I wouldn’t worry about gief. His new ultra is air activated, just keep him pinned down with presses and tortillas and he wont get a chance to use it. He’ll land it against fuerte as often as he currently lands his headbutt…so not often
I also read on NeoGaf, a playtester for capcom is saying fuertes ultra is really good in that it’s very fast (1 frame grab fingers crossed) and has great range.
If the new ultra is really that fast, to the point of punishing backdashes after safe tortilla, then I think Fuerte has got himself some good improvement. Any idea or guesses on how much damage it does? I would assume maybe not as much as the giga buster, but if it is close enough I will be extremely happy!!
While I think gief’s new ultra is maybe not as bad for Fuerte as I initially thought, I am still worried about one thing: gief’s headbutt doesnt change his trajectory, so doing a well timed anti-air tortilla is going to land. But if gief chooses to do his new air ultra, not only will it change his trajectory, but he might actually catch the tortilla mid-air. As long as EX guac still works though, I think I won’t worry too much.
im sure it even beats ex-guac when the ultra is activated AFTER the ex-guac same with tortilla.
but we will see a lot of random ultraing giefs after the game is released, so no problem to punish.
lool Just to clarify, are you talking about punishing a whiffed/psychic ex-guac? (as in jump and air ultra it)? In that case its fair of course. BUT, if gief jumps, and you try to EX-guac him AFTER he jumps but BEFORE he activates the ultra, then I assume the ex-guac should win, otherwise it is impossible to punish a jumping gief with an ultra meter T_T that would shut down all of Fuerte’s anti-air options, so gief can just jump around all day without fearing any kind of punish, that would be horrible…
Lets not forget though that ex-guac is FAST, so if gief’s air ultra is a bit slow, then chances are high that ex-guac will beat it (I hope this is not wishful thinking on my part lol).
agree with that. but i think ppl cant react THAT fast to a psychic ex-guac
I’m so excited about the mindgames after a whiffed or blocked late cr.HK and Fuerte’s 2nd ultra ready.
If you jump, I’m getting your ass with ex guac - if you stay, say hello to unblockable ultra.
EX Guac is invincible completely on the way up, it can’t lose to a move with such a short activation time as an ultra grab without some SERIOUSLY tight timing. Normal guacs will be devoured, of course, but yeah EX ones should be fine.
And guys. We now have run stop ultra.
We’re playing the fastest character in the game, and now we have a command grab ultra.
We’ll be fine.
Just saw the gametrailers video. I was wrong about the leg round the neck, but it’s still not the Muscle Spark because the position of his hands is different. The finishing bit is actually more like a modified Manjigatame/Octopus Hold.

1.35 at this video for an example of a Manjigatame.
Lol. Run stop ultra… And wait a sec… If this new ultra works like Gief’s throws, we might be able to grab people out of their reversal shoryukens! :woot:
With this ultra, I don’t think anyone will ever try to SRK -> FADC Fuerte again once he has ultra.
The only part about the spark that needs clarification is its damage, hope its good enough to really scare people off from pressuring Fuerte. So excited about this, can’t wait to bait people into it. Any news on Fuerte getting new specials??
Quesadilla Bomb FADC new ultra would be sex
Can you even grab someone when they’re in the attack stun frame? I think it will work like Gief’s where he can’t grab them in SPD or 720 ultra when they’re in attack stun.
The fun thing will be in whiffed cr.HK and whiffed q-bomb though.
EX run through pokes into command grab is gonna be so damn good. Just buffer while he runs at them.
fix that goddamn negative zone glitch…
(I.E the point on the screen where can’t cancel a run)
I’m kinda for and against the new command throw ultra. I was hoping for an ultra you can actually combo into, since they put this ultra in for elf im prob guessing his normals are still gonna be poo as well :(. On the flip side though this adds a whole new dimension to the mix up.
My suggestions for El Fuerte:
360+P: Destructor Move similar to TNA Finish Move the Canadian Destroyer (watch the last move on this video - )
J, HCB+K: Avioncito Move similar to R. Mikka (Wingless Airbone)
It sure doesn’t look like you can combo into it, but you never know as there might be some way to do so. Either way, I think it will help in dealing with pressure if it is really fast with high priority. I really hope though that this is not the end of his improvement, his normals might not improve unfortunately but there are other issues that if fixed can greatly enhance him. Other than the common tweaks that a lot of us require, I hope Capcom tries to be creative and introduces a new special move to him that will add to his defensive options.
Fuerte’s second ultra in action.
This alleviates my fears. The move has some decent range, is quick, AND is NOT a 360 move.
ok, he slides along the ground, something tells me you might be able to low block this, which would suck the most ass ever
this move neeeeeeds to be a grab, i would trade the range for it being a command grab in a second
If we’re lucky, it might go under projectiles at least. Here’s hoping that this will counter rush in attacks as well, but I wouldn’t count on it.
