Dunno if it’s been covered or not, but when playing with mixups against Makoto, you need to be wary of her wake up ultra 2. If she does the lk aiming thing in the corner, and you’re trying to catch her in a tortilla… You’re eating that ultra.
That’s why you stay cautious when any character has Ultra stocked. It’s common sense at that point of play. But there’s still a lot of players out there who don’t pay attention to those meters. If you see someone’s character with at least two bars of meter, watch for FADC, especially projectile spammers who like to follow behind or use it for baits.
If I’m playing against a shoto, muay thai, or Abel, I have little fear of their wake up ultras. If I get tagged, it’s because I screwed up with the timing of a safe tortilla. Getting hit with one FADC is enough to make you cautious. It’s just… You don’t expect a wake up ultra being able to hit you like that, especially when you know under normal circumstances you’d land behind their ultra. It was a pleasant surprise.
I didn’t think about this, but the reversal sparks give you a visual confirmation for Ultras you can’t escape from, especially ones you might not have known about like Ibuki’s Yoroitoshi.

U2 soooo gud!
some ultra reversals I’ve done:
Guiles cr.medium kick.
Blankas slide ( from max range )
codys slide (punishable on hit as well)
rose’s slide (punishable on hit as well)
It’s probably mentioned before, but how do you deal with Tony Hawk’s aerial dive (Condor Dive?)?
I think my regular HK Guac was hit out by the dive. Does EX Guac work?
Because of the trajectory, I’m afraid to do run-back to anything. It feels like it will hit as I’m running back.
He hurts like hell and I need a way to keep him out.
EDIT: I just wondered about if there is a way to punish after blocking a condor dive. It seem to do a bit of recovery backflip (a la Blanka ball and cannon spike).
far standing RH can make it whiff and the 2nd part hits if timed right
Run back will avoid it completely and you can do a tortilla when he lands.
After block, couldn’t you just run xx slide him? I think you might even have time to guac him as he flips back.
I am having a bit of trouble dealing with a Blanka that likes to hop a lot. Everytime I try to stop him with a normal (tried target combo and dropkicks) I end up eating an upball that is buffered from his hop, but if I let him hop he gets close to me and starts mixing up with crossups, slides and throws, which gets hard to deal with. Is there a consistent and reliable way of keeping hop-happy Blankas out without having the risk to eat an up/horz ball? I know U2 punishes him well for that, but what if I still don’t have it?
just late tech. let him make a mistake, then punish when you have a chance. blanka can only damage you if you let him =) ill take a throw from him anyday
I just never try to get in that situation, i get the life lead and wait for him to do something stupid like blanka ball then play the wake up game, do some damage and run again. But like spag said if you have to take any sort of damage make sure its throw since im pretty sure it does less then ball.
Thanks guys, I will try not to use normals to get him out of the hop too much, since he recovers too fast and ends up beating me with a buffered ball. Its hard to turtle against a hopping Blanka for me though, he closes distance on me very fast, and trying any running or wall jumping to get away results in me eating more buffered balls. I might need to improve my reaction a bit to be able to bait him consistently into whiffing. I usually don’t have too much trouble against blanka, but this guy plays a very different type that I haven’t encountered before, so gotta practice!
also Q bomb should work, but i have doubts because of its start up speed
Qbom beats balls but it’s not worth the risk. Better to stuff with far mp. And later when they start doing less balls with intent of damage and more to fish stand mp, THEN mix in bomb.
Block and punish with run slide or ultra spark.
Ultra spark works. Run slide works as well. But do not panic to press hk or you’ll miss the input and give thawk a free command grab with you just running.
Also. Ex guac beats condor dive. But the only way i grab him out of it with regular guac is doing it when he jumps.
Random/psychic guac is asking Thawk to sit on you.
I still think T. Hawk is cake for Fuerte. But woe is you who sleepeth on him. Lest you sleep with him on you
Hello Forum,
I came across a good cammy player online name Cobelcog (UK Tournament player) and as expected I got throughly thrashed almost all perfects the times we fought in endless battle. I just couldn’t get out of the rushdown + normal/throw mixup :shake:
Read the matchup strategy and trying to keep block discipline (which I need to work on, I’ll look at the replays throughly), Any extra tips would be great! especially when killerbee is in your face :china:
Below is a link of what I was up against. Props to Cobelcog! (a really nice person)

Thanks!
can rufus galactic tornado be punished with U2? sfframedata.com lists all versions as -1 but in training using recorded dummy I can catch him before jump. So is rufus frame data wrong on that site or is there something wrong with dummy record for testing U2 punish?
I had a similar situation checking to see if ultra 1 was faster and could punish ex headbutts from honda. Arde explained to me that the ultra flash will sometimes negate the jump command of a dummy. more than likely its the ultra flash negationg the jump 4 the dummy
