El Fuerte Matchups and Strategies v.2 ***Updated 02APR10***

option select jfp + grab on abel = rape lol i love itt

though i prefer tortilla mix up, its just fun to see abel screwed on the floor

can you explain this? i’m kind of new to fuerte

you do a jump in fierce, and press throw so if he rolls he’ll get grabbed

Has anyone tried jumping back and then buffering U2 if Abel releases his U2 charge to catch you on the landing frames?

Some people in the Gief forums said it’s possible to grab Abel after he released his U2 charge, but not when he’s still in the charge mode.

@arde

I’d just jump towards the wall and bounce off.

and this is probably old news already, but you can punish abels wheelkicks now with ultra =) hate reacting with light leg throw

You can only counter with your ultra if the abel releases it you land then do your ultra otherwise abels ultra will win every time.

I used Ultra spark as a reversal versus a blocked jaguar tooth. adon jUmped away. But if they try anything after the tooth they get sparked.

After a blocked jaguar tooth he has enough frame advantage due to slow normals. Watch for throws.

Crouch hk beats mashed rising jaguar. Replay showed desperate ex mashing.

I backdashed out of a full screen jaguar tooth though.

Guac trades with jaguar kick. You take a counter hit.

If adon manages to survive an ultra spark ( full ultra kills him if he’s at half health or less) don’t move. You are in perfect position for crossup fierce. At this point crossup fierce cl fierce xx qbomb is a perfect chip kill and he damn well can’t do shit about it.

At almost every range that I did tortilla, rising jaguar flew past me. So it seems real easy to safe tortilla him. His moves seem to hge deceptive recovery. And he does hit kinda hard. Be careful.

I still think this is in our favor. But don’t sleep on him.

@Densuo, yeah just late tech against adon after jaguar tooth, hes at -2… so you cant punish with anything.

once adons in the air , anything could be him out, his hitbox is only around his toes, but it will trade with everything. just watch out for EX jaguar in the corner because he can ultra.

I just got destroyed by a good turtle Guile. I would normally come away a bit upset after getting stomped like I did but the player’s lack of sportsmanship (insults flying my way after I sent him a message giving him his due props, asking how to get in on Guile) left me dissapointed.

Knowledge of the Guile matchup is lousy for me. And getting airthrowed and out turtled sucks.

Also. Fuck you auto correction.

Guile has a hard time escaping pressure, but the problem is getting close to him can be a pain sometimes since Guile is a master in turtling (and now he is even better in Super). Try to be patient with Guile, study the players patterns (does he like to jump and airthrow as soon as you run to him? is he the type who prefers to wait for you and then does cr.fp to get you off? etc…) once you understand him better, then try and bait him in making a mistake, and make sure you get a knockdown from it. Once you get that knockdown, then pressure him like crazy and don’t allow him to breath. Don’t try to rely too much on getting the life lead and turtling in this matchup, its better to just finish him off, unless you have a really good lead without too much time left. Fighting a very defensive Guile can be really tedious…

@Densou: Back in vanilla SF4 I remember losing to 2 decent Guile players in one night in ranked matches, and I sent them a note to give them props, both responded with insults and tons of hostility. It was extremely frustrating, so I totally understand where you’re coming from. A couple of nights later I met one of them again, changed my style to be more aggressive, resulted in me almost double perfecting him and getting a sweet taste of vengence

As delicious as vengance is, I’d settle for just beating him and moving on. I made many mistakes. Run splash got air thrown alot and I didn’t drill it in my head.

I kept falling for follow the lp sonic boom.

Rythmn was just totally off.

I’m hard-pressed to sell my TE stick in favor of an arcadeinabox. I need something heavier. And I was pretty much sold when my friend let me grope his arcadeinaboxx.

But yeah. No excuses. I got handled. And that shit’s not happening again.

I suppose my “morale” victory came from responding to his trash talk with indifference.

He whupped my brother too. I think we’ll be having some very hardcore sessions soon.

I might be willing to sell my modded SE stick if I can’t get it fixed, but can you link to somewhere else I can get more information on these. I went to their website and it seems interesting.

The effects of being stickless have really been getting to me. It’s hard to do the run stop guac or the run stop air grab on a regular controller.

Can’t really offer info. Your best bet would be to talk to someone who’s had both a te and an arcadeinabox.

Run stop guac is definetly easier on stick though. Run stop airthrow is just fine.

All right, I did the rest of the point blank Reversal Sparks

What I like to do against guile is, turtle ten times harder then he is and focus sonic booms. As he starts pushing up (or following a sonic boom) I lure him into my corner and den try to go for a wall splash, and once he catches on, ill just do a normal slide to get in, then grab. if guile corners you, remember to just wait for that medium kick (-4 on block) and you just mash it out in between the medium punch if he goes for the target combo. just let him think its safe to pressure you then, ultra if your willing to take a risk.

just my two cents, but overall its better to be patient.

Thinking about it. I always tend to be the aggressor vs Guile.

I’ll try the turtle route on him again then.

I’ve found that versus slow jumpers crhk has done a good job of getting me away from stuff. They try to crossup and mistime it, do it way too late or while Im standing and crhk is damn well a sure fire escape.

Also. Does anyone know what the he’ll Fuerte says in English va when he ex runs?
I can speak Spanish but I don’t know what the hell he says.

HABANERO DASH! Now what the hell is he saying when he does Quesadilla Bomb? In the middle of battle, it’s hard to tell what he’s saying in the arcade mode.

@KumaOso: Thanks for the list man, and sorry for the delay on my part. Real life has been catching up to me, so I will need a bit of time. I will try to at least create a thread and put your info in it soon so fellow Fuerte players can easily refer to it when they need. I will reserve space for other U2 reversal situations and hopefully fill it up with time.

im a bit confused ? sry what is this list for again ?

Conditions when you can do an Ultra Spark as a counter. The situations may not happen much in higher levels of play that often, but it’s good to know.
