c.mk x3 (or 4) is a good chunk of damage, but it’s risky to try to keep momentum after it
it’s theoretically possible to set up a frame trap close fierce after a meaty slide if you do it meaty enough. sounds pretty fresh, but theres a few problems with that:
hella hard to do consistently
opponents that get hit will likely be crouching, and your combos get really funky in that situation (run -> slide will generally go through)
still sounds pretty interesting though. i’ll see if i can find some timing aids to land super-meaty slides
No worries. But you know how some people around here will Neg rep or worse for just about everything (if it matters to you… also, lol neg rep)
I forgot to mention you did your RSFs off of FA… it fit the bill well as your opponent froze up, but remember that not everyone will, try to run first and then do the loop etc.
well for the first part about low fwd (x3 or 4)…wouldnt the risk be in fuertes favor?i was thinkin because say after the third instead of the fourth you can run back ,stop (depending on what they do) set up RSF,air throw ect. i guess what im asking is,when you say risk do you mean a lower risk? or it doesnt matter?
for the second part about meaty slides to s.fierce …i was trying it a while ago too, but like you said its hard…do tell when you find something i feel like my slides arent meaty enough as it is so a timing aid would be great =)
after running low forwards you can obviously bait counters, but if they didn’t do a counter then you just lost momentum. there’s no way for you to actually attack safely in that situation, though
generally what i do is mix up run forward -> block with run forward -> f+mk/c.mk
run forward -> block more often than not. opponents generally jump in this situation
What is the best strategy against a Ryu who likes to charge forward. Charging forward means instant srk if I try to approach, and a jump in if I try tortilla. I try baiting the srk or jump ins, but sometimes it doesn’t work, and the guy just keeps pressing forward to corner me. I found Qbomb to be a life saver in this situation, it makes him a bit more catious in his march, which gives me some room to apply my pressure game, but Qbomb is unsafe and the constant charging is troublesome, is there a better more intuitive way to deal with this kind of situation? I thought of f.mk but it doesnt knock down so it doesn’t slow him down much. Oh and it is even more problematic once he has ultra because if any of his srk hit me as he charges, he most likely ends them with FADC ultra. What are the best options to use against an ultra bearing Ryu? Most of Fuerte’s options invlove him going in air, which is very risky against Ryu…
Is dropkick a good option? it seems like it can be useful since its a two hit move that avoids the danger of focus, with second being overhead as well, but how does it fare against a srk?
I use dropkick as a long reaching poke all the time. It’ll get beat sometimes, and other times it wont it has such strange properties thanks to it being a 2 hitter. Anyway, learn the range. Most people dont expect fuerte to have that kind of reach with a poke, so let those ryus come toward you and give them a boot to the jaw when they arent expecting it.
aaahh! i think i understand a little… so you run fwd, stop then block? what do you mean block with run fwd?..i have to work f+mk into my game more… i dunno how without getting thrown…ima train on that =)
I’m finding Q-Bomb to be very effective versues Zangief. Something to use here and there.
Also, in a video posted recently in the Video thread. we see TKD using cl HK launcher and comboing it into Tostada press, you must do this immediatley, as in after blocking Blanka ball to go run slide immediatley. while it does less damage then HK -> Guac it is a fast way to change sides on the opponent as opposed to corpse hopping after a guac.
Tostada on Gief when he EX Banishing Flat is a safe way to escape / reset
I’m starting to see close and far MP as more useful then I initially thought.
Blanka’s ground slide with his arms out. an opponent did it to me and I tried to counter after it ith Fuerte’s slide (non run) it lost badly.
I have a better idea. Be part of the solution; play some Sims and Hondas and throw in your feedback, better yet slap them in in training mode do their moves see what counters what. That is a far better way to use this thread.
To this day I’ve fought one Dhalsim and one Honda, both of which has no clue what they were doing so since I play to win I threw my strategy out the window and took both their asses to splash mountain real damn quick.
There aren’t many Sim / Honda players (Ken Fighter 4 baby). I’ll look through their respective matchup threads and cross-reference.
Just glancing at the info there your best bet is to grab a life lead and turtle. Dhalsim is slow as shit. and at full screen his libms dont reach, if he gets desperate and teleports to you, get your free hit then proceed to turtle more.
Q-Bomb, dropkick, jump up airthrow beats headbutt, Ochio throw is a threat, focus butt slam for free combo turtle his ass. just remember that unlike other charge characters he CAN fight you moving forward. FP xx HHS hurts like a bitch so dont let him get that close. bait intelligently then wall jump and keep turtling
all of the info that you need is here…all you gotta do is ask and or search…
i faught a pretty good sim in a tourney a while back…if you can predict his fireball ,wall jump fierce and then you can add two fierces to that ->slide…if he teleports close you can short guac, air throw ect. …el fuerte has alot to do with training your opponent to screw up/train them to guess wrong …alot of people that are decent feel that they can guess wrong a few times vs fuerte because they have way more life…but to be a good fuerte(from my experience) since you have VERY small room for error, you need to never repeat the same mix up unless your training them to think thats all you have that round…then pop em’ with something else heh i do that alot…your faster than sim too so you have tools to get around thoes limbs and or make him be more cautious to throw them out for no reason
Don’t know if it was ever mentioned before and if anyone already knew but if Sim does a jumping Fierce or Forward you can catch him with Guac. Because Sim extends his arms, so does his hitbox there for you can grab him and instantly break away the danger-poking-zone and get him ready for your wake-up pressure game ^^
