El Fuerte - SSF4 AE Updates, Videos, and Discussion Thread

Densuo ,
In Super, after knocking down Rose, I would always would do Tortilla Propeller because it beats Rose’s wake-up Ultra 2 . I imagine it’s even easier to beat now. Safe jumps against her are pretty easier considering that her EX Soul Spiral has 13 frames of start-up, which is a far-cry from the minimum 4 frames. Also, Rose players back-dash on wake-up ALL THE TIME so punish it with an OS’d Ultra 2, or maybe just crouching MK. OS Slide and OS far HK are too slow and would get blocked or worse. Also her little slide that she does can be punished with Ultra2 on HIT if the Rose player does it close enough. If done far though (as they should), they are safe.

You COULD Fajita and Tortilla Super Rose’s U2, but if and only if they didn’t move from that spot.

Crouching Light Punch is so damn good

Stand MP can beat Yun’s dash punch… but I’m not completely sold on it’s reliability against it.

Shenanigans baby

crLP 2-3 times Shower kick crLP some more. I’ve scored 10+ jabs in a string of this. Getting a dizzy for crying out loud.

crLP until the next will whiff, throw crMK it will just barely miss, perfect for a frame trap. Gonna see how it goes with Far MK (Target combo chance?) and Far Mp

There are some times where Shower Kick will teleport in a wonky fashion against Yun.

I’ve had LK GUACAMOLE beat Yun’s HK upkicks.
I’ve Had Tortilla interrupt wake up ex lunge punch
far LP still beats EX Blanka Ball.

Also, double checking… is it me or can Ultra Spark’s distance now be controlled?

I like to do random slides when I’m not in range of his slide because they’re pretty reliable to me.

Haven’t checked but no I’m pretty sure it can’t lol.

Can we no longer EX Quac Blanka out of his U1?

Blanka U1
today while playing My friend did it twice. Once I EX Guac’d past him and escaped. the Second time I was hit OUT of EX Guac AFTER I went past him, i believe he was still going up. , but was otherwise unharmed.

I still destroyed any and all DPs that took to the air with me with EX Guac.

edit: took it to the lab. yeah, ex guac can still grab blanka u1 but when I timed it to where I ex Guac’d RIGHT before U1 screen freeze, Blanka hit me out, looks like the Blanka player may be able to wait and get full damag off it too. No Psychic stuff, Use EX Guac ONLY when you see Blanka throw out U1. if you’re close enough you’ll still go right past him.

Edit 2: Yes I was being stupid. we can’t control distance of U2

Edit3: crLP can beat Yun’s Dive kick sometimes. also, Tostada on Yun will miss if he does wake up command grab :\

Is it me, or does c.LP not chain/link into anything?

I’m positie I saw an AE vid of someone doing crLP,crLK, crMK xx run

you can NOT do crLP crLP crLK crMK after the 2nd crLP you will only be in range for crLP again.

crLP can xx run. should still do crLP xx super

lol took a DeeJay to splash mountain

Yun’s biggest things against Fuerte so far IMO:

retarded frame advantage.
Dash punch
dat god damn palm attack.
Several special normals that cause knockdown.
Command grab moves his hitbox. Making tostada and what not miss.

On a side note if you see his move where he steps forward and spreads both arms out, ultra spark that bitch on reaction.

More notes:
shoulder beats q-bomb.
Yun players seem eager to dash punch. If you’re full screen you can focus to bait it, backdash and cr jab him.
Picadillo Jump is actually a bad idea for once. I’ve had ex upkicks catch me. Ditto with H and ex dash punch.
I’ve been able to air throw him out of some divekicks that I predicted. I think his divekick hitbox is small.

So how’s Elf since AE? I’ve been futzing around with the new cast members and am reluctant to return to the luchador if he’s considerably worse.

… Grandpa’s getting old. Honestly. play some matches. get it through your head to use crLP more often, and less tortillas/psychic guacs and you’ll notice how less often you’re hoping to land an ultra.

I remember when changes were first annoucned and everyone was kinda buttmad. but honestly, the more I play with him, the more aggressive I’m being and the more I am starting to feel it is an improvement. I played in a turtle and run away style because I was mainly scared/play naturally defensive, now with that might jab. I’m getting more matches where I win and I KNOW I won instead of saying, yeah I won because I got a lucky ultra

if jus had the cr. lp chain buff without the nerfs then fuerte would be really sweet…but not being able to guac outta things anymore or do random tortillas kinda suck and what sux more is when characters do some cr. moves and changes their grab/hit box and tortilla whiffs and then bye bye health

^ The guac nerf hurts a little…but it teaches you to start blocking instead of relying on it. EX guac will still get you out of trouble under many of the circumstances it used to anyway. And Tortilla is still a VERY viable tool…You can still use it to punish jump ins, it just takes a bit more…everything.

A buddy of mine recorded my match against Inthul, so I was able to re-watch it. I literally did nothing but FA (why…) and tortilla, I looked like a mega scrub…But you know what? Tortilla was the only thing keeping me in the game against him.

All in all, once we adjust, I agree with the sentiments that he will be a more consistent character. (Whether he is better or not is undecided, but undoubtedly more consistent.)

A character that is more consistent is MUCH better then a character that is inconsistent.

Quoted for the truth Densuo.

Damn it I want a Fuerte avatar with him spamming crLP…

New motto for El Fuerte players: “lol cr.LP”

I really have the feeling that Fuerte is better in AE. His improved cr.LP is a gift from the Gods and the nerfs he recieved apply to moves you should not be spamming in the first place, so I’m ok with that. However, it looks like I’ve be so much “brainwashed” by the first comments telling Fuerte would be horrible in AE that some sort of “magic” happened on tuesday 7… I’ve started to use more normal moves, footsies, etc. I know those were kind of buffed in AE, but it’s just like if my brain told me “ok dude, you are a fuerte player in your heart, let me make you mysteriously twice better in one hour!”.

Seriously I almost double perfected some guys online I was not even able to approach in SSF4. So, for myself, being told fuerte would be horrible just triggered an unknown switch in my head and I’m having a lot more fun then ever playing the “new” fuerte…

Sorry for the bad english by the way, I live in a small town in Quebec and I have like 4 occasions to speak english a year -_-’

You’re English is just fine dude. No worries, eh?

Also. Kuma. I’m putting you in my signature.

Online means nothing.

Fuerte should be your casual character, and you should have a tournament character.

I’ve been playing 3s for 11 or so years now and I do the same thing.

Remy is for casuals, Chun is for tournament.

Fuerte has no chance of consistently placing top 8.

edit: Also ReyArt and I have the best Hitbox Fuerte.

I do know that online means nothing and believe me, if there was some kind of Street Fighter community in my place, I would not waste my time fighting random people on xbox live. The fact is that there is no tournament here, neither a community. Of course, I tried to build my own “small community” with my friends and my friends’ friends. But for most of them (about 10 people), they suck major balls and simply refuse to play me. One of my friend has a good bison and we play each other very often, but god is this boring to play against the same 2-3 people!

Also, for the casual and tournament character thing, maybe would I be more interested in there was some kind of tournament at my reach but there is not. Furthermore, call me stupid, but honestly, if I were to attend a tournament, I’ll do it as fuerte. I will probably not end up in top 8 but I will entertain the crowd, generate hype and prove people that having fun playing that game is important.

However I must agree with you that I should at least become decent with another character, as sometimes I do get tired of playing fuerte.
