Just wait until we condition people to stay away from us.
Yeah, but getting in is Fuerte’s strength. I do think people will be playing safer eventually and make it harder to land, but you really can punish almost anything with U2.
Considering I’ve been getting LOTS of wins via timeout… I’m ok with this.
I’m enjoying my Bitter Victor title. I’m still laughing about getting revenge vs a sagat by notching two timeout wins.
They say the game is more offensive but here’s what I feel about Fuerte right now;
he is still the best clock killer.
Tortilla like dragon punch must now be used properlly. I think it has more reach but you must place it properlly. Before in vanilla I would wakeup ex run into tortilla and beat everything. Not so here.
Dropkick overhead (2nd hit) has to be properlly timed on opponent wake up. It’s harder then it was in vanilla.
I find just empty run works hilariously well when cornered. People expecting me to wall jump/ guac out see me run right under them and subsequently taunt.
Meaty slide seems to be a real good tool. I want to see what other uppercut types lose to it.
Take advatage if fear generated from ultra 2 but don’t get reckless. I find when they start running away it’s easy to setup an ex guac or bait to ultra anyway.
I have new found respect for his backdash. It’s very good. And how short it is gives it a specific application.
Whiffed qbomb seems to be good bait when they are knocked down. Or at least to push them to the wall. Is it me or is it slightly safe on block as far as block/knockback…
Ryu can still throw super after hadoken if done immediatley.
A bud likes to throw the hadoken an instantly fadc it to close in. Stay alert for that.
Ive been really messing with Balrog players minds.
After knockdown on Rog… neutral slide is so good vs him since it beats headbutt most of the time. His only option is to really just cr. block it then either tech your throw follow up or jab… Ive been mixing in U2 after the slide and its seriously hitting 90%+ of the time.
Yeah, especially if you are corpse hopping him Balrog has trouble getting up. But be wary, because if he does win the guessing game he will really mess you up.
Just adding some stuff I’ve noticed with Elf.
Gouken:
You can slide under his fireball. He will of course shout “Ha-do-ken” and that’s key. At full screen wait for the “ken” part before sliding and you’ll go right under. @ 3/4 screen “Ha-do” then slide.
Seth
You can slide under his SB with little danger at least from when I’ve used it.
Looks like meaty slide beats Ryu’s dp. Gonna double check a replay just to be safe.
Wow, Ryu’s DP is such garbage now, that’s insane.
(I hope you’re right)
So far tortilla -> lk xx super/reset still works … its easier to time but it still is character specific , but it seems to hit just about everybody …i will post more details of who soon …BUT! What i did think was interesting is that you can confirm his ultra … BOTH of them
example : you get your opponent to jump away from wake up tortilla … then you ultra ! hits every time with both ultras anywhere on the screen (TKD almost always pulled it of in vanilla … So i just had to test it out …)
Time for ? Fuertes Revenge ?
test it and let me know what you guys think … im sure we can figure more usable setups like this …
if you have any questions just ask
I updated my thread with a list of all the characters lk reset works on.

Good stuff Paper! My bad if that part was a repost …
ive been lurking on these boards since the launch of vanilla sf4. all of the info ive learned from here has really uped my game for the course of sf4. so i think its time i try to give some info back to the community. ive been testing some counters to things that may screw with fuerte wake up game in super and here what ive found.
Rufus ultra 2: it wrecks every option clean from fuerte except cross up J.FP . It lands fast enough to block and you get a punish of you choice. between baiting this ultra and cross up J.FP i dont find this ultra a problem at all. i tend to think of him like blanka, once the ultra is outta of the way the rest aint too much of a problem
Guy’s ex hurrican kick: beats every thing but guac. The good news is that once again cross up J.FP. makes it whiff and you get a punish of your choice. this combine with the fact that so far guy seems like nothing special helps the match up alot. i wanna say its in our favor.
Zangief ultra 2: first off the invincibility frames of ex guac goes through gief. i have seen people do this insanley close to the ground so it can be a problem when you knock gief down. i tested this with the record function so there may be some descrepiencies on my part but the dummy did it as low to the ground like tk cannon spike. safe tortilla gets grabed by tk ultra 2(lol tking an ultra). There is a timing where you can make it wiff with cross up J.FP but i cant get it down perfectly. also there is a tortilla timing that makes it whiff despite the fact it looks like it will hit you. do the timing of a safe tortilla but pull it back immeditly as quick as you can. this will beat forward dash, green hand, jump attacks. and make ultra 2 miss. i need to do more training against this move to see if there are some better alternatives to beat it.
t hawk ultra 2: beats safe tortilla. Use cross up fierce, cross up tostada, and slide. this thing is worthless against fuerte.
Makoto ultra 2: this things has hit me outta safe tortilla. i donna if i blocked it wrong or what after i landed, hopefully someone can test this better than me. either way it looks like a problem
well these are some of my findings. i hope none of this is old info
I fixed my computer. Expect an update for the matchup thread soon. It’s good to see everyone pooling info at the rate we are. You guys are awesome.
Vega’s ultra 2 beat El Fuerte Ultra 2 every time when I was facing my friend yesterday. Was I doing something wrong?
Can U2 be used as a counter ultra?
Juri seems like a challenge
I think juri is gonna be our bitch. Dive kicks are punishable by throw at least, gonna test more. Qbomb beats wheel kick, gonna reconfirm tonight before I sleep. Projectiles don’t go full screen and is free ex run through to rsf due to how Slow she uses it.
Her pinwheels are like fei long rekkas. Must be right distance to be safe. Her ex version is real unsafe.
Her only threat is Feng Shui engine and her instant knockdown forward jump down + fp but that is quick getup-able.
Shower kick and focus doesn’t seem useful in the match. So hold that down for qbomb.
If she has ultra two and meter start turtling and quit jumping. She will fish for ex dive kick to ultra 2 her forward dash is good but her back dash I think we can get her on it.
I don’t think she’s a threat. I see it 6-4 Fuerte right now. 7-3 if qbomb rapes pinwheel kick, and if dive kicks get punished with u2/crmk/clfierce
I took about 6 months off of sf4 so i could really get into ssf4.
First day of ssf4 and I’m happy as a clam!
Fuerte is amazing, his ultra spark can be used just like giga buster its just stupidly fast.
Ill upload a few replays of the people i was playing in ranked matches, i also have a notepad full of notes on each character (ie what beats what, best option to punish, what is safe)
I’ll organize it in a couple weeks and post it in my thread.
heres a few things i love about ssf4
1 easy tortillia lk reset, works on a lot of chars
2 easy as hell to neutral jump air grab a spinning bird
3 damage is nothing. I hardly got hit in sf4, and if i did i probably lost. This is not the case in 4
quick notes
When thawk does his downward air dive it breaks armor, dont try to ex run or anything just block and punish with guacamole.
ELF will be all about punishing jumpers with guac and punishing standers with ultra
