EL Fuerte's Revenge! ala improvement thread

That makes sense since Ultra Spark has a faster startup, basically timing it as soon as they land.

hey. real random! buuuut, i was sittin here thinkin about how stoked i am about super and was thinkin about us not really gettin any buffs. we get a dope ultra and our hard match ups, at least some of them wont be as tough. then i was thinking of blanka! his new ult can prolly really mess us up but i think baiting it like usual and then using ex guac should prolly get us out of both situations. ex guac should send us up in the air so if he chooses the ground attack, itll miss and if he goes for the air attack cause he thinks were gonna splash, we should have enough invinc frames to get us clean out of it. i dont know i was just thinkin but this is gonna be one of the first things i try out wen i get the game! anyone think this is stupid??? it may just work i think. super random! sorry

I wonder how well Blanka’s Air Ultra works as an AA and would it be beat by Tortilla just like Electricity.

This is what it looked like to me as well. The timing seems as tight as giga buster, but different due to it being faster. Giga buster definitely seems more reliable as anti-air, since it has more range and is more controllable. But the spark is going to be really useful up close! Looks like I won’t even have time for secondaries, learning the new matchups, re-learning the old ones, and getting to know the spark’s setups will most likely end up taking all of my SF time

My guess is if you’re in the air while he activates that, you’re toast.
Probably quite similar to Hakan’s ultra although not as useful due to longer start-up.

I am bored, so here is some theory fighting I did: my own random thoughts on which ultra would work better in the old matchups (no clue at all on new ones so not going to mention them):

Abel: Both seem viable, but giga buster seems slightly more useful.
Akuma: spark
Balrog (Boxer): spark
Blanka: spark (especially if it can punish blocked balls)
Cammy: spark
Chun Li: giga buster
Crimson Viper: spark
Dan: spark
Dhalsim: spark (seems better at punishing teleports)
E. Honda: giga buster
Fei Long: spark if it proves to punish a lot of blocked specials, otherwise giga buster
Gen: hard to land as anti-air due to different jumps, so maybe spark, not sure.
Gouken: spark
Guile: giga buster (unless spark proves to be extremely good at punishing his fast recovery from sonic booms)
Ken: spark
M. Bison (Dictator): giga buster
Rose: giga buster
Rufus: spark for SURE
Ryu: spark
Sagat: giga buster
Sakura: spark
Seth: both seem hard to land lol but maybe spark is better to punish teleports and whiffs
Vega (Claw): giga buster
Zangief: if he goes for ultra 1, then giga buster. If he goes for ultra 2, then spark, since giga buster might be punished with air ultra if done as anti-air.

Wtf is Ultra Spark though? An AA?

It’s a grab and can be used as an AA just like Flying Giga Buster.

A grab with a QCBx2 input? shiet

You got it!

Blanka: Spark can’t punish blocked horizontal balls, giga buster can, but not spark. Too far.
Unless run stop ultra spark is viable then I don’t see ultra spark working here.
Spark stops almost all slide and far st.HP though.

For Sagat, I’d say Spark is a better choice since Sagat can be really bad for Fuerte when he gets close and starts pressuring Fuerte. Spark would at least alleviate this.

Dictator: I’ll probably use ultra spark here since at least that would stop Dictator from trying teleports and punishing blocked psycho crushers, and I’ll probably get a random ultra while he’s trying to do flipkick pressures.

Chun Li: with spark, she stops trying to footsie you with cr.HK or st.HK, however she’ll most likely play turtle against you. I’ll use spark here since I fear her footsies more than I fear her fireball games.

E.Honda: this will depend if spark can punish EX headbutt or not. If it can’t, then giga buster it is.

Rose: hmmm - interesting. Giga buster would be better to punish her fireballs, but Spark does a great job of shutting down far st.HK as well as a free punish for LP/EX Soul Spark.

Well since apparently this is the only SF game that Blanka can be hit out of Blanka ball during it animation with crouching attacks maybe Spark will be good to counter blanka balls that are coming at you before they hit you?

Apparently Fuerte’s Ultra 2 is going to make him a reversal king though. Like Honda s.HK is punishable on block with Spark. Apparently even Ryu’s c.MK is punishable on block with Spark.

How could RSF be harder if none of the move data has changed? That rumor doesn’t seem likely at all. Being able to do it even 3 times confirms that you should be able to do it as many times as you could in the original.

I think Blanka is considered airborne though so I think it will just pass through him.

They could have easily raised the pushback.

Not saying they did, but they very easily could have.

Doing so would completely destroy El Fuerte. Even if the opponent minimizes chances of getting hit with an RSF, It being there is needed Fuerte would have gotten some quite serious buffs, becoming a TRUE glass cannon if RSF was made tougher to do.

I was at eventhubs reading up on the changes to six of the characters and this caught my eye:

From what we’ve noticed, Fuerte’s biggest damage nerf was for his Tortiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilla Propeller, but that’s only so far. Depending on how much this damage reduction was, our luchador might be getting buffs by getting only a few nerfs.

Damnnnn, I was looking at the other character threads and some of their nerfs are hardcore. Like cammy’s hah. In comparison Fuerte didn’t get any really harsh nerfs. 18 dmg off Tortilla isn’t that bad. Especially since Guacamole got buffed by a the same. I’d say Fuerte is going to have a much easier time against other characters now for sure. The RSF nerf makes sense too, he may not need it as much to be competitive.

They said they will finish off talking about the rest of SF2 cast next week. I hope that means in the week after it, they talk about the rest of the arcade characters (Akuma + 4 new comers)! I hope they talk in good detail about Fuerte

Threelions,

Can you test Q-Bomb?
