EL Fuerte's Revenge! ala improvement thread

Methinks he at least won’t be looked at as a joke character anymore

wow. imma have to work on my footsies. never really had to use it much. just run and make the opponent spazz but now with this ultra and the fact that its such a HUGE threat. if you approach your apponent with this thing fully charged they will be shittin bricks when u try to footsie them. 1 wiffed normal and boom there goes 50% of their health!!

True. But they can still jump out on reaction.

But since Guac and ex guac got a damage buff, that means we’llbe dishing damage anyway or at least pushing them to the corner… Which means even more tricks and even more ways to force mistakes to land ultra.

I’m starting to believe that this will indeed move Fuerte up in Tier. As Tofu Warrior mentioned before, the high tiers have reliable ultras.

Fuerte now has a dangerous ultra that covers a major weakness
one of his moves has been buffed
another, while nerfed in damage, still retains it’s many uses
across the board FA speed is a double edged sword. But we’re used to the risk
alleged 50 to health
RSF retains it’s damage. Reduced stun is no big deal as shenanigans can lead to landing another. And if not. They can turtle. More fun for us as we kill the clock and mindfuck them more.

We really can’t complain. Overall, El Fuerte is much better.

Yup, he’s better but not cheesy better like some in the new cast are looking right now.

In Super Fuerte can finally make some mistakes since he has a bit more health and an ultra that deter rushes and footsies.

It seems the only time we’ll use Giga Buster is against opponents we’re not afraid of footsies.

Hey my El Fuerte Brethren. I must say I’m pretty new to this character and the game for that matter, but I’m loving it. Try as I might I cannot figure out the RSF. Damn shit’s hard as hell. I can’t figure out if my timing is really off or what, but combos I cannot do. If any of you guys would feel like adding me on XBL and giving me some pointers I would really appreciate it. Before you bust out the “scrub” on me. I’ve seen the video of the dudes hands doing the combo and it looks like LP run, LP stop, and then fierce. It seems like there is a better way to be doing this, but again idk. I’m tired of losing as ELF and you guys know how to win. Hit me up and let’s get our game on. El Fuerte for life.

Depending on what was changed , if anything, for Flying Giga Buster, we’ll likely still use it on opponents with no method of altering their jumps

I wonder what his new trials will be like, maybe there are some new combos/tricks that prove to be useful too.

Oh fuck! Looks like even though ultra 2 helps us against Gief, Gief’s ultra 2 also works against us:

FFFFFFFFUUUU… it’s like Guile’s air throw on some serious finely distilled steroid and speed mix.

If Gief’s Ultra II grabs Fuerte out of wake up EX Guacamole, we’re fucked for days.

btw i highly doubt that fuerte will be high-tier.
mid at most! dont get your hopes up that far  new ultra is very very good, but thats all.
he mostly remains the same.

Way back when Zangief ultra 2 was rumored to be a 720 air ultra, I thought it would be scary. There is no way we can punish gief with anti-air giga buster anymore if he has ultra 2. Also, it might be very hard and super risky to try anything that Guile can punish with airthrow (which is almost all options Fuerte has).

I am thinking the answer for gief’s jumps now would be EX guac, as I hope it would retain its great priority as well as it being too fast to punish with gief’s ultra 2 on reaction (otherwise gief can jump all day without fear of punish, which would be a bit too much). Also, I don’t think gief will be able to pull off the 720 motion in the beginning of his jump, unlike Guile’s airthrow that can be done almost instantly. So that means we can still try and attack gief with run options when he is on the ground, since he can’t react fast enough with ultra 2 to instantly jump and punish. Once he jumps however, then he can activate it anytime from slightly before peak of jump till the very end, but that would give us a clue to not try anything funny while he is in the air (no more anti-air tortilla or giga busters).

This is all based on my own assumptions and theory fighting, so time will tell best how to deal with this.

Gief ultra 2 is dangerous if Fuerte is cornered or if fuerte does someething stupid. I don’t see a threat otherwise. If he gets jumpy it’s that much easier to escape or bait it or punish

I don’t think a good Gief will always try to use it just like a good Fuerte will not always try to use ultra 2.

It’s more for mindgames, since at least in vanilla the most damage you get from jumping or backdashing is some jabs or a kick to the head. And yeah, probably no more jump neutrals…

Pretty interesting exchange between Fuerte’s ultra 2 and Gief’s ultra 2 : with Fuerte’s Ultra 2, we threaten his ground game, while his U2 threatens our air game.

Not in the situation he’s describing. Do you know how footsies works?

Could you go into detail please?

Yes, I do. Observe.

Basically what Minorthreat was implying was that NOW Fuerte, who honestly doesn’t have much in the way of conventional normals now kinda does with this new Ultra.

Footsies is basically movements, whiffing normals or even specials intentionally to get an oponnent to react in a way you want to punish them

Example:

  1. Moving to JUST outside of Ryu’s crMK to make Ryu go for said cr.MK, making him whiff it, then punishing it U2

  2. A friend of mine used Balrog, he did an overhead dash punch and whiffed it as I was floored with Fuerte, I thought “HEY free grab he mis-timed it! grab him” and went for a gra-HEADBUTT

  3. or, shown in video form: Watch Mike Watson school some Ken player, notice his movements and how he baits actions in the following video

checkout the article Sonic Hurricane has about it.

Personally, I’m not AWESOME at stuff about Footsies, in my deranged opinion Fuerte is more shenanigans and movement-type footsies then whiffed move footsies

Yes, I do. Observe. Once again, I had misread what he posted, so I’da gotten U2’d on that one lol

I’m just confused as to why you said your opponent will be able to jump out though. Not if you whiff punish properly.

flowchat:
if zangief picks U1, pick U1

if zangief picks U2, pick U2

i forsee a lot of character select screen turtling in this match up

Like I said. I read it wrong. That’s all
