testing error, so do not expect this one on SSFIV at moment, maybe next week with official info we have a nice day about all changes in SSFIV.
Hi Dawg, just saw another one of your uploads this time featuring Juri. Thanks for that.
Did you get a chance to test out Fuerte against the rest of the new cast besides Juri?
And while it’s probably still much too early to determine this, who do you think can be a potential bad match-up for Fuerte in the new cast?
Nope, fuerte can always do that since backdashes are considered airborne.
thnx for the vids! in the abel vid. i do like the new hit boxes for our normals. thnx for the vids and that hit confirm off of sorbat was dope! never thought of using it. think ill throw it into my game
Thank you Dawgtanian for uploading all these vids and notes!
@m1northreat: Yeah the Gordita Sobat is good for mixups too when your opponent expects either a splash or slide when you run at them and you catch them off guard with a Gordita Sobat!
i would always run at them and work off wat their reaction was. they jump, i stop jump air grab. they focus i fajita, or just stop and grab. itll just add to my mix up
Don’t use straight away as this move get’s beaten by wake up Shoryuken style attacks. You have to condition your opponent by mixing them up with splashes and safe tortillia mix-ups.
Delay it to the last moment possible, always buffer two quarter circles and if it connects, hit any kick button to hit confirm the super.
If they block the gordita sobat, you can press c.mk straight after for a nice counter hit if they try to press buttons.
Gordita Sobat is FADC-able, nice if you didn’t quite kill them and need to combo an extra hit onto the end.
Really happy about the normals and target combo, thanks a lot Dawgtanian for the vids. Looking forward to the developers update
@Dawgtanian: Do you think you can talk a bit more on the hakan matchup? I am really worried about it as I read more on how his 360 grab gets Fuerte out of all of his run moves not to mention how his ultra 2 seems to limit Fuertes options even more. How bad do you think the matchup will be, and did you notice anything that will help Fuerte in it? Is Hakan bad at escaping wakeup mixups for example?
Hey guys I’m lookin for a little execution help. I switched from pad to stick probably about 6 months ago and my execution has finally caught up. Mostly. My RSF is more consistent than ever, but for some reason I have a hard time pulling off c.mk into super from the left side. It sounds weird, but I used to be able to do it from both sides on a pad, and now I’m having trouble with it.
If you guys have any tips or examples of how you hold the stick to get the super out fast enough, it would be appreciated. I use a square gate if that means anything.
I’m not a Fuerte player, but I have been through the transition from Pad to Stick too, anyway maybe using the shortcut would help (d, df, d, df, f) ? Because other than that, I think it would pretty much come down to practicing execution on both sides of the screen and how to hold the stick is really more about preference (I hold the arcade stick’s ball with my thumb, index and middle fingers, ring finger is on the shaft and my pinky rests on the board). As for using a square gate, I use that too (TE), I think it’s faster to execute QCF like moves if you don’t push the stick all the way to the square gate’s corners, it’s sensitive enough that you wouldn’t need to do that to execute the moves.
From the impressions and previews the Fuerte players have posted and watching the videos of the old/new cast, I have a feeling that Fuerte will end up being one of the most balanced character in Super.
I don’t see anyone in the new cast giving him anything worse than a 6-4 match and his 7-3 match-ups in vanilla are more of a 6-4 match-ups now by the nerfs to top tier characters and the addition of ultra spark.
I don’t think he’ll have many great or good match-ups, but at the same time I don’t think he’ll have many horrible or bad match-ups of his own.
Improved normals really help and add more to his normal gameplay and ultra 2 is the great equalizer against his horrible match-ups.
