EL Fuerte's Revenge! ala improvement thread

I wonder if Kai will continue using Fuerte in Super with the buff he’s receiving (ultra 2)…

i wouldnt doubt it. oooh and about money matches. i did get to see 2 money matches involving online tony’s beast seth! that reminds me. i need some practice against a good seth.

Money match with Puertorican Balrog was pretty good. RSF’d that match. made Balrog look like an easy matchup…

I have a really hard time against Boxer, especially if they rushdown jabbing or are super turtley. =(

Here is a very random question lol In the 3on3 matches, there was a team called “We Hate Kai”, what did Kai do to deserve the hate from them? loool

I always thought of Seth as one of the toughest matchups for Fuerte, unless you land an RSF on him it seems really hard to win the match against a good Seth, he has an answer for everything. Ultra 2 should help in punishing teleports hopefully.

lol that name was a joke it wasnt really meant to be serious. Seth is a real pain i think, i had to go up against demon hyo’s seth in the losers bracket, im not too familiar with that match up

Guys, this might be the Kai vs VVV money match you’re talking about. Apologies if it isn’t.

Words cannot describe my admiration for Kai.

My general Seth strategy is to stay full screen away while anticipating a sonic boom and punish with a wall jump FP xx FP xx Slide combo. Rinse and repeat. If you have Ultra, you can punish Seth’s wall jumps with it but it requires pretty strict timing. Also, try baiting out his ultra by running up to him on wake up and just jumping straight up. FA absorbing as many sonic booms as you can is vital too to build up your Ultra.

I think this works well against a turtle Seth, but an aggressive one will keep giving you a boom followed by a teleport and some mind games that gets you into endless combos that take 30% of your health T_T I admit I have not much experience in this matchup, specially when Seth gets very aggressive, but it seems that if I run, he will either teleport to the other side or sucks me in to eat a combo. I can’t seem to get close to him, but he can easily do that.

EDIT: And also its hard to learn the matchup because it is not seen very often, and Seth being a console character means there is not much videos on it.

Damn, if I were that Boxer I woulda poo’d m’self o_O

Really nice stuff from Kai, those jab strings with overhead thrown in were hotness. So glad that missed Ultra opportunity after stun didn’t lose him the match

Yah I saw TKD do it in a vid not too long ago and my eyes bugged out. Dunno if the distance has much of a factor, but the timing is really strange. Either way it’s a really nice option when we haven’t juiced our meter from EX back runs.

that is depressing. does guacamole still trade for no damage?

Well, remember what was said on the blog in regards to Dhalsim. Attack strength in general has been reduced. Considering that Fuerte has more damage buffs than nerfs, we can say Fuerte got away, as I said earlier, by getting more buffs than nerfs.

I wouldn’t quantify it that way – I look at it like we got one buffed move (a move with four variations) and a few moves nerfed.

I was hoping SSFIV would have been more aggressive in the changes – adding moves, changing properties of existing moves, etc. Some characters seem to have gotten a bit of that, but unfortunately Fuerte just got the 2nd ultra and some (mostly negative) damage adjustments. Oh well

Stuff may have been nerfed, but it’s still possible that there’s changes to hitboxes and whatnot that balance out the nerfs.

i was told its extremely distance specific on the over head. oo and in that vid! who says that he has experience with me, and then the other says u are one of the best rogs in the nation???

You’re really understating the effect of ultra 2 in a lot of his bad match-ups though.

Arde: we’re not TKD though. We’ll have plenty opportunities to land guacs but one shot for ultra… Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Guac is something to savor. We must be weary of baits.

Also. Now we can say it: Farewell, Flying Giga Buster!

Damage nerfs across the board, coupled with quicker FA’s in general, would’ve made RSF retardedly good. It makes sense for them to nerf the stun on the cs.hp really, since in THEORY, we should be landing more of them in SSF4 than in SF4. Fuerte getting a stun every round would be TOO good.

Nerfing damage on FGB im not happy about, but it brings it in line with the other universal nerfs. Although having an ultra that is ahrder to land than U2, and giving it less damage seems a bit O_o

Tortilla nerf…yea i cant really make sense of that one. Im sure its all relative though.

I don’t care about tortilla damage nerf. As long as it still catches uppercuts and has it’s safe methods I’m cool with it.

Fgb is dead. Ultra spark punishes almost everything. Fgb is effectively replaced by strengthened guac and ex guac.

i can see the tortilla being nerfed. its basically a safe move with free damage. i dont mind that nerf. with the buffs that were gettin in guac and the amazing ultra, people wont know wat to do. should i just can get raped by guac and ultra or should i stay on the ground and risk a footsie battle with elf and get roflcoptered!??!
