Sure thing. I’ll confirm that in a little while, just grab ryu’s ex fireball in training mode. If it’s one hit, dropkick should do the trick.
If it’s two I dunno what are options will be, he goes into slide awful quick so qbomb would be out the question. I think ex run affects the move itself. So I’m going to do a series of tests.
His run is not as good as Fuertes. He has hefty recovery compared to Fuertes. Then again it’s to be expected considering his other options. There’s another difference;
Fuerte runs for x amount of time on the forward run. Guy WILL stop his run if he is next to his opponent. This means Guy must commit to something before reaching the opponent. If he stops and does nothing the recovery for stopping results in him getting punished
I doubt Guy will be the counter for Fuerte, maybe too early to tell (But I don’t see him as the worst by far for now)
Here are a few things I tried on training against Guy: (please correct me on anything if wrong, this is mostly based on some quick tries)
Seems like dropkick is still a viable option to counter his EX run. Since his run makes him stop once he gets to the opponent, he will have to commit to a run option. If he stops, dropkick obviousely wins due to the slow recovery of Guy’s stop. If he goes for neck flip, dropkick seemed to win most of the time, unless a bit delayed in which case it will only miss. If he slides, it seemed to either miss or counter the slide for the most part, and in one particular timing the slide beats the dropkick. I thought he might try and stop the run and do a followup that is not a run option, but he has to stop far from you or he will eat the dropkick. He could stop to bait dropkick and do Hozanto, in which case I think he can beat the dropkick. Also don’t forget both Neck flip and slide can be focus attacked, but not hozanto.
Slide seems to own Hozanto always from a good range, but if he is too close then Hozanto wins. I noticed that you can just throw him out of a Hozanto though, so if he is close then throw him out of it, otherwise a slide seems like a good option.
His EX senpukyaku is something to be careful from on his wakeup, but can be beaten cleanly with either HK guac or EX guac. Be careful as lk and mk guac will always trade for zero damage lol
I looked at the match I had bs cammy. Put it slow mo and put up the input display. While cammy was floored the player was mashing cannon spike. In slow mo you see her taking position for it when me deep and meaty slide knocked her down.
I cross referenced with the other cammy match.
Meaty slide beats wakeup reversal cannon spike but loses to EX cannon spike
Guy seems fairly good against fuerte. No worse than a 6 - 4 though at this point. Even that is pushing it. Id guess it ends up being 5.5 - 4.5.
Trouble is he can apply pressure safely, and has a really easy hit confirm from a c.lp or s.lp into his bushin chain, and into big damage. Sort of like chun, but with more damage. His mixups are great too. Feels similar to the viper match. Whoever gets the momentum wins, essentially.
Just gotta watch out for that EX hurricane kick. I havent found anything to beat it yet, besides good old EX guac. I cant seem to airthrow it either. And a poorly timed U2 goes straight under it. But aside from that its no worse than any old DP. And im sure we can all deal with those by now.
I played a good Ibuki… I had no idea what to do when they did the following…
Cross up knife, chain combo, rinse repeat… I got caught in a throw and chains… twas sad
I didn’t have much trouble vs guy but his pressure game is good… that MP, HP chain is FAST! kinda lame his chain combos are mashable, and cody felt free TBH… but I’m probably just playing scrubs… Cody couldn’t do anything on wake up as I had suspected, but a better player would probably back-dash etc.
EX guac seemed the most consistent in punishing it. But I also noticed that sometimes normal HK guac can beat it too, but can also trade (not sure yet about the timing, but at one instant it seems HK guac can always beat it, but timing seemed a bit strict, a bit more delayed than doing it on reaction but not too late). Also, FA can be used against it since it can’t break armor but nothing else seemed to work against it.
I’ve had my copy for a couple days now, I’m so hot for this game…TBH I haven’t touched ranked battles yet, but I’ve had some epic endless lobbies and just got off a 3v3 win streak
I don’t think I’ll ever choose U1 again, U2 has already saved my ass plenty of times. Of course one shouldn’t rely on it too much, but it just punishes waaay too many things.
Oh, and I find myself charging EX Q-Bomb during U2 like you, Densuo. Chances are, if Ultra Spark doesn’t kill the guy a sneaky sneaky yellow Q-Bomb will do the trick, or at least put them into shock
Exactly. U2 animation is perfect for charging qbomb.
Also. I reccomend keeping alert vs Abel players. His Ultra 2 is every bit as good as ultra spark in my opinion and quick as hell. It’s delayable and has armor, this ultra looks like the best one for him even though ultra 1 can be combo’d into from crHP
I’m happy to say that I’m doing crossup fierce better.
Ultra 2 is really putting fear into opponents, yesterday playing with two co-workers one of them usually trounces me. Punished his pokes with ultra, punished a fireball xx shinku by wall jumping then ultra 2, baited dp’s to ultra 2, baited spd and lariat and headbutt to ultra 2.
I can’t wait to see what happens when I can rsf. I was skeptical of ultra 2 changing fuerte so dramatically. But Tofu Warrior was right on the money. This ultra is just that damn good. 90% of the time I land it. And since people like to hang back and throw fireballs it’s EASY to get two of them a round.
Also. Anyone else think far standing Mp is a bit faster now? It certainly seems like it.
Chun li’s kikosho gives her varied ways to combo to ultra but regardless of how itsused it still does shit damage.
yyoooo! Sup fellow Fuertes ? long time its been posting , but i have been playing ssf4 a little bc my friend got his copy early … (getting my copy today) so far with the small testing i have done …
Against Juri ,her spin wheel kick can be lk guac’ed . the timing is’nt too strict either
(you can also side under it … im gonna test more stuff later … so i may be posting later as well )
VIVA!!! :wgrin:
I just had my first proper online session today, Fuerte felt a lot more rewarding than before. I played against a decent Guy, hard to tell who has any advantage, but EX guac kills a lot of his options, his jump is slow and high so it can easily be punished no matter what he does in air with the almighty ex guac Also, cr.mk seems to have a bigger range and better priority, it was very useful in keeping pressure away. Still trying to figure out when to use ultra 2, but I managed to win with some good old baiting and mixups, I think Guy should try to minimize jumping when Fuerte has EX meter, ex guac works really well and has buffed up damage now!
I will try to focus on how to use ultra 2 in my next session, seems like it can make a big difference if used smartly!
I agree about c.MK seems much faster. I used to get caught doing spring board HP into a focus attack and id get smacked before I can nail a c.MK… I have yet to have this problem in super, I beat a Hakan in ranked doing this followed by a massive splash
Toretiiiiilla’s hit box is difficult to get used to… we had it so good before. I keep missing on what I feel should be guarenteed hits
